Superb compilation John. Exactly what this life of angling is all about, the places, the people, bei g at one with nature & of course, catching fish. I feel privileged to be a part of this community that has been made by your passion for fishing. You should be very proud of the positive effect your films have had on so many people. All the very best for 2025.
Many thanks as always, mate. I’m about to go for a family walk around the Weybridge area and will be fondly recalling our chance meeting there this summer. You’ve been a big part of the community and I hope we might get to wet a line together in ‘25. Thanks again for such kind words and all the support 💙
Well after the Turkey and tinsel along came the most amazing gift (apart from your book!). A video that surpassed any that I had seen before. Memories that are kept in the mind, transposed onto film. Warm, exciting, wondorous, loving and above all honest and natural. Thank you John. Stay safe and a Happy New Year to you and your family.
Wow, thank you David 💙 I’m glad I could do the year justice, as I’ve done more fishing and made more angling memories than I’ve managed in a long time 🎣 A happy new year to you when it comes!
Some videos dont need words and this was definitely one of them, just a lovely lovely video and some great memories made for ever.Thank you John for taking the time and trouble to do what you do well done.
All I can say is it’s magic words of encouragement like this that make all the effort feel worthwhile - it might only take a minute but it means the world. Really glad you enjoyed it and I hope to keep the camera rolling in 2025. Hope you’re having a relaxing time 🍻
Thank you for sharing your experiences and memories. Many of my own memories have been triggered when watching your films and have reminded me that it's not always the fish that make a red letter day. Looking forward to your adventures next year. 🧔 👍
Couldn’t agree more, Bob! Even if we sometimes think that a special day on the bank needs a special fish (or a lot of fish), the fact is they don’t. And the older I get, the more I understand that fish are the icing on the cake… Definitely the sweetest thing, which we all crave, but a fraction of the overall experience. People, places and nature are surely the main ingredients, although another thing about fishing is that you can enjoy it with a good friend, a club, or completely alone. It’s been challenging but rewarding to share my angling experiences for a full calendar year and I hope to continue into the new year 🍻 Thanks again for your support 💙
Lovely compilation, tight lines for next year. Looking forward to when the new videos drop, a cup of tea in my favourite chair with my 'do not disturb' face on.
LOL, l love that 😆 Thanks for a fantastic comment and tight lines right back at you - hope you have a cracking year, punctuated by many happy ‘do not disturb’ moments 😄👌
Well done John, what a year you've had..👍 Lovely community and video compilation Sir. Very heartwarming to see messages from people saying how your vids have helped them in life. Had a few of them myself, it can be very inspiring.. Enjoyed the vid immensely and may there be plenty more of them in the future.. You know what's coming next don't you, yes it's another ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s my friend..😊👍P.s always nice to see Smiffy..😉
Yes, a Smiffy video bomb to end 2024! I’ll never forget going on a summer stroll around Weybridge and suddenly hearing my name being shouted by a Baggie who - at that very moment - I didn’t know from Adam! Just another example of the mini adventures this RUclips lark keeps taking me on 😀 MASSIVE thanks for your ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews - the Empire magazine of TMOF! And equally big thanks for your own ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ channel that played a big role in helping me discover fishing on the Thames this year. Shame there’s not yet a Guinness emoji but I hope we manage one next year 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
Another very nice video John to watch on a foggy December afternoon. An inspiring video showing nature at its best and some nice fish and your beautiful wife. Well filmed and edited. Looking forward to more of the same. Your videos just get better. All the best to you and yours for 2025.
Ahhh thanks, John, that means a great deal - both the well wishes and the comment about the videos getting better. I like to think I keep learning with each one but I reckon fishing has got to be right up there with some of the trickiest subject matters! While ever it remains a part-time hobby, I’m at the mercy of when my spare time falls, the great British weather and, of course, the fish! They say never work with animals and kids, but working with fish and being the researcher, presenter, cameraman, soundman, and editor can be pretty damn tricky 😄 Lucky for me it can also be very enjoyable and rewarding - especially when you get comments like this 💙🎣🐟
Lovely video John. You’ve not had a bad years fishing pal. You have travelled to some iconic locations and caught some cracking fish. Best of all you’ve took us along with you. All the best for 2025 tight lines pal 🎣🎣🎣
I discovered your content recently. Living near the Blackwater, Loddon, and Thames, I was doing some research and found your channel. My partner knows I’m a little obsessed with fishing now I’ve rediscovered my passion after a 20 year break. She travels each week with work and was talking to a colleague 6,000 miles away and they talked about my passion for fishing. He recommended she should buy me your book for Christmas as he loves it. A strange coincidence. Keep up the great videos and looking forward to reading your book.
What a cracking video. Very heartwarming and there’s been many occasion I haven’t been able to go fishing with one thing or another and it’s your videos that are kept me going …. You are one in 1 million buddy. Would be absolutely great if you could get yourself on the TV. All the best to you and the family 👍😁🥰🎣
Haha, thanks so much, John - my wife Rachel keeps telling me I should be on the telly 😆 So good to know that you enjoy the vids when you can’t make it out and I massively appreciate all the support in return. Hope you’re having a grand Christmas 🎄
What a amazing compilation, truly encapsulates what our great sport is all about, thank you john, tight lines, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig.. P.s hope you had a great festive period and a happy new year..
Same to you Craig! I’ve not managed to get on the bank yet but still got a few days of holiday to enjoy so you never know. Thanks for all your wonderful comments and support for the channel - it really does mean a lot and make the effort worthwhile 💙 Here’s to a fishy 2025 🎣
Some wonderful shots of a bit of everything that's going on in our countryside John, some great fishing for you and your mates this year John and I am looking forward for you to excel to even greater catches hopefully ,for us the viewers and yourself mate, all the best for the new year, and you obviously could not show this film without the Head of the Catering Department given a cameo appearance eh mate, cheers mate all the best for the new year.
Paul, you are one of the originals and I can’t really put into words what that kind of consistent support has meant over the first 18 months of this little adventure! 💙 It all started as a bit of a laugh, an experiment to see if I could keep my book alive while sharing a few thoughts from the bank, but getting a positive reaction from strangers - if any keen anglers can be said to be strangers - was both surprising and encouraging. Indeed, it breathed new life into my fishing and for that I thank you 🙏
Brilliant video 👏 I lost a good friend and a fishing buddy a couple of weeks ago, he wasn’t one for having his photo taken or videos but now I wish I ignored him and taken some. Priceless memories 👍
Many thanks, Chris l💙 Sorry to hear about your friend. They hard enough to lose, never mind if you’ve shared many bankside exploits over the years. I lost my match fishing mentor, Jim Baxter, this year and luckily had one or two pics on my phone from when I managed to get him on the bank. Here’s to old fishing friends 🍻
Special people ha ha ha surely i should come the heading of Special needs. Happy new year mate and hopefully you will come out of hibernation when the weather improves
Cheers mate! Don’t you worry, I’m not a fair weather angler, it’s just been full on with family and work in recent weeks. Oh and the daylight seems to vanish soon after I get up 😆 Thanks for all the tips, angling memories, banter and support for the channel this year 💙 And may you break the chub record in 2025… 🐟 Or win the Gold Valley open!
