The update problems also afects other items such as compueters, for example Apple and Windows, come updates tend to crash or solve some issues while causing problems or in some cases giving more headaches than happy solutions... Thanks for the review!! A question, in your experience which Garmin watch you would evaluate as the best multisport watch? leaving price out of the equation...
Purely multisport, non aviation, a Forerunner. I have used a Forerunner 935 with great results. You may consider going with the latest model. It is not the best looking watch, though. Multisport, aviation, Marq Aviator. A lot of Fenix 6 fitness features have already been ported to the Marq series. D2 series is due for an update (D2 Echo?). If D2E happened to be based on F6, I am guessing the new aviation features will also be ported to the Marq aviator. Thanks
Terrain maps are pre-loaded (trails are also shown). But I don't know if the maps show all the trails. You can easily add custom routes and follow them.
They are different lines and price ranges..there is also D2 Mach1, which in features compares closely to the Marq. At this point, I would not buy the Marq. I am hoping Garmin would release the next version of the Marq soon. I would look at the Air or Mach 1.
@@AV8OR51 thank you! I have the opportunity to get the air or also the Delta PX for a favorable price. The delta I can get only cones with titanium band. Tough decisions
@@AV8OR51 I think the Marq caught my eye solely because it looks so nice. What I like about the Delta PX is the moving map feature. I don’t know if that would make a big difference. I’d love to see how the direct to works without the moving map (is it basically an HSI with a needle to keep you on track?)
If you are referring to the HSI feature in the Air, that’s correct. Marq is indeed a great looking watch and would look even nicer with the AMOLED in the next version (my hope).
Besides the novelty aspect of this watch I would be interested to know what is the real life usage of this watch. Do owners of this watch actually refer to and utilize the aviation features or merely look at it from time to time just because it is there? Comments please?
The watch has the all the sports/fitness features of the high end Garmin sports watch (fenix). The Marq series is marked at a mainstream buyer who likes the way it appears, just like people buying aviator sun glasses are all not pilots. What are you specifically interested in the watch? Because there are cheaper versions (fenix, d2) that will do the same job as the aviator.
@@AV8OR51 Needless to say if someone is looking for sports/fitness watch they will not look at Aviator version and this is why my question was specifically regarding Aviation features. Furthermore you missed the point, D2 is half the price of Marq Aviator but even then my question remains the same and unanswered, real life utility if any, price is irrelevant to this question. Just because a watch is cheaper like the D2 does not make it more useful. Or put in another way just because you have a cheaper version of Aviators watch does not translate to that it will be more useful.
@@ayamanu Yeah, your correct - I didn't get your question..I can't tell you whether or not people using the Aviator for aviation purposes. if I have to guess, it is either the appearance or the combination of appearance and use case. Aviation functionality-wise, the Aviator performs about the same as a D2 PX. It comes down to what you want the use to watch for.
@@AV8OR51 Thank you for your responses. Even you as a pilot cannot sell this :) so like I thought it is safe to say that these aviation features are basically a gimmick with no real life use. Pretty hefty price to pay for extra metal
I think your review was pretty good. Highlighting the issues of a product is a key feature of any review. Would I buy one? No! It’s not for me although I do like the look of it. Titanium is a favourite watch material of mine...I have four. If you’re shot down behind enemy lines this watch could be a lifesaver, otherwise, from an aviation perspective. It’s too small to be used in flight and I don’t need to know the latest METAR in the bar.
Nice watch, however, I cannot imagine a single scenario when I would use this watch to Navigate direct to a particular airport BEFORE using the G1000 glass cockpit almost standard on most aircraft, Foreflight, in cockpit GPS, R-NAV, VORs and NDBs, simple map reading.......and worst case if I'm really lost and confused, reach out to ATC for assistance. 3000k Canadian is a little steep for a watch that seems to have little practicality for real world aviation.
Lol , i fly fixed wing and hang gliders ( mainly hang gliders ) and , i cannot think of one reason to purchase this watch , sorry to be a bore . Everything this watch can do , ( in my case ) take your iPad with and download Garmin pilot , OR ( for Hang gliders ) buy a vario ( something this watch doesn’t have . Nice watch but i think it falls into the “ want “ catagory , not the :”need “ . ( Ps , i have the fenix 6x pro , pretty much does everything this watch does barring airport link info which i can get from my iPad 🙃 )
You can actually add airport database as waypoints to your 6x. You can even download a third party Fly app and METAR/TAF widget through connect iq. Thanks for checking out!
HEY I have D2 charlie, I fly in Nepal there is no NEXRAD obviously, how can i get a weather map. Garmin advertised it as a world wide moving weather map. wtf !
I don't blame you. Garmin's newest pilot watch D2 Air can do most of the things as the Marq at 1/4th price...btw..you have a cool channel. A glider flight is on my bucket list..one day for sure. Thanks for watching.

Garmin is very innovative but the QC is not good enough for me to purchase a MARQ. The money you spend on a MARQ could get you half way to an Omega X-33 or a Breitling Navitimer. You can use your phone and Garmin Pilot for the flight features the Omega and the Breitling lack. I'll keep my D2 Charlie for small plane flying and fitness. If I want a real pilot watch I'll get an Omega or Breitling.
this comes down to personal opinion. Nobody watching this review cares about how hard you get over omega or breitling. You even went as far to name two specific models which says a lot. Maybe one day you’ll be sit back and go “hmm, should I watch a review on something I’d never spend my money on and then comment anyways so I feel good about myself.” 🤙🏻
@Johnny Utah Guess what? The comment section is where people express their personal opinions. That's how this whole crazy thing works. No need to get triggered dude. It's obvious that you rode the short bus to school so i'll break this down for you. I don't give a shit about what people that I will never meet think about me. I share my opinion to give a perspective. If someone has a different viewpoint that makes sense I'll change my mind. The only reason I mentioned Omega and Breitling is because the MARQ is encroaching in to luxury watch territory. I just don't think it's worth the money. If you want a MARQ get it. I just bought the D2 Delta and I'll pick up the Omega X-33 when I find a good deal. In the mean time why don't you crawl back under your bridge and I’ll continue to post whatever ever the hell I want.
