  • This is my sweet 1975 Volvo with Swedish army nickname "TGB 11" also known as Volvo C303.
    Spareparts C303: www.tatanka.nu/
    Forum C303: www.terrangbil.net
    Short fact about this version C303:
    Ground clearence 380 mm to the lowest point (diff) with 280/85/16" tires.
    Portal axles
    Locking diffs front and back
    Rear-wheel-drive / four wheel drive
    Payload: 900 kg
    Weight: fully loaded 3300 kg
    Length :4350 mm
    Height: 2270 mm
    Fuel consumption: 20-30 l / 100 km
    Fuel capacity: 80 liters
    Range: 300-400 km
    Wheel base 2300 mm
    Driver + 6 passengers
    Since I was a young army soldier in the 1990:s the dream of having a TGB never died. This is my second TGB 11 and its been great fun both offroading, camping, hunting and city driving. Any boring task is fun when driving a TGB :-)
    This version is the most common one, its a light troop transport truck with 7 seats and 900 kg payload. Standard tire size is 280/85/16.
    It has Vovo B30 pushrod engine which is an inline 6-cylinder with 3000 cc volume. It´s a carburettor engine with double Zenith Stromberg, 4speed manual gearbox and a secondary gearbox with high and low gear.
    When driving in "road mode" standard is rear wheel drive with "on the fly" front wheel engagement. Vaacum operated locking differentials front and back combined with portal axles give a great offroad performance.
    Most of the appr. 9000 produced in the 1970:s and early 1980:s were sold to the swedish army/airforce but also to civilian phone and electrical companys and the firedepartment. A few of them were special made for the Malaysian Police.
    There are 4x4 and 6x6 version with lots of different applications. Most of them have an identical drivers cab but different payload and configurations behind the driver. The army/airforce versions were/are used mainly as ambulances, radiovehicle, troop transport and firetrucks.
    The most rare version is the "tank-buster" known as the "1111" which has a special chassi made by Hagglunds with a rocket launcher by Bofors. It has a soft top wich and a hudraulic operated rocket launcher.
    A few ot the TGB-11/13/20 family vehicle remain in active service still 2018 but they are being replaced with tracked vehicles and Sprinters and G-wagens. A few may still be found in the baltic countries due to a transfer of military equpment in the 1990:s.

    Very pragmatic setup. Have got now a Radiobil which I´m going to convert in to the hunting car. Unfortunately not an Al/Zn however in mint condition. Have you got an electronic ignition?

    • @NilssonJohannes
      @NilssonJohannes  4 года назад

      Hi! Nice with a radioversion! I still have standard ignition, but replaced most of the stuff. It works fine but I know a few that use 123-ignition and some day I Will buy that.
      Where do you live?

    • @zeraldasriese
      @zeraldasriese 4 года назад +1

      I live and hunt in the northern Germany. Seaside town Cuxhaven. One german company converts the original ignition in to the electronic one which is much more water resistant then 1-2-3. Will go for it.

    How big is the area behind the front seats? Is it long enough that you could put a bed inside (feet toward the front seats and head towards the back doors)? I'm 6'/183cm.

    • @NilssonJohannes
      @NilssonJohannes  11 месяцев назад

      Well. If you sleep diagonally it works. The ”back Seat” area is around 150 cm. 2:46
      To make a real bed you need to use some space in the trunk area.

    • @truhartwood3170
      @truhartwood3170 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@NilssonJohannes Yes, I was thinking with the back seats removed entirely (not just folded down) so that it's one big, empty, stripped out space behind the front seats like a cargo van. Basically I was wondering if it's possible to camperize it. A bench seat with storage under it on the driver side that would make the rear passenger door on that side unuseable, then on the passenger side, a counter/desk/table (not blocking that rear passenger door) with a small sink and stove that can be covered. And if you lower the table/desk/counter to the same height as the bench, you can then put cushions on top and make it a bed with your head at the rear doors and your feet toward the front seats. Would that work? I assume when you say the rear area is 150cm that's the width? I'm curious what the interior length is from the doors to the back of the front seating area and if that's long enough to stretch out.

      Yes, this is possible, there is enough space. I can measure later today. 😀

      @@NilssonJohannescool, that would be awesome! This looks like the perfect vehicle for getting out to the middle of nowhere and being a base camp to come back to between hiking, biking, kayaking. Go out for a week, come back, shower, wash clothes, restock food, water, fuel, replace or fix broken equipment, then head out for another week, repeat.

    Hej Johannes!
    Jag har alltid gillat dessa "större valparn" också och därför hållt koll på den genom åren. Men, har dålig koll på vad de kostar numera. Har du en bra prisbild på dem? Kan man fortfarande köpa dem från militärens överskott.?

    • @NilssonJohannes
      @NilssonJohannes  6 лет назад +1

      Hej! Jo det finns nästan alltid ett gäng på blocket mellan 50 k kr och 100 k kr.
      Sök på Tgb på ”bilar” så hittar du nog ett gäng, ibland även auktioner från kviberg.
