One of my favourite episodes that didn't feature Venger... Really liked the varying sister/brother relationship dynamic in this episode too - the evil Zinn keeping her estranged brother Sorlaz under a curse, and Sheila conversely being the protective big sister looking out for her little brother, and Bobby looking up to Sheila

And a Yellow Dragon - first and only time that was used in any capacity- and yes there is such a thing, from Greyhawk Adventures hardcover if I remember correctly
So... what the hell is Bobby's Con score anyway? As a Barbarian he should have been the most likely to be able to shrug off that poison.

Earlier editions poisons were nasty. He probably made his save, and suffered anyway. Usually failing a poison save was just instant death, so being sick for days was probably the best he could hope for.

80's stuffiness. Gygax wanted a cleric, which of course would never fly on Saturday morning. So Diana became an acrobat. The character class wasnt in hardcover until Unearthed Arcana in 1985, but was probably in Dragon Magazine before that.

This episode would’ve been a lot shorter if DM had just told Eric he had lesser restoration

I like how the water dragon snaps Diana's staff with its mouth. Then a few seconds later, the staff magically reappears in her hands. It's also interesting how Diana's staff changes length from 4 feet to 10 feet, depending on the situation.

See, dungeon master is such a manipulative monster. I bet that lizard thing wasn't even natural to those waters, then dungeon master summoned it to get it hooked on their rod. All that to get them doing yet another quest.

Awesome and harrowing episode! No doubt the screenwriters made references to Ancient and Medieval History with Zinn and Sir Lawrence. Royalty in those times married of all ages as crazy as it sounds!

Wasn't that old when this show aired, but I remember the archer (Ranger) was the coolest and spoke to me the most, and still to this day The Ranger character (and rogue) are my favourites.
Just wait until they figure out that Dungeon Master was behind every single thing that happened to them. Twisted mind indeed.
I was kind of worried for Diana's pole when it snapped like that but I should've remembered it's a magic pole so it's only broken in the loosest sense. It would repair itself exactly when and where it was needed.
I'm glad they actually showed it repairing itself too, so it wasn't just a continuity error.

According to the Wikipedia article, Eric's 15 and Sheila is 13. Seems Zinn's rulers need to learn about the age of consent.
That is a very very well developed 14 year old!!

I was proud of her when she put on her cloak on and vanished with the creature attacked from the pond.
The writers have made her the weakest with powers, but the strongest heart and soul.
Additionally, the writers don't allow her to be much good either. She is the ultimate scout and infiltrator

One of the things which made this cartoon show so brilliant was scary stuff like Stalker. I think I probably found that character a bit creepy and was more scared of having nightmares about it than actually being scared of the character. But it's this kind of respect for the audience that kids aren't getting anymore. I've turned this in to another rant haven't I . Such is life when you're a grumpy old git like me! Take me back to the 80's when the world made sense.
It was done well with elements of danger and threats mixed with adventure and thrills promoting creative escapes, rational, self sacrifice, friendships and loyalty.

DM’s fault for conjuring up a Dragon Turtle tricking the kids into another quest to help others. Bobby gets infected from that DT’s bite, DM’s forlorn look at them before moving behind a tree to disappear again. Glad the kids endure difficult times and this in Middle Earth. Plus, learning a lot from obstacles they faced; Phantom Stalkers, giant earth worms, etc. The Yellow Dragon’s Foot is a rarity from a D&D book. Glad the first live-action film sequel used the dialogue, literature, dragons, creatures, etc from the D&D manuals.

Been so long since I've seen this episode, i forgot the story. So I was wondering who Zinn's chosen king was going to be... likely Hank or Presto,
or even Bobby -- but the episode would need another 30min to follow that plot twist, maybe the Smoke Stalkers tell Zinn her king is at Sir Lars house so she goes there with the cure for Bobby and tries to kidnap him -- BUT of course she chose Eric: in my realm he's the type of prick that hot ladies seem to like

They had to learn to not trust first impresions and don't judge by apperance, hadn't learned if he had just solved all.

I'm normally a big Sheila fan but I think this episode really brought out the best in Diana. She really shines in this one in the absence of Sheila. Actually that's kind of selling Diana a bit short. She's actually the source of much of the comic relief and keeps Eric in his place a lot of the time. And I don't mean she's there just as a figure of fun. In fact she serves a very important role in the group and

Granted, Diana is the second in command and actually has the best powers when their weapons are taken.
