I had a JX-08 for a little over a year, and honestly it sounds really great for what it is! With independent effects on both voices and the ability for each channel to be independently controlled by midi, you have a pretty powerful two voice module for a small hardware set-up. That being said, I found myself using the classic patches more than anything else and eventually sold it and bought a real JX-8P and love that even more 🙂.
I'm glad I've been able to basically watch this channel from the beginning. Because I would lose at least a week of my life watching every video up to this point.

I think you're right regarding the boutique range. Roland should do more to emphasise that these are not a reissue of the old synths but a budget synth made with influence from the classic ones. I’m just gonna say it: this sounds pretty good and it’s the best “Roland 80s DCO synth recreation” in the boutique line. Now I just hope everyone disagrees and the prices plummet so I can get one for dirt cheap.

My weekly synth education. Its breakfast time when I watch here in Oz, so I sit down with coffee, eggs, sausage and avocado, and enjoy some sweet pilz jams while learning about another synth i never knew existed.
A note regarding the noisy USB. If you are in the UK, use an official Apple iPhone or iPad charger to power it. They have a proper Earth connection which sorts out the USB noise (not sure if this applies to other country’s Apple chargers). This works on all the Boutiques. Obviously no good if you are connecting to a PC but useful if you are using them as a standalone synth.
I quite like this one for quick fun. I usually set up something repetitive on one part and then go a little crazy with the other part. It find it very performative all by itself. The bass sounds in your tracks hit really nicely.

Nice episode once again! Got my JX-08 for almost a year now and I'm still loving it. Bought it mainly because of its ultrafat bass sounds and they never disappoint and always sit great in the mix. (as perfectly demonstated in your jams!) Personally I dont care if it sounds exactly like a JX-8P. For my taste, it delivers this authentic 80s punch and thanks to several very good creamy choruses (chorae ??? :-) and a nice filter it's a great choice for every synthwave production. Luckily the polyphony of 20 voices and 1cm longer faders make it way more usable than other boutiques.
Glad you covered the comparison. My JX8P has an issue and I've not looked at it for a bit, but this boutique doesn't sound quite the same, but it's nice in its own right.

My music buddy -- I don't play conventional keyboards with comfort and this is an ongoing issue but he does, he had piano lessons as a kid --- once groaned out in response to a Depeche Mode song, "I love the eighties." I wanted something that would sit on that stupid menu panel it has on the right-hand side that had ACTUAL CONTROLS. I swear, it gave me hives for decades. So with that in mind, it was gratifying to hear you say nice things about the unit. I wish it had seperate controls for both envelopes and more waveforms but honestly, I like it a lot.

As usual Florian hits the nail on the head. This Boutique module really doesn’t capture much of the sound or the vibe of its namesake, but it sounds really good as its own thing. your composition skills are unbelievable 🤩
Thank you so much!!!
Despite being another expensive Roland boutique, i must recon it sounds damn great ! Waiting for the Aira compact version 😂
Lol
As cool as Roland makes their stuff look, Bad Gear channel removed the curtain once again so that we can see what's up. This may not be bad, but it would be bad for my wallet. Thank you once again sir for saving me repackaging fees on return shipment.
Always a pleasure!!! Thank you!
Haha another great addition and video. Top work outs as always. I do like how you always use an old yellow key midi controller to do these tracks, nuff respect ✊
Thank you so much!!!
3:10 your dad joke game is only getting stronger.
Thank you so much!!!
You made that thing sound ridiculously cool!
Thank you!!!
Name a more iconic duo: Roland and Bad Gear
😍😍😍
The forbidden magic of bringing back the dead; in tiny sizes. Oh, grandma !
Lol, that story was so weird
I'm sold. Good work!
Thank you!!!
Forced my History class to watch this today, because I'll be damned if I'm going to wait till the end of class to do so. A+ for the "Evolution of the Trash icon" meme.
Thank you so much!!! You're a great teacher!!!
Ups, you did it again. Bad gearing a Roland Synth🫢
Best!!!
looking at my JX8P while watching this!
😻😻😻
Thank you so much for the review. I liked the sound and the price so I will get one. Thanks for your great program!😊
As usual Florian hits the nail on the head. This Boutique module really doesn’t capture much of the sound or the vibe of its namesake, but it sounds really good as its own thing. I could deal with the panel omissions but trying to simultaneously tweak the amp and filter envelopes from a single set of ADSR sliders is something I will not entertain. I’m considering selling my AX60 for this very reason.
Thanks!!! I really want an AX60 for the show though...
@@AudioPilz good choice. I have a severe love/hate relationship with the thing.
Looking forward to the 100k extravaganza.
So do I;) Thanks!
Cool video and not sure the referring to Kraft on just that video is happy happy joy joy!
Big fan of Espen. He really knows his stuff!
Great work as always!
Thank you!!!
Special Review Request: The back breaking 7 kg monster from 2001 - the Yamaha RS7000

HA!!!! I haven't recently bought this!!! Just like every Friday, thank you for making it 🍄❤️👽🤙🤙
Nice!!! Thank you!!!
Sweet Jesus, the sheer number of jokes in this episode. LOL!
😀😀😀
Wow, those were some great sounding jams. Almost made me get out my credit card.
Thank you!!!
Nice jams in this one, despite this filter sounding like the worst LPF I've heard this decade. :)
Thank you! Shots fired;)
Klangfabre the mf mvp they always blessing you blessing us with the tasty jams
Legend!!! Thanks!
Rennie Harlan pumps out a modern 80's scifi movie...with modern cgi and live action cheeze.
Soundtrack by Audioplz.
I'm in!
@@AudioPilz Dude you're perfection for a Flash Gordon type movie done today.
2010, a Roland Odyssey 😂
Rocking it as always 🤘🤘
❤️❤️❤️
I feel like there are more boutique episodes on this channel than chairs at Roland corporation
There's some truth to that;)
I'm glad they included the original fart with reverb reverb in the 08 🙌🙌
😂😂😂
You nailed the conclusion - it's a good sounding little synth which doesn't do what it says on the tin.
Thank you!
I will never understand minijacks for a "pro" level synth. Gut Job!
Vielen Dank!
Sounds pretty darn cool!❤❤
❤️❤️❤️
