    mj is and was the greatest because not only what he did in the games but what he brought to the team. a sense of leadership and will power. he played through 100 plus fever and has one of his best games, that is amazing. the shots he took and the strength that he had was amazing.he mastered the game and the techniques of the game and excelled at all parts not just scoring kobe and what he does is amazing in his own right and they deserve to be seen as two individual players and not compared

    It wasn't just the incredible offensive skills. Not just the defensive dominance. It wasn't all about the awesome arial acrobatics. It wasn't even about all the rings, championships and Gold medals; but the passion, the excitement, the leadership aibility, the aura about him that was so palpable it made everyone around him better. Its what he did for his team and the game. Michael Jordon: head and shoulders above ANYONE in the NBA before or since, truly the G.O.A.T - the Greatest Of All Times!

    the fact mj is the greatest of all time is well known for many reasons: 5 mvps,all defense team 9 times ,6 nba championships, went into Boston Garden and scored over 60 points against one of the 80's best teams, scored 38 in the finals with the flu and led his team to victory, took a year and a half off the game and what did he do? simply dominated as always, he also returned to the game as an old man and averaged 20 a game. this video alone is enough proof of his greatness.

    He showed the mentality of what it takes to become the greatest.
    How many times have we heard the same BS from every person inducted to the HOF? Did we really expect the greatest to ever play to be a regular speech? He didn't need to talk about his life or anything, he chose to do an inspirational speech in which he used examples from his life to strengthen its impact on the common viewer. His speech was better then any sports speech I've ever heard, and was a fitting end to a wonderful career.

    The problem with the kobe fanboys is that they think because you are the best player in the NBA right now, then you must be the greatest of all time. Michael Jordan is considered by players before his era, during his era, and after his era, to be the Best of ALL TIME. Kobe Byrant is just the current superstar. Who by the way....led his team to a 40 point loss in game six in the NBA FINALS...just wanted to mention that.

  • @uclabro727

  • @Cruzito420

    Michael Jordan is The greatest player off all time. Nowadays the word "greatest" is given to so many players...kobe, lebron, wade...etc. it doesn't even have anymore meaning to it.

  • @serafar
    @serafar 15 лет назад

    So u see it is in the mind, the psychology of Jordan's mind was the key factor for his greatness as 4 his fitness and physical boundaries well we all know who reinvented the jump shot while so always outleveteting his opponent and never missed on key shots...

  • @jkoruty
    @jkoruty 14 лет назад

    There is NO different era here. Michael is regarded as the greatest of all time. Everybody else, take a seat in the back. It's as simple as that. There is Muhammad Ali and then there is Roy Jones and Tyson. There is Michael Jordan and then there is Kobe and Lebron. Greatest means exactly that.

  • @truchampz
    @truchampz 16 лет назад

    I agree. It's impossible to prove who's better because they played in different eras. I personally like MJ, but they are both great players. Just let MJ be MJ and let Kobe be Kobe. Everytime somebody good comes out, they start the "is he the next Jordan." There will never be another MJ. There will never be another Kobe, never be another Dr. J, etc. Stop the comparisons.

  • @mehmeh8
    @mehmeh8 16 лет назад

    I dont see why people say that MJ is not the greatest when the people who really know about basketball like magic johnson and other NBA players know that he is. Im pretty sure they know more about basketball than most the people saying otherwise on youtube.

    and instead of comparting the two why can't we appreciate true greatness from the both of them....michael made the game it was
    Kobes is doing trying to do the same
    theres nothing wrong in that its just like in life everyone wants to make a name for themselves"

  • @bwink23
    @bwink23 16 лет назад

    i hate it when idiots claim the media is what made him great. That is a crock of shit. Nobody got as big as michael cuz he was by far the most exciting player in basketball. Bird and Magic had their chance to sell shoes, but everyone wanting to fly like michael. His popularity was a direct result of his talent. I never cared to watch commercials, but i didn't miss a Bulls game for anything. His style and flare was unique, there will never be another like him.

  • @torchlola
    @torchlola 14 лет назад

    Jordan is the best hands down.We missed at least 4 or 5 prime years from this guy.He retired 2 times top of his game.Now think if did not do that and kept going full speed wow at least 2 or 3 more titles easy and he is still the best all time.Also the players were better back 80s and 90s he played every known player from drj to bird and magic to barkley kobe list goes on.He was fun to watch.

    for sure he would had... most people don't remember that there would had been 8 titles or how many could he won if he didn't retire in 99?
    Jordan still gives me chills with his performances, the only person close to that is Kobe.

  • @garubek
    @garubek 14 лет назад

    @garubek Whoops, I meant the '97 championship, not '96. Although a huge portion of the '96 championship goes to Rodman, who tied the record for "offensive rebounds in a Finals game" twice. The guy averaged 14.7 rebounds per game. I'd say that was important, with MJ only shooting 41% for the series.

  • @Donpaeng
    @Donpaeng 15 лет назад

    Great job i like ur approach and how u respect players and ages for what they are. U want KB to be the greatest ever and there's nothing wrong about it. But u also know u can only consider that once he finishes his career. That's respect and u deserve respect for that.
    Now just between u and me that 24 second clock in the end wasnt casual was it? It was a reference to Kobe confess man :P Keep it up man.

  • @CJSLICK101
    @CJSLICK101 16 лет назад

    he averaged thirty five in the late 80's with a bad team so he basically won the MVP every year including the scoring title !!! Jordan had an amazing year that year but let's face it, there was no competition like a Lebron,Garnett or CP3 back then.....so in these days as long as you can get those awards no matter what point of your career, it's impressive

    @icyneck3000 The one thing that can't go unstated is how great Pippen was. Here's a quote from Tex Winter: "Michael realized how easy it was to play with him and how he helped make his teammates better. It's often said Jordan needed Pippen and Pippen needed Jordan. I'm not sure Jordan didn't need Pippen more than Pippen needed Jordan." The asst. coach even implies that Pippen would do better alone than MJ would.

  • @mjordanisnumber1
    @mjordanisnumber1 15 лет назад

    Jordan lead the league in stls 3 times, most of any player, had 200 stls 100 blks TWICE! DPY over olajuwon. He did the grity work, and was a defensive stopper back then.
    But as he got new teamates, he didn't need to put up as much to win games. Instead, he was mainly used as an offensive weapon. This is happening to Kobe, except he hasn't had any defensive awards besides the defensive teams, and isn't a lockdown defender.

  • @mjordanisnumber1
    @mjordanisnumber1 15 лет назад

    You don't understand. His speech was not aimed at the audience, himself, or any other former NBA players, etc. It was aimed at the common man. He was trying to inspire people by what made him the greatest in his own field. He was telling about what had happened to him, and how that motivated him to become better. Those are life lessons that we see in practice all the time in sports. MJ was using them in real life context. I'm sorry you couldn't see the genius behind his speech. It was all MJ.

  • @mjordanisnumber1
    @mjordanisnumber1 15 лет назад

    You're exactly right man. I love kobe too, but I hate his ignorant fans!!!! You obviously are a real fan of the game.

  • @Amir883
    @Amir883 16 лет назад

    In the end George Karl said it best and I'd like to elaborate on it. It's not Jordan's Jump shot. It's not his Defense. It's not his Passing, his dunking, his leadership or athleticism. It's his heart. His Will to win. It's what drove him to be the best player he could be. It's what drove him through the insanity that was the Bulls climb in the NBA from 1987-1990. You forget what amazing years Jordan had individually and how hard it was to beat the teams in his division no less.

    jordan is the best player who has ever played the game. dont get me wrong, kobe is a good player, its just that jordan has accomplished so much more, which makes him the top dawg. what makes jordan a better player is that he can play both sides of the ball. Best player ever!

    Great vid. Only one MJ ever.

  • @garubek
    @garubek 14 лет назад

    @icyneck3000 Also, one note of context: Jordan had the luxury of playing with the same guys for each 3-peat. Out of every major player MJ played with, Kukoc and Longley each missed 3 playoff games (diff. years). Kobe had Bynum absent one year and half effective another, and a rotation of Radmanovic, Ariza, and Artest. Not only do Kobe's teammates not measure up to MJs, but who he was playing with wasn't even consistent. Pippen, Rodman, Grant, Kerr, Armstrong, Harper, NEVER missed a playoff game.

    It's funny how every Jordan clip on youtube have people comparing Jordan stats to kobe's and referencing all the their stats... It's no contest. I don't know why people bother comparing. Jordan=G.O.A.T! By the way, I love the Transformers score selection for this clip. Good job!

  • @garubek
    @garubek 14 лет назад

    @icyneck3000 Because of the team he played with, MJ was allowed to do whatever he wanted, statistically speaking. No one complained about "touches" or how many shots he took. He got to do what he wanted. And while he was the top dog, Phil Jackson said Pippen's leadership was "equally as dominant". Of course you can be the "greatest" alpha dog, when you have the greatest #2 in history (in the true sense of the word). Pippen led, without challenging (a la Shaq and Kobe).

  • @garubek
    @garubek 14 лет назад

    @hyedgha15 Correction, in his book, Simmons didn't say '94-'04 was defense. He says that '94-'98 (three of MJs titles) was the weakest stretch of talent in the league since the merger, and that it was '99-'04 that was the "deadly slow-it-down, grind-it-out, defense beats offense era".

  • @garubek
    @garubek 14 лет назад

    Even if the NBA folded, that doesn't mean professional basketball disappears. The ABA lasted for years. So maybe today we're watching the professional basketball league called the "ABA" instead of the "NBA". That doesn't mean Jordan and Kobe don't come along.

  • @lupinyonsei
    @lupinyonsei 15 лет назад

    no one will ever be greater than michael. He is a legend, just like how Pele (from soccer) is. Of course Ronaldhino/Messi is better than Pele, but Pele will be the all time god. I have no doubt that Kobe is a beast, but MJ will always be remebered as the first guy who really stepped the game of basketball up. I think its because of Michael that we have kobe and all the other basketball players.

    Jordan is and always will be the best, Kobe only had 3 seasons where he averaged 30+ points,Jordan had 8 seasons, Kobe never won defensive player of the year, and in the finals Jordan is 6-0 with a 33.6 finals average and kobe is 5-2 averaging 25.6,Jordan won 3 titles retired on top and came back after almost 2 years and won 3 more titles, Jordans overall presence is just unmatch and reguardless of how amazing Kobe is it wasnt enough to keep NBC from selling the NBA to ABC due to the lowratings

  • @garubek
    @garubek 14 лет назад

    @pheeeel17 You're right. My original calculation was "shots taken". I forgot to account for the difference in games played. Regardless, I still don't think 1.7 ppg is significant. Yes it's hypothetical, but I think it's pretty accurate. We didn't project stats from a 1 or 2 year career of what could've been. Our sample size is almost 1,000 games and over 20,000 shots. All I'm trying to point out to people is that the gap in scoring isn't strictly FG%. It also is the amount of shots taken.

    And Finally, it's not Jordan Bias, or Kobe hate. It's just looking at the numbers and the end results. Don't get me wrong, I WANT there to be someone better than Jordan. I want there to be someone who truly dominates the game. Someone who's heart alone wins games, and who's desire to win during the playoffs shows through in full force. I want there to be someone better. Because to think that the best is behind us, is disconcerting. As an NBA FanI hope I'm not too old when that happens.
