Our food at food banks is donated by local stores of things that they are over stocked with or close to going out of date. You have to qualify for our food banks by being so much below poverty level. You have to show ID of each person in your house, your income, if you are on any state assistance.
@@BeckyCreger-vs5ce I know there are quite a few like that as well as there are a lot that do not ask any questions other than your name. This one you fill out your name, address and income. How many in your house.
Wonderful haul! You can also chop and then flash freeze freeze the peppers on a cookie sheet and then place them in a Ziploc bag so that you can scoop out the amount you need for a recipe
Looks like I'm going to have to get me a dehydrator which I always see at the resale shops and pass them out but I'm going to get one learn how to use it you're teaching me a lot I didn't even know you could dehydrate looking so I'm learning a lot from you thank you God bless you and your family
I think what you mentioned about the watermelons is a good point people do not think of. A lot of people who go to food drops also do things to help others. It may be sharing what they get, delivering boxes to others, etc. I often bring extra things like clearance deals to donate. I gleaned a truckload of apples from an orchard and gave them to family, church family, our church blessing box and the food pantry. Most people are not just takers, we give too because we know the struggles.
@@regularmompantrylife2587 that is correct. A lot of people do go and share the items they receive. I know of a lady that goes to this one and then in turn passes it out to shut ins within the neighborhood as well as fills up one of our blessing boxes.
I wish that we would have something like that come here in North Central Iowa. We do have food banks but to be totally honest, you don't even get enough for 2 days of meals. We haven't had fresh fruits or vegetables since late summer. Don't get me wrong, every little bit they help with is appreciated.
