Hip Hop back then wasn't really as popular as it is today, not as a mainstream public choice. So the artists that did this kind of music had to be in it for the art, not the money. I think that's really what made the 90's so different in terms of the quality of independent hip hop music.
there is this hip hop group that existed in atlanta and it was called “yall so stupid”. everything about their first (and only) album “van full of pakistans” is absolutely amazing and it saddens me that the album didnt get the publicity it deserved. skater rappers in 93 is something kind of rare. you saying you wonder what these people are doing nowadays, like exactly bro i think the same things.

I hear a lot about the golden era and 90s hip hop. I'm a fan of all the popular hip hop that came out during that time (de la soul, nas, wu tang, PR&CL, and I call it popular cause their music from that time is all well known). But all the underground artists as well that put out music during this time is what makes this era so great for me, hip hop wasn't at it's 'peak' so to speak solely because of a few good artists/groups.. i'd say it was the collective that made it amazing in my opinion.

The problem is getting old school type producers for this type of lyricist young artist. Not that many great producers out there crafting art. They're not putting the work to put themselves out there and find the right pieces for some great hip hop connection.

I hear a lot about the golden era and 90s hip hop. I'm a fan of all the popular hip hop that came out during that time (de la soul, nas, wu tang, PR&CL, and I call it popular cause their music from that time is all well known). But all the underground artists as well that put out music during this time is what makes this era so great for me, hip hop wasn't at it's 'peak' so to speak solely because of a few good artists/groups.. i'd say it was the collective that made it amazing in my opinion.
