I used to have this when I was younger when it came out and its 2019 now and I want it again! I don't know beta it is but I was in love with it and I still am! I would love to have it again !

this isnt used for gaming etc. its meant for school work or on the go. we use the 11.6 ones at my school
Guys please calm the fuck down. Chromebooks are not used for gaming, you use it for studying using office stuff like word/document/power point, it's mainly for school or work.
It's also portable you can bring it to school or library.
or run Linux on it

What really amazes me about these things and technology in general is the fact that you can now edit short videos ONLINE! That's amazing!
I have a Gaming PC and i bought this to just have a browser so i dont need to use my Ram or quit the game to check a video or a site. :) Maybe not the best, but for me its enough. I also take this one to school for browsing.

I just got mine today and I love it so far! These Chromebooks are pretty much fully functional laptops at only $275. I've been typing papers, listening to music, viewing photos, reading ebooks, surfing the net, watching videos. This thing pretty much does everything a normal laptop does.
I'm willing to answer any questions regarding this Chromebook.
Hey Mike: I love your reviews but what I think is missing is RATING 1 - 5. 1 being "poor" 5 being "worth buying". I suggest this because you have a comprehensive grasp of most electronic goods and it may help others in their purchases. Just a suggestion.
I need one of these. They look amazing. Seeing these on commercials really have gotten me into this.
I'm so excited on September 20 cuz my school is getting these for every student so I get to use it and take it home :3 high tech schools rock!!

Chromebooks aren't good. In my school each student is getting a Lenovo laptop.
Chromebooks suck! You can't get on Window things nor download Window things
that is a good thing. you get no viruses, fast boot up times and google docs free for life

Very pretty chromebook... But the lack of an SD slot and HDMI port is kind of disappointing. The Samsung model has a little weaker processor but had both HDMI and micro SD slot and USB 3 port as well and it's 80$ less than HP's model
Over 6 years later the HP Chromebook 11 is still stunning to look at in a sea of faux-metal, plastic clad laptops atypical of the Chromebook brand. It's no Pixelbook Go, but it has it's own flair with the all white body and light strip. It's a shame no manufacturer ever revived this kind of design. It's also a shame that we don't have a perfect Chromebook for the average user, like what this one tried to do. Could you imagine a lecture hall with students hunched over a bit over these petite devices, typing steadily away, an army of white to combat the omnipresent MacBook Air? If only Google could fight off the criticism of their early days of Chrome OS! (Darn, I think I'm a fanboy.)
Can you program (Java or C++) on a Chromebook??
Also, would you reccomend the ASUS C300, HP 14 or this?
This particular Chromebook was on my want list but were delayed for awhile due to manufacturing issues. I ended up getting a 14 inch HP in white, the biggest break is they had a temporary offer of 2 years free cellular data on the thing. So I am using that for my sole internet free! Aside from data plan for my phone. You can't beat that as a deal!

I have the 2017 model one. Great for basic web surfing and typing documents, but that's about it. I had an older HP 15 Windows 10 laptop before it, and now I use an HP 17 with Windows 11.
I’ve just realized how old this laptop is apparently because of how old the video is :(
i've had mine for about a month. my only complaints are with ergonomics: it's hard to open the laptop (no indent to grab) and i feel like i'm scratching the case when plugging it in to charge. otherwise, no complaints so far. i've moved to this after five years on an old macbook.

6 hours is what it says on the website. If you go to the bottom of the website, it'll explain how 6 hours is only an estimate and that actual battery life will vary.

My windows 8.1 computer gives me 2 hours of battery chrome books are away better than windows I want to try chrome os oh wait VMWARE TO THE RESCUE

bro, you can get linux onto it, and if software is a big thing for you, there is a huge library on linux including steam with tf2, gmod etc

MrChiliwin did you even listen. LINUX, LOOK IT UP, THERES STEAM, AND WEBSITES THAT GET YOU PC GAMES, IVE GOT ONE AND THE CAPS LOCK IS BROKEN
What I don't think you get is that you will get shitty fps either way. You have no hope of running any game with half ok fps.

I'm a student whose going to high school soon and I need a laptop but mostly just for typing/writing documents. I really love the look of this laptop and the fact that it's so easy to bring with you to a lot of places. I would like to use this laptop for RUclips and movies and things like that as well. I've been torn between this laptop and the Chromebook 14. Considering all this, which would you recommend?

That was a *complete* mistake to replace the Caps Lock button with a Search button...
Yeah... a lot of people love that but owning a chromebook myself I'm not crazy about it and still find it strange.

Honestly, I'm still not used to pressing Ctrl+F or something to use Caps Lock. Caps Lock is still there, it's just not as accessible...

I disagree, I think the apple products have a great design and it's good to have a cheaper option.
You're right actually in this case it sort of made sense. But what bothers me more is when google/samsung steal some of apple's innovative ideas and make a product that they sell at the same price (e.g. cell phones/tablets)

However apple is able to better than any other tech company in my opinion to find things that were not made very well and creates much better designed and better produced products that are both intuitive to use and work well. They didn't invent the graphical design of computers but if they had not put that into the Macintosh computer would any other company have decided that that would be a good idea? Probably not. So although apple didn't invent everything most of their designs and philosophical ideals are what distinguishes them from other companies and is what allowed them to not only impact but also reinvent major components of the technology industry (as well as a few other ones).

if you mean the online version then yes. if you want a good word processor just use google docs because it is Microsoft word but better and free for life. if you have any questions just ask me please.

you need the acer 15 it is less then 300 dollars and it has 1080p ips display and 4gb of ram 16gb ssd. you should get that

This is actually a non touch screen google’s chromebook unlike chromebook pixel laptops and pixelbook. So there won’t be any support for android apps. Sadly you can only use the online ms word.

it's not really the white keyboards, actually apple's are black, it's the chiclet-key style.

Apparently, HP had to temporarily stop selling this model, due to an overheating power supply. HP now has a redesigned unit that not only charges faster than the old one, it also does not over heat. HP is now selling it with the new PSU and you can contact HP to get the new one.

Google Drive Docs/Sheets/Slides DOES work Offline if you go to Google Drive and configure Offline in the left sidebar. It caches your docs and then starts allowing you to create and edit stuff offline. Calendar also has this setting if you go and click the Gear icon.
Are you still using it? Cans you use zoom on it?
the best chromebook so far. can you provide details on the charging? how long did it take to charge, because that´s a unique innovation i haven´t seen so far with micro usb. and compared to the macbook air - you can buy 5 times the hp chromebook 11 and do the same.

Depends mostly on the design and the screen, but If you spent a little more money ($300), you can get a Dell Inspiron 15 that has so much more functionality.
I own this machine and apart from the speed, it's great. Needed a faster processor and perhaps more RAM.
For Microsoft stuff you just use Google Docs instead, which can open word documents and format the files you make into word documents. As for iTunes, I don't think so, but I'm not completely sure so feel free to correct me.
So you can/can't use Microsoft Word offline? I have my eye on this because I don't want to have to bring my laptop to school but if it can't use word without wifi, then I really don't see the significance of it.
Guys the chromebooks are good for living in the cloud and web based tasks. If you are not running any heavy programs, if you can get your work done in the cloud and be able to live there, then this is a great option to consider. If not, then turn your attention somewhere else. These are great machines for what they are made for. If you are student, or if you just want something to surf the web while laying in bed and don't want a heavy hot laptop that takes forever to boot and slows down.

If no fans are being used, is there a heat sink system implemented? I know this isn't as complex as a standard laptop, but the heat has to go somewhere.
