Full Disclosure: I down graded my pledge to just the PDFs because I currently run C&C online exclusively and the physical books do nothing to forward my process of preparation.
Yeah -- agree with you. I think you have all of the homage cover printings -- so yeah -- really no reason for you to get the physical books. The last physical books I have are the demon/knight cover of the PHB and the male fighter holding the body of the female fighter cover of the CK Guide. (I have more recent printings in PDF). I was actually about to buy the homage cover versions -- when this Kickstarter came along -- so worked out for me. I was just on the Live session with Stephen Chenault and he said they were thinking of putting that "25"th anniversary logo -- somewhere on these books -- to distinguish it as the "Reforged" printings -- since they will still use the homage covers. Super cool. I hope they end up doing that.
Yes. They are doing it. Stephen Chenault just posted a picture of the PHB with the Troll Lord 25th Anniversary patch on the Kickstarter page. Awesome!! I love that patch -- as both Stephen and Davis are Army veterans -- and so are you -- and so am I. Reminds me of an Army war patch.
Great video! Thanks for doing this one. Yes, I also backed at $175. Haven't purchased physical copies of the printings in a while -- so this was a great deal for me! And the Foundry VTT content!!
The game system itself hasn’t changed significantly since then, so you’re good with what you got. I was running an AD&D 1E campaign for 2 years with original books from 1979-80.
I compared the PDFs and found the pages that varies. Rogue ends on page 73 in the 8th printing but ends on page 74 in the 10th printing. This appears because there is an added image of a rogue that does not appear in the previous version. I think the image is a great addition by the way.
@@DM_Bluddworth Also the both of the illusionist images on page 41 and 42 have be greatly resized as I believe other images have as well. That my be how they were able to get so close to the same page count by page 74 but not exactly the same.
Yes, agreed on tattoos for Gnomes. I like the way that C&C envisions gnomes, better than D&D and Pathfinder -- but yeah there was no need for a ton of tattoos for Gnomes.
@@Decado1628 I’ve gone back and forth on it myself, between just backing for the PDFs or going for the whole deal. Ultimately I went with whole deal for the VTT bonus at $100+ pledge level. I’ll try to sell off my other printings and hope that they come out with Spell Card sets. They have acknowledged that they have received several requests for Spell Cards.
@@Decado1628 I’d buy every deck, physical and PDF, so that my players (spell casters) could cut and paste the spells in spell book or the spells they have memorized.
With d&d in creative commons was this even needed? I didn't back, as I have almost everything they produce for c&c and was just getting people into it. So if its just renaming magic middle to magic bolt I might just be out as any new player would have different terminology.
No need whatsoever to buy this. I've got everything and since they've released a draft of the revised PHB, this is an easy pass. I neither need or nor want renamed spells, monsters, etc. They could go to just giving straight XP instead of sticking with the old 1e method where you multiply by HP, but I don't think they've done that. Likewise, the stat blocks in their modules are trash, but they apparently feel no need to update those either.
I agree if you already have physical books of the homage covers this is a hard one at the $175 level. Best buy in this case would be to support them and to get all of the Foundry VTT content at the $99 dollar level. That's a good level if you use Foundry VTT like I do.
@@sunsin1592 Yes, I agree with you if you already have the homage cover printings. Only reason then would be the $99 level to get the Foundry VTT content. Yes, no reason if you already own a recent printing version. It's like DM Bludsworth said that's why the pledge level for this KS isn't as high as some game/company that is doing all new content/rule books. This is basically another print of C&C. For "printings" them breaking $140K is actually very impressive. I do hope the put something on the covers/spine of these books. Like a "reforged" label or something to distinguish them slightly from the homage cover versions.
Yes. I looked at the new draft PHB book recently. Yes, all 24 levels for all the classes that are in the books. They are split into two tables Levels 1-12 and 13-24 but they are there for every class listed in the book. At some point will be nice for them to do 1-24 tables instead of doing the add on Level 13-24 tables.

Nice way to provide easy comparisons between the editions. I have the latest 10th pdf edition but so eager to see the print.
Wishing them all the best with the new printing. I've got a stack of their materials already so might give this a miss for a while.
That's a great preview. Thanks!
Awesome! I am so looking forward to this release.
Wow---I feel so left behind. I'm still using my first printing of the PHB that I got 20 years ago.....😆

@@DM_Bluddworth You have that right. AD&D 1e is still a great game system. If you have the books, yes, why not use them.
I much prefer the 'tribute cover' books that look like the original 1E books

That’s what I was thinking too, but there was a Priest image that was removed. That may put it back on track.

Yes, page counts are different mainly because of adding some new are and removing some old art.
It looks like monster Hit Dice was changed to monster level, see Fighter exp. table.
Yes, looks like it. Good catch!
I am not a fan of the Gnomes having a tattoo fetish or the halflings having beards.

I am not convinced to back at this point. I do want the new Monsters & Treasures book but I am not a fan of the new format for spells.

Regarding the Spell list organizing, to me it would make sense to list each classes spells in alphabetical order vs how it is now by level?
