Making something simple sound good is the difference from being a good guitarist, or a great guitarist. You are one great guitarist.

Hi John, Thank you! I admit, I still struggle when trying to play by ear and pick single melody notes while I am listening to a song. As you have stated, "There are many locations to play an "E" note." When I hear a song, I'm fairly good at recognizing say, an "A" note for example. And as long as I play an "A" note, it won't be wrong, right?
But, I ask myself, "Of the many locations on guitar, where should I play that "A" note to exactly match what I hear on a song?" That's when I gaze at a fingerboard diagram and pick another location to see if it works better. So, when I see videos such as yours here, it does help to decipher the fingerboard. Regards, Tim

Thanks for the insightful comment, Tim. That process is extremely helpful for ear training. You get into the finer details of how notes sound on the guitar. Well said. Thanks again. John
