@@donaldthomas9389 She's called a triple threat in the industry, dance, act, & sing. She should have been the lead in Flashdance imo, because she can dance & Jennifer Beals had a double who danced for her with a bad wig that was really noticeable in the last scene, but that's just not who she was. She had small roles in Flashdance & Dirty Dancing, & this is her largest role. I'm a former dance choreographer & I think she's a better dancer than Finola Hughes, although I love Finola! Due to the fact she can do front ariels & her split leaps are overextended. They have different styles of dancing though, & since your body is your art, your "lines" are affected by your body type & Finola has cleaner lines in SOME types of dancing. I just realized you're a dude & couldn't care less about my dance analysis, lol, but I will let it stand. Oh yeah, and she's drop dead gorgeous & her speaking voice is like velvet. She's virtually flawless.
@@julielea8344Cynthia was Jewish which means a gold ticket in Hollywood, but she was a born - again Christian at the same time and I think that prevented her from having it all.
Am I the only one who thing this movie is criminally underrated for the talent level of the dancers and the presentation of a fake broadway show in Satans Alley that could have been real if they had that level of talent doing the show.
How creatively smart Stallone was - to use slow motion on this graceful choreography. Allowing you to actually catch and view the remarkable flexibility of their limbs, their spines, the altitude of their jumps. All their hard work, rehearsals, constant practice for this (and I'm sure spasm pain), they remain 2 of the best dancers of the 80's. (See Rhodes' combo upper body flip back into an open step split at 1:47 ... and Travolta's controlled 30 degree angle split hold with head drop at 1:35). The essence of fluidity ... on the dance floor.
My mom says I would crawl to the tv when this song/scene came up as a baby. They would play it and then let me run off somewhere in the house after just to rewind it and have me come crawling back. She always calls me whenever the movie is on tv and it makes me smile that it reminds her of me :)
ohhhhhh my god!!!!! how do you watch this and not cry!!! precious precious memories and wooooow cynthia had some SERIOUS MOVES!!! the 80s I'd go back in a HEARTBEAT! !!!!♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Stayin' Alive. This is my favorite part of the movie. She has such talent. Grace and beauty. I didn't know she was also in Flash Dance. Well deserved to be in that movie also. 💃🎶💕
Then he divorced her recently and married Daisy Fuentes. I would love to see her on the new "World of Dance". I totally would have given it up to raise my family too but now that they are grown I hope she goes for it.
Cynthia Rhodes is point on in her dancing. People don't dance anymore its all acrobatic moves instead of complimenting your dance partner. Its a shame. The best friend I had to dance with we won two dance competitions. Then he was stricken with rheumatoid arthritis. Miss you my friend you led me beautifully.
Such a beautiful scene! Yes John Travolta can dance no question, however most of the numbers were choreographed to make him look good. Cynthia Rhodes is a trained dancer and she looks every inch a professional. Man they looked good in this number. Age is sooo cruel!
Between FLASHDANCE and STAYIN' ALIVE, Cynthia Rhodes singlehandedly inspired me to be a dancer. By the time DIRTY DANCING was released, so was I. Gosh, this song is so beautiful. "Never Gonna Give You Up" never gets old. I guess that's what they call "timeless."
This is poetry in motion. So graceful in every way. I'm never going to give you up. From the day I first met you, I was so hopelessly in love. No one could ever fill your shoes, because of our life together & all those beautiful memories.
THIS is true jazz, which is rarely taught these days, if at all. The long sleek line she holds through out her body is amazingly cat~like. Real Jazz. A loss of entertainment opportunity that Cynthia Rhodes' talents were not realized and made into a feature film, showcasing her gorgeous artistry. Now, we're left with do the jerk, er I mean twerk ~ LOL !
Cynthia Rhodes: the dancer we ALL loved to watch! When she was in any movie or music video ("Roseanna") everyone would stop...and watch her athleticism and how graceful and beautiful she moved! She proves it in this clip from Staying Alive! Made Travolta look small! Love her!!!
This is one of my favorite songs from this movie. The entire soundtrack was great. It's sad that the movie wasn't well received. I liked it, but I'm an actor/dancer/singer, so I'm a little biased.
I just watched it yesterday and to see if the critics was right. I think they were wrong. The movie was unique and the music blended with the movie. I remember what Paul McCartney said in the 70s. Where the movie became a background to the music. Masterpiece!
Voni Mc This is honestly oje of mt favorite movies ever. It opened my eyes to take dance lessons. Now in NYC and looking to see how we can flourish this fantastic movie for people to see. Ill leave it at that. 😉
Que pasada de vídeo; alusino al verlos . Estos vídeos te transportan a un lugar que no conoses donde quisieras estar porqué te encanta el baile , la música ; me encanta
I grew up with "Saturday Night Fever" and listened to the critics when they panned "Staying Alive". Okay, I was 14, but that is no excuse. Three decades later I found the DVD in the bargain bin, bought it, and found myself blown away. You would never guess Sly wrote the screenplay! He gave Tony depth and made him a butthead, but a lovable butthead with purpose. He let Tony fall, rise, fall, scrape, and then while all of that was going on, he let Tony come to grips with his past. Although not the best movie ever made, it totally buried "SNF". And I think it was this dance that sealed it for me.
I have ti admit it : this is my favorite scene in the film. Cynthia Rhodes stole my heart, & Frank Stallone saved this film . Period, end of story. --------------------MJL< 75 y/o
this film was inspiring me when I was 15 years old and I search about the film in my country Egypt till get it on video tape to have it and see again and again now I am 47 and still after all this years the film inspiring me with many songs and beauty dancing shows it was one of the best musicical films I have ever seen. and not repeated again till now really it was heart touching to see this song again.
One of the best dance 'scenes' in movie history... no gimmicks... just raw talent and beauty in motion.
Hell yeah, I agree! Saw it yesterday with wifey...so good!
Totally agreed!
This is what I'm talking about Cynthia dances like an angel, she can carry any show.
Cynthia Rhodes is so underrated-she can do it all. Many people don't know she sang in the musical group Animotion- Room to Move great 80's song
Always said it. Dancing and singing. Then just said okay, did that, i'll be a mommy now.

I know she sang dance in music video and movies. She was married to Richard Marx

Absolutely beautiful woman.❤
The way her body moves is like no other!
one of my FAVORITE dance scenes in a movie. Cynthia Rhodes & Travolta did really good in this scene
Cynthia was on fire 🔥 during the 80s! What an amazing performance!!👏👏👏👏
I'm so glad this scene was done in slow motion. So beautiful, graceful and intimate. John Travolta and Cynthia Rhodes had the best chemistry.
Am I the only one who thing this movie is criminally underrated for the talent level of the dancers and the presentation of a fake broadway show in Satans Alley that could have been real if they had that level of talent doing the show.
C'è anche Patrick Swayze in questo film, è uno dei ballerini del corpo di ballo, si può intravedere durante le prove dello spettacolo finale.
She was awesome in Dirty dancing!! She sure didn't receive the recognition she deserved in that movie!!
Cynthia Rhodes is beauty and grace here....so incredibly talented!

Que hermoso ❤❤❤
Questa scena, la loro danza, è così bella.. Mi emoziona sempre ❤️
Avrò visto questo film 10 volte, non mi stanca mai..
Cynthia è straordinaria ❣️
È vero
This lady is a triple threat. Awesome dancer, singer and actress.
she is amazing. she was Penny on Dirty Dancing and so much more until she married Richard Marx
Very talented ❣️
She was Tina on Flashdance also.
Amazing 😍🙌
She’s just as nice as she is talented. I had the opportunity to meet her at a USO show in Athens Greece shortly after this movie came out.
Adored Cynthia. Phenomenal dancer. The layout, back bend, jete in this amazing 😍
IMHO ..Frank's songwriting quality and musical career was undermined by his Last Name. This is song is underrated.
Cynthia can sing, dance, act, a phenomenon ♡♡♡
My mom says I would crawl to the tv when this song/scene came up as a baby. They would play it and then let me run off somewhere in the house after just to rewind it and have me come crawling back. She always calls me whenever the movie is on tv and it makes me smile that it reminds her of me :)
That's cute)
She is gorgeous great dancer great singer she is magnificent and gorgeous. I wish I could dance like her.
Always liked this song, I like the movie, too. Not ashamed to admit it!
ohhhhhh my god!!!!! how do you watch this and not cry!!! precious precious memories and wooooow cynthia had some SERIOUS MOVES!!! the 80s I'd go back in a HEARTBEAT! !!!!♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Diane Alfieri I Agree with every word you wrote! I miss the 80’s soooo much! 👍🏻
Almost, I'm a grown man and I choked up
Me too, i'd go back too. Such a great decade
Believe me I cry. Especially at the end when it's over. Tears of joy. Total cornball scene even for the 80's
Stayin' Alive. This is my favorite part of the movie. She has such talent. Grace and beauty. I didn't know she was also in Flash Dance. Well deserved to be in that movie also. 💃🎶💕
Laurita Polk música lindíssima, amei, gamei, pirei, simplesmente belíssima. Brasil.
Cynthia Rhodes should be a judge on Dancing with the Stars. She has so much to bring to the show with her dance background.
Sonya Norman agreed!
so true. i always wondered what happened to her that she basically didn't do any movies after dirty dancing. she was so talented
+l.xtasy She married Richard Marx and had children. I guess she put all her energies in being his wife and raising their children.
Linda Kemp thanks Linda it's so sad she didn't do any movies but if her family kept her busy and happy...
Then he divorced her recently and married Daisy Fuentes. I would love to see her on the new "World of Dance". I totally would have given it up to raise my family too but now that they are grown I hope she goes for it.
she is amazing she dance act and sing so well....she is the perfect performer. ..really....
Underrated movie. For a movie everybody panned, this scene was incredible.
This is the best scene of the movie, seriously.
What is the name of this movie?
"Staying Alive"
Directed by Sylvester Stallone. From 1983.
The chemistry in this whole pjroject was beyond the charts. Still is.
I absolutely LOVE this movie and this song!! This was one of the best parts!!
Yes, I agree JessiLynn
I love it too, I even had the book back in the day. Lol!
"Staying Alive"
Jess Winner same
Still loving this dance scene! ❤️2023
Such a beautiful scene! Yes John Travolta can dance no question, however most of the numbers were choreographed to make him look good. Cynthia Rhodes is a trained dancer and she looks every inch a professional. Man they looked good in this number. Age is sooo cruel!
It isn't hard to make John look like a good dancer. The 9 months of endless training for *Saturday Night Fever* helped seal that deal.
Jhon travolta tremendo artista ..en todo sentido..bailarin innato
Exacto la escena. Una bailarina que seduce y el inspira.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I loved john travoltra when he was dancing.
and one of the most underrated

I would love to Cynthia her on screen/stage again! Since her sons are adults and she's divorced, I've got my fingers crossed......
I agree, Reginald! You could tell Fiona Hughes was a bit uncomfortable at times, but she's certainly found her stride. Best of luck to you, Reginald!
