Congrats on beating it! I went with Karlach on my first run, I've also done Shadowheart and Laezel's romances. They're all really well written with great character arcs. You should do at least 1 more pkaythrough as the Dark Urge origin. It's basically a customizable character with a backstory tied to the main plot.

Maybe the game checks your account and reactions chance according to hours played - try 2000 hours instead of 200. Maybe then he goes - Yeah, my rear is looking hard for a seat
