Spectator Race V8class - on Dirt // Shawano Speedway 2018

- This is the Shawano Speedway (Wisconsin) Spectator racing year end finally. They basically have a slow class and fast class. Slow = "4/6 class” fast = "v-8 class”. AWD cars run in the v-8 class... I don’t make the rules...
There is a long history of the same v-8 muscle cars winning year after year at these event. When I talked to most people about an evo being able to beat said cars, they laughed at me thinking it couldn't. And other, relatively stock evo's tried in the past and lost. Of course All wheel drive is an advantage. I'm not going to argue that. But i will argue that being all wheel drive is not the ONLY reason the evo won. It takes horsepower, good handling and a decent driver to win. If you think otherwise, please bring your car to the next event and show us how its done!

When I saw that it was a dirt track, then saw the evo pull up in the first race I was like "soooo are they gonna just give him the trophy now or....?"

You either have to make these 2 laps, or put the 4 wheel drive cars in a different class.

PHILLIP GOLOSINSKIY... I agree two laps won't make any difference as obviously on dirt awd has the advantage. But those old muscle cars are not slow that's just pretentious european nonsense, As why then in the last couple of these I've watched did I see a z28 beat a e63 amg, or a trans Am beat a Impreza and evo.. As on tarmac awd has no real advantage outside of the launch...

2: if there were no advantage why do so many of them enter [and win]? As for why you saw a Z28 and Trans Am win; skill plays a role as well. jmo.

Man if the crowd didnt appreciate the 4 wheel drift by the Evo then they arent car guys/girls. Not sure how i Feel about the last race, the red car wasnt being very sportsmanlike imo.

Rubbing is racing unless you're driving an open wheel car (As in wheelchairs)you bring your car out there to play in the dirt and you're afraid of scratching it then you need to leave it in the parking lot.......
Rubbing is racing i agree with but purposefully blocking someone who is much faster than you and almost side swiping them off the track is just low i think

Yeah, 4WD cars like the WRX just cant be beat out of the hole, especially on dirt. So the opponent spends the rest of the race trying to make that up. There should be a separate class for 4WD.

*Clearly* AWD should be it's own class; especially on dirt. It's akin to having a "winter condition"
spectator race where full size 4 x 4's compete against midsize 2 x 4 trucks and FWD cars.

Idk if it's just me but, kinda looks like the Evo let the other driver win in the last race.
He caught up to him hella quick, even with the advantage used, he could've passed him on the 2nd straight but stayed a decent amount behind. I assume BECAUSE he wanted to take the gap on the last turn, which didn't happen.
Idk, just me but feel like the Evo driver wanted to stay a bit humble and not embarrass the guy cause, we all know, easily could've.

Yup, just search Boosted Films. Sorry for your wreck this weekend. Looks like you have more power than us. This is just a stock 9 turbo, 1000cc injectors, exhaust, GSC S1's and e-85.
Boosted Films yeah last year I raced on a stock turbo and stock block w/ 183k on it made 383hp/380tq on pump e60. Basic bolt ons. I’m still stock frame turbo I just upgraded the wheels now makes 515 so I had to build the block :(
Damn 1000cc injectors? Those things must be maxed out or you run a crazy high base. I was on FIC 1200 and a single AEM 320 and I was making out both pump and injectors. I have FIC 2150 and radium surge tank w/ twin 450 now. It’s not always about power and fastest car. I honestly think my car was faster with the stock turbo last year going around a circle like that.
But I love what you’re doing. Pretty badass in the dirt. Good driving too

385~ my best guess. Stock motor with GSC s1 cams. Stock evo 9 turbo. Exhaust, intake, injectors and e-85.
Could be 200...Its AWD in dirt.

eh....probably not. you could get close to the same whp with a super aggressive tune but your haldex rear diff really is junk and wont let you push it that hard in the turns, also you're 1,100 lbs heavier. i would like to see one run on a dirt track though. driving it like a fwd would probly get the best results

You need to make it awd first. Right tires , suspension, and camber set on front and rear for curves , you might give him a run for his money. The extra weight would keep you having better traction, but you would have to keep motor spooled up.

@@BoostedFilms Hey man, first off my buddy posted the comments from my channel from my shop in the past. This is Ben, i have the Lumina. But my friend wasn't far off. There is only one car that trailers to the races weekly and im not gonna call him out on it. Its been a huge topic of discussion in the past because the rules do state all cars must be street driven and driven to the track. But i do have to say that these cars are not $500 dollar clunkers or pieces of crap ( although you do get a junker show up once in a while just to make a lap). I spent years to get my car to handle and go around the corners. Unfortunately at this fair race I just reblocked my engine , re ringed, new cam, blah blah, and i had the unfortunate luck of a pin hole opening up in one of my cylinder walls due to the fact that the block was pretty rusty inside and my engine is .060 over. No big deal i have a new block, winter project. Now, in the past there have been a few AWD cars that ran and after about two nights of them spanking the v'8s they said that they would have to run in their own class, and two drivers did race for a whole season in an AWD class, i belive in 2014 or 2015. But only two cars got kinda boring for them and they pretty much quit after that year. But this year i guess nobody decided to enforce the rule, whatever no big deal, the spectators have been getting pretty slim over the years anyways. But i Really don't understand the people commenting here that think, oooh, v8's getting spanked by a 4 cylinder, ohhhh awesome.... Well come race my 4 wd truck on the ice this winter with your 2wd truck. Thats pretty much the logic here. We have all spent countless hours weighting, cleaning leaf springs, putting in poly bushings and greasing them before a race, setting up drag shocks on the front end and anything else we could to get these cars to launch off the line, because face it, between the v8 cars, 75 percent of the races are won off the line here, if you get out front you have a pretty good shot at winning. Launching/ traction off the line is key here. So i guess what im saying is , a lot of drivers and fans are butt hurt about it because it has been a war between the v8's for years and people want to see the battle between them and letting one AWD car in that is eliminating half the field one race at a time kinda messes up the class. Now, i do respect what you have going on with your car, i watched your videos and hey man you got a passion for it and the car seems to be doing pretty well. Running 12's, that's respectable. Fastest i ever ran in the lumina was 13.4 with a stock torque converter, which i did swap out to a 3500 stall two years ago but never got a change to hit up WIR since. Other spectator cars have run 13 flat and mid to high 12's that i know of. Besides all of this, there isn't even money involved here, its all about who is fastest that week, or as of the last few years, beating Dave in the Camaro, seeing that he has dominated it for so long. So yeah, the boys get bent out of shape when an AWD is allowed into this year long battle of the v8's, do you blame them? Me, i could care less, keep it coming. I've got a AWD project ive been working on now for a couple of month's, maybe we can have a grudge race next season at the track. Have a good one...
