imo the biggest gripe for me with the normal staff is it's speed now. Sabers like form V normal saber/crossguard/blacksaber and backhand can outspeed staff pretty easily. The thing with dual staff is it's animation is so confusing trying to outspeed is very difficult, even impossible against people who are very good at using dual staff despite the relatively lower attack speed
Although the speed is now very slow compared to how it use to be the weapon is still good speed shouldn’t matter as much as damage and defense that’s why there is a smack mechanic the faster the lower dmg staff is a very good saber and if not the best in game with its smooth m1 speed and range but again pick what weapon is best for you
