Music video by INXS performing The Gift. (C) 1993 Mercury Records Limited - Видеоклипы
The gift you gave is gonna last forever
Out of nowhere, just in time..shared my life..always these..are mine..all the life you find..here we live looking up to empty skies & all the promises we find....I'm not the first person to ask why..I was thinking..the gift you gave is going to last forever. All these scars are mine. I was thinking got this feeling..all the lies you found, all the tunes you see. The gift you gave is going to last forever..💙..I know it's Mine..all the lines you find..the rise & fall..all these scars are mine. Remembering Michael Hutchence, May He Be at Peace With US.
Веришь в прошлые жизни ... актуальная тема
Близкие и родные души связаны друг с другом на все времена ❤
Beautiful man.
Looks like our world.
For some reason, I only knew of this band from this song when it came out. But then I was only 10 years old at the time, and hardly had much music appreciation. Legendary band they are
I was 13 years old when Michael Hutchence died, I knew who he was because of the whole Paula thing, and of course I remember the infamous big breakfast interview, alas I was to young to appreciate the awesomeness of this band! but by god am I appreciating the shit out of them now!! absolutely amazing!!
Thank you Michael very cool!
Wow still such a powerful song. I still have the 7 inch vinyl single of this!
Great song!
Now, put this song on the radio, don't say the name of the band and look for reactions. How many people will be thinking that this "new" band is good, I wonder...
@orinocoPL
It would like U2 releasing The Fly to the radio in 1991 without saying who it is. People are expecting their 1980s sound. I think INXS tried to reinvent their sound as like a grunge sound.
Absolutely!
True, they were ahead of time, kind of
Amazing ! Will rock even a Dead Man !🌹
Spot on
Only 8000 views? How has this band become so forgotten over time
now it's a lot more than that.
❤
all these scars are mine.
:-( Too true
Awesome
Have to put it out there, OMG when was the last time you saw a group of men in a band all just so gergous, yeah 80s girl ❤️💋 and they still cute to this present day
I hear U2 here. Great song.
Kicks arse and then some
🔥❤
Relax con la Sua Voce, 🎤👻.
In 1993 I was all over the shop. I just left school and was deep into drugs and fucked up toxic relationships. The lines "All these scars are mine" and "I was thinking. I was feeling. The gift you gave was gonna last forever." gave me a sort of awakening I really didn't acknowledge until later but did set a course for a more positive direction in my life. If those lines meant something to you - especially the scars line - then you'll know what I'm saying. Lessons learned. Accept and move on.
Thank you, Michael.
Amazing what music can do...
How are you now Bones? I hope ok! :)
BonesTheCat wow never thought of it like that. Sad story of yours but amazing how this song helped you stay strong buddy xxx
I was addicted to this song at that time. When MTV was about MUSIC...
he was made for MTV, a pity that MTV changed over the years
I'm pretty sure this video was banned from MTV because it features clips from The Holocaust and Gulf War.
Exactly 🎉 same
Underrated song from a very underrated album. One of the greatest
That "mystify" doc has turned me onto INXS - a band I used to dismiss back in the day..How wrong and snobbish I was.
Glad to hear of a new fan friend
I saw them play ten times from a boy in 1988 onward. We really had a true rockstar with MH, worth getting Welcome to wherever you are. Best album
you see: it's never too late to learn from mistakes😊
I miss this music video in the early 90s. R.I.P. Michael Hutchence (January 22, 1960 - November 22, 1997) I miss him as an artist a lot!
Same :'(
Me too! I mis the INXS, real feelings, real social, political sensibility, high quality of their music, and Hutchence.... :(
I was in the studio next door when they were making this video at Alexandria in Sydney, i was cooking the chicken for a KFC commercial, as a 16 year old, in the studio next door. We got invited in to see Micheal Hutchence getting make-up and filming the face-removing scenes. He just looked at me as they put make-up on his face. Wow, i could hardly beleive my luck to get so close!! Deni Hines was there too, she said hello.
Cool!
Well, good for u. I met him in early 1990, coming out of the Connaught building in Liverpool St across from Hyde Park. Stopped for around 7-10 mins for a chat as he was on his way to visit a friend in the adjacent Elizabeth St.
You would had probably been there too when Deni Hines (as u mentioned that u had saw her and she had a chat), while she was first dating / engaged to Kirk Pengilly in the band, at the time. Kirk Pengilly is now married to Layne Beachley (7 x World Championship Women's surfer). Since 2010 they've been married.
This should be compulsory art and English education. The weight behind the images, the power of the individual amongst the masses, the importance of standing up for what's right. Plus it's an amazing track, still, so many years on.
amazing track & video production for the time, made by people with real talent
You are still a gift for us. Michael Hutchence, THE BEST FOREVER!!!!
Hugely underrated record, just amazing, it HAS to be played LOUD. My favourite INXS track and there are plenty to choose from.
Why'd u go Michael? Such a loss, Sydney needed you and so did the world. Your music touched us and it was amazing
This song is "A Gift" in itself.
They don't make them like Michael anymore :(
SO true, the Gift you gave is gonna last forever....I deeply miss the music and lyrics from the incredibly gifted INXS....but the dazzling charisma, sensual attraction and the phenomenal voice Michael gave will be forever loved, forever missed.....
The compressed bass sound in this song is just sick. So good.
Totally agree; makes the song...
Настоящее и уникальное по профессионализму музыкальное творчество. Очень люблю и ценю INXS как нечто дорогое .Жаль невозможно нырнуть в прошлое и попасть на какой-нибудь из их концертов.
Michael it was a true musical gift for humanity.
Probably my favourite video of theirs and one my favourite songs (of any band), and I’m a mega INXS fan…very prescient video in October 2023
Jesus this man was not on perfection when it came to music, he was beautiful!!
I was at Narara '83 and I was right at the front of the stage. INXS came on and as they began with this song I touched Michael Hutchinson's foot, I was 14 years old. Great memories 😅🎉❤
I guess you mean 1993
Michael Hutchence- One of the sexiest rock Gods ever! This song rocks!!!
very undervalued album, just astonishing, it has to be performed powerfully. my best-loved inxs album and there are numerous of them to select from
I’m very old skool when it comes to INXS. My favourites are The Swing and Underneath the Colours but I love every album so much.
Our Aussie talent is unbelievably good, the sound so unique and deep
Aussie talent *was* good - that seems to have been lost. In the 80s and 90s, Australia was producing unbelievably good rock music (Icehouse, INXS, Noiseworks, Midnight Oil, AC/DC... the list goes on and on and on.)
@@AchtungBaby77 no way we still got amazing artists screaming jets still recorde and tour and Dave also fronts for "the angel" both still blow roofs off, Gleeson is absolute dude and just has a ball and ya see how relaxed and enjoyable his preforming is now. Gone the days of the boozed up rock stars like Jimmy Barnes and Dave in the day, but Barnes way a different level of drinking catho hill pub was crazy show I seen him do two bottles of vodka on stage god know what drank before it. After sing he was so passed he decided to climb bus he end up falling off into shrubs on the cliff face luck he didn't die then. Daniel John's is back sounds good and looks good again. New album and few years ago he done two amazing songs with rapper 360 "purple waterfall". And John butler still going hard as ever. Parkway drive, birds of Tokyo, Jett, sticky fingers, tash sultanor she amazing she a one chick band fuck she can play guitar. There is soooo many good artists. But young people to day like the 3chored mass produced nonsense on top 40. And anyone out of Australia don't understand the Aussie struggles and way we come together when shit hits the fan. Americans think coz there racists and spiteful and care for money not its people, apparently we are also just like them. And we are nothing like them not say racists shit don't happen coz it dose, but there ignorance and values are very few and far. Americans view and backwards thinking is spilling into young Aussies my kids age 10 to 16 year olds watching all these American shows and social media. Coronal riots was a bad time for Aussie's, Americans made Lebanese and Muslims people into the backpack goes boom boom terrorist there not. But young Aussie man eat the information with no question. Now add 45 degree heat and beers on the beach. And shit was just bubbling under the surface. And all it took was the Arabia guy to bash a young life guard, that was it fuses was lit and there was no turning back. Text messages was instantly gone out and this was before social media color screen still weren't out yet. It said ozzie ozzie grab ya booze get on the train and let's take back our beach if ya won't fight stay home. I was working in St Mary's scaffolding when the text hit and so did all my scaffolders 50000 plus turn up it was crazy the poor Muslims didn't deserve any of the racists hatred Americans bestowed on them. There's still a bit of a stain with Lebanese and Aussie's, American done to the Muslims what Americans done to the black people in there country, we just didn't make people slaves
"The Gift you gave is gonna last forever" : if there was ever a more relevant song for the times we live in today eh?.
I related this line to a different meaning... to a relationship that could not last forever.
How many times can I like one video......has to be one of the most powerful experiences of my life, knowing how he sang with feeling, with soul, with himself...
Never seen this before. 'Pleaae play loud' at the very start got me....i spilt my coffee down my shirt. Freaked me out that did😁
Awesome video, great song. Forget Kick....THIS is when the boys were at the top of their game.
Thank you Michael. You are the best.
a GREAT SINGER COULD DIE BUT HIS GREAT MUSIC WILL BE ALWAYS ALIVE!!!
Song and video kick all kinds of asses with unmitigated power
Love this fucken song
On of the best singers ever. period
agree
My no. 1 band, has been, is, and will be.
Grupa o!! Y cancionaza😢
the more time has passed the more I can't come to terms with His untimely death ....
the best song ever!!! great video too. best when turned up so loud people can hear it from a kilometre away!!!!!!!
A seriously awesome INXS song. Would have loved to see this in front of a Wembley audience
One of our own..Michael Hutchence.
yeh mad song these guys rocked
A SUPERB song...lyrically a Masterpiece. Another proof of their just phenomenal lyrics aswell as stunning performances...." all theese scars are mine " grabbed my heart and soul in a second, all of us are our own worst enemies sometimes....Michael Hutchence´s emotional and powerful voice made the " frame " of our lives complete !!
This is one of the best INXS songs IMHO. The video is awesome too
Such a significant loss even after so many year! but I think JD Fortune was excellent and their album 'Switch' was one of the best IMO, if you've never listened to it, DO IT NOW! It really won't dissapoint!
You were The Gift, Michael.
Still great💗👍 Still miss him😞
This song Rocks!! Such power.
RIP Micheal died this day in 1997 😢
superb...
A song for the apocalypse.
I remember when the iron curtian has fallen, and suddenly I saw that clip. It was "too much" for me (i was 10-12 yo) but later i thought it was good song and clip!
I love the bit on this video where they switch faces, its like a scene from a Hollywood hit movie, !! Awesomely brilliant! No other band has copied it as far as I know? Inxs are the only beautiful band of men who can get away with it?! Xxx
think it got to no.11 in the charts wtf 😣
La forte presenza conta moltissimo.
very good track. I'd boost the snare up from that everlasting rimshot, because of which the mix lacks dynamism
Timeless.
For me this is the pinnacle of Inxs not need you tonight , not new sensation etc ( love those tunes of course )
Think this was just before everything derailed tragically.
They sound massive here .
Never quite understood why they declined commercially
My favourite tunes are The Gift , Strange Desire and Searching.
Such a shame those final years were so chaotic and painful, read a lot too about hutchence feeling irrelevant.
It really annoys me about that twat Noel Gallagher comments at the Brits .
I miss hutchence and the band daily😭
"The Gift"
Oh, so fine
We were trying
Out of nowhere
Just in time
Let you take me
Deep down the river
Kiss the changes
That shape my life
Always
Left behind
All the tracks that
I could find
Do do do do do
All these scars are mine
I was thinking got the feeling
The gift you gave
Is gonna last forever
All the lies you find
All the truth you see
Rise and fall
But I know what's mine
Here we lie
Looking up to
Empty sky
And the promises we find
I'm not the first one
To ask why
Yeah, yeah
Do do do do do
Do do do do do
All we ever try
I was thinking
Got the feeling
The gift you gave
Is gonna last forever
I was thinking
Got the feeling
The gift you gave
Is gonna last forever
Do do do do do
Do do do do do
All these scars are mine
Do do do do do
Do do do do do
All these scars are mine
I was thinking
Got the feeling
The gift you gave
Is gonna last forever
All the lies you find
All the truth you see
Rise and fall
But I know what's mine
I was thinking
Got the feeling
The gift you gave
Is gonna last forever
All the lies you find
All the truth you see
Rise and fall
But I know what's mine
I had been looking for this song for ages. I am well made up i found it again after so many years. I first heard it back in 1994, loved the lyrics and everything that went with it, ( Proper good song ).
Michael hutchence was a babe. R. I. P. Handsome xx
Rock God.
I’be forgotten how good this song is! 😻😎
How much I miss him.
This was one of those songs I initially dismissed when I first heard it but it grew to be one of my favourite INXS songs. Kind of like U2 when they did Zooropa it was so left of centre.
Michael is the gift he was so good he didn't have much time
Left sad as😭🤢
+ I remember when it came to mtv. considered too controversial a vid and edited as far as I know
80's and 90's answer to Jim Morrison x
This song never fails and for me its their best song ever. There is nothing better than driving along a motorway in my Valiant with this song blaring through the stereo.
Oath windows up song pumped knocked back to 2nd flat line till 6th down the highway. Great to skate to as well especially down newy beach ya pack the car right a the skate park the a quick surf to drive home
For me it kind of reminds me of old skool first album era inxs. And I love it.
This is my favourite INXS song, love it
This is such an underrated song.
Totally agree, top tune & video to match, only few have the Gift !
This version is diffirent than that which is in album :)
Both versions are great !
Such an underrated song.
Just about sums up my existence, full of masks and deep intentions.
Sad anniversary
25 years without you... Lies.. Truth..
But I know what's mine
Timeless masterpiece💗
I love this song and they say INXS wasn't cool anymore. Bullshit
1st time I've seen this in its entirety. And it is BRILLIANT. A big shame Michael is no longer with us as INXS would have been as big as the Stones had he lived.
Sorry but could Kirk imitate Michael even more.
Saw it at Wembley, in pretty much everything.
And now that guy is selling his wine all in the name off???
Michael you are remain unique. We love you. You’re deeply missed ♥️🕊♥️🕊🖤🤍🖤❤️🩹
Great song
My all time fave INXS song. Top notch!
Their music was incredible and I love this song amongst many others...
Sublime...RIP Hutch
I love this song
