- A game's theme is vital to its success, which is why it's so funny when they straight up botch it this bad.

Strip The Campaign For North Africa is just FATAL: The Board Game Adaptation.
Imagine rolling for potential pasta circumference
Nah, at least CfNA’s systems actually like… interact with each other and mean something to use.
unlike FATAL, TCFNA has more than one playable team
I wonder what the FATAL equivalent to CFNA’s air combat is
NOT FATAL LMAOOOO
Strip Campaign for North Africa: the game for all ages, since by the time anyone is required to take their clothes off they'll all be well into retirement.
"All ages"
Yeah nice try Epstein
And also probably skeletonized after removing their clothes, skin, undergarments, sinew, glasses, and internal organs
It’s more like slow burn for North Africa
Holy shit it's board game Scott The Woz
fr
You should've seen him when he was board game Sam O'Nella
Reminds me more of Huggbees than Scott The Woz
Wench! is basically just a card game version of The Guy Game (only, at least the former doesn't have anyone underage in it, I hope)
That's what I thought too lol
Competitive Strip-tac-toe tournament struck with tragedy as player dies of heatstroke under 37 layers if clothes
Lol
Lmao
Roflmfao
Give Diplomat some credit: They released two of their sex-themed games in the best year possible: '69.
It certainly helps how that was a key year in the free love movement.
Nice.
niiiiiiice.
I would unironically play a Coupe game set in an HOA. That sounds so goofy
I block your foreclosure with my Contessa.
I would ironically play it
I’m sure there’s a HOA that hired an assassin at some point
isn't that the plot of Hot Fuzz?
I feel like that would take off as a parody version of Coupe once people already know of the game's reputation. Like licensed Clue or Monopoly
In Strip The Campaign For North Africa, Italian players have to strip twice on upkeep due to the infamous pasta rule.
Those Diplomat board games were 100% made to be sold in sleazy sex shops to people too horny to apply some forethought. They'll see the cover, quickly browse over the box, briefly think to themselves "Hey, that sounds like a fun time!" without any further consideration, slap some bucks on the table, and by the time they've gotten home and cooled off they will realize it's stupid and predicates on situations that basically no one would subscribe to. By then, Diplomat would have made off with their money.
Or at least, that's the idea. I get the feeling that, in the end, cooler heads prevailed and these games saw next to no success other than maybe as novelties or gag gifts. Which is probably why you can't find anything about them online. That, and nearly 60 years having passed since its release.
Just like 99% of things in those places. The only thing that is generally useful at all times you can’t find anywhere else cheaper is probably dental dams (unless CVS has them), and even then good luck finding those.
You buy a movie, then realize the internet exists.
You buy a sausage storage device, then realize it’s made of materials that aren’t made for reuse at all.
You buy a big honking doll, and then realize it cost more than your rent and that there’s no way to get rid of it that doesn’t look like murder
Post-nut clarity
"What shall I be" was released in 1966. By which time women had gone to space, become flying aces, taught at aviation academies, with every rational expectation that by the time the target age demographic grows up around the late 70s, things were going to change even more... But yes, "airline hostess"
Now, to be fair, the US was not really leading the charge on female career options in the 1960s. That being said, that was rapidly changing and the people who developed this game should definitely have seen that happening.
Teachers and Nurses are still the most common female occupations, numbers for airline hostesses are up in the air(hehe). Trying to find numbers for the others on google just gives me articles saying "trans people are breaking the mold" without saying what "the mold" is. I love Google.
If the issue is that it doesn't reflect the lofty goals of kids nowadays, sorry it didn't have youtuber?
'Pretty' and 'overweight' aren't even personality traits, what are they doing in there?
In the US, we wouldn't have a woman astronaut until *1983*, when Sally Ride was on STS-7.
She still beat the first black American astronaut, Guion Bluford, who flew a couple months later on STS-8.
Still, it wouldn't surprise me if those were the actual top 6 most popular career choices for young girls at the time. The makers of the game obviously weren't trying to change society or anything.
When I was a kid, I saw an ad for Doggie Doo on TV and begged my mom for it. She said no and insisted that the doo would get stuck inside the dog. I asked my grandma for the game instead and she brought it over while babysitting me. First play-through, the doo got stuck. When my mom got home, she was _furious._ She had to use a chopstick to fish the doo out of the dog. She then confiscated the game.
Real "you'll shoot your eye out" moment
You deserved to go through that for thinking the game looked appealing tbh
Full marks for the "Yu-Gi-Ho" joke.
These games range from 'oopsies' to 'how far can we go before we get in legal trouble'.
7 minutes in heaven is free. Literally free. Who would spend money on a boardgame.
Before watching all the way through this video I thought you were just calling anyone who likes board games nerds. I think I would like to go back to this time in my life.
@@sarahgent2674 I am sorry
You could also play "spin the bottle" or just, you know, the old car key party thing.
"Pimp: The Backhanding" sounds like a World of Darkness TTRPG
This topic reminds me of the Titanic board game I used to play as a kid, where you raced against your family and friends to make it into the lifeboats before them, leaving them on the sinking ship.
Oof that’s dark
Advertising as a theme works in games about fake products - Jackbox’s Patently Stupid comes to mind. Attaching real and currently running ad campaigns to a board game is just gauche.
These last two videos have made think that a tournament bracket should be done but for worst theme and worst mechanics seperately. So it's fair since comparing a bad mechanic to a bad theme is a lot more subjective.
The winner did have a perfect storm of both though so neither camp can complain too much
@@woodfur00 Yeah but trying to compare war to oy vey is pretty hard
@@tarotsport1451 I dunno I don't get the intense hate for War. There are worse crimes than being boring, just don't play it. Oy Vey is a crime just sitting on the shelf
Putting bill cosby near anyone in power lunch is instantly going to end the board game in a fight
"Pimp: The Backhanding" sounds like a White Wolf World of Darkness title.
I can't understand why anyone would play a strip game by candlelight: you're using a light source that makes it impossible to see anything to play a game where the point is what you end up seeing.
The Diplomat games are crazy to me because they also just dont consider outfit differences at all. Some outfits will total like 3 pieces of clothing at most, and others will have like 8 or more, depending on how players count it
There’s this really weird game me and my friends played last year called “redneck life”, which is basically the game of life if it hated (poor) southerners. The winner at the end is the person with the most teeth left and there’s spaces that give you… babies from hooking up with your cousin. If it’s not already on ur radar i’d love to see a video on it!
I ate the "doggie doo" of the game "doggie doo" one time when I was a kid. Almost died after, but that shit was good
YOU ATE THE DOG SHIT?????
I am scared of you
I would like to ask "what the fuck?" Thank you
Is this how Eve felt after eating the forbidden fruit from the Garden of Eden?
I doubt doogie doo doo is actually toxic... I don't think this story is true
Considering how long a Campaign for North Africa lasts, your version will force multiple people to endure the winter months without heavy clothes on. So, all that is left to say is... welcome to the "Games that can kill people" Club!
"Public Punishment"
Ah, I see what you did there...
Capital Assistance
Oy Vey was aimed at a specific demographic, probably the children of the stereotyped Jewish mother. This kind of thing runs through so much Jewish humor, though not so much today as the family structure has changed. I can imagine my warped sense of humor would love the game. Also, overthrowing a HOA sounds fun.
It's not overthrowing a HOA, it's winning the brutal power struggle of a HOA.
Hey man, I just gotta say your writing on these scripts is incredible. You could describe the contents of my backyard and I would probably be entertained as long as you had enough time to write a script.
To be fair, you do have a very interesting backyard
It's goin good, dudes
It be runnin well lads
The moment we are in is moving well, males
It proceeds well, fellows.
as it proceeds, for how it proceeds, when it proceeds. good.
The situation that I am in is exponentially getting exceedingly great and beneficial, plural slang human male
10:12 Putting aside literally everything else about these cards, can I just say that this is the most 2005 art-style I've ever seen?
Okay that final joke really hit for me because me and my friends have been joking about Campaign for North Africa being the "Perfect Orgy Boardgame" for a few months now
The "do a no-no" card in bumps and grinds is probably a smart reference to ULTRAKILL where a +NO-NO style bonus is awarded for killing an enemy with a chainsaw
OHHHH that clears up so much
So you have to kill one of the players with a chainsaw?
@@aynohalopesdealmeida9932 exactly

0:21 A mystical journey through a living nightmare perfectly describes candy land.
Diplomat presents: Biogenics could just become a game of "make a board game baby, then make one for real"
To be fair, I wouldn’t be surprised if in the 60s models did go to charm school, I think it used to be much more of a thing back then
I can't lie at 4:16 knowing who Oliver North is makes this actually potentially funny
I remember someone from my high school that had a copy of PIMP: The Backhanding.
We were dumb teenagers then, so we never gave the controversy much thought or consideration.
It really is a technically sound game with a controversial theme.
Hammerhead's logo should probably be a guy hammering himself in the head after playing one of their games.
when you said “ad time” i instinctively tried to skip through the video for a solid second
I knew I'd get at least one person
I think power lunch could work with its premise if you just substitute celebrities for 'popular fictional characters' since those tend to age more gracefully. I dunno have disney make it, they own enough of everything to get a varied cast for it.
I totally agree! I think that would be really fun to play.
I mean Adultery sounds like a good game for the worlds most dorky swingers
I am glad Board Game Scott the Woz taught me what not to make. Now time to combine it all. Except the Diplomat ones.
*Especially the Diplomat ones
0:15 WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SHIT THEMED BOARD GAMES
Id assume the logic is toilet humor appeals to most kids very easily?
Well, everybody poops.
"Nobody poops. It's only you. Feel ashamed".
I gotta say, going through your history of videos, it's been really interesting seeing your evolution from depicting yourself as a simple cartoon man, to only having your arms and hands on camera to illustrate a physical board game, to being fully on camera to do more involved bits and jokes alongside your explanations. it feels like you've become a lot more confident with yourself as you make more videos, and I think it just makes each one better than the last. You're doing a great job and I appreciate all the work you put into the channel!
You are aware Charm School was a thing that existed right? You know the stereotype of there being all these extra etiquette rules for rich people like eating with the right silverware, the books on the head thing for posture, sitting properly and all that? Charm school is where they taught those things.
The Pimp game reminds me of the Italian game Squillo. Its essentially the same thing but its longer.
Too long and it also has 2 expansions one that adds gigolos.
*" B R O T H E R . "*
My same thoughts exactly.
Strip For North Africa has a better ring to it and without context sounds like an activism thing
Why did they decide that a candle was integral to the gameplay?!?
The idea of a games company that just exclusively made games for swingers and polyamorists is amazing
Unfortunately none of Diplomat's games seem very mechanically interesting. Maybe fun for the right group, but it you have that group, is the game actually adding anything?
Surprised there was no mention of Brenda Romero’s “Train”. It’s a board game about getting as many passengers on a train as possible, it’s also about the holocaust.
If you ask Oliver North why he was having lunch with Ted Koppel and Helmut Kohl, he'll just say "I don't recall"
Kam was looking up the biggest news stories of 1962 on his phone when he got scared.
Nope, I know all of those by heart ❤️
I can’t believe adultery isn’t LGBT inclusive
It was still considered a mental illness in 1969 USA....if you were LGBT in a 1969 TV or movie you were either a criminal or un-alived yourself "in shame" (w/very rare exceptions mostly in B or "foreign art" movies). But yeah what a lame sex party game, restrictive, uptight & limiting doesn't sound like a sex party to me.
@@u-neekusername4430 I know I was being sarcastic
@@Luigi-Board LOL, well that's embarrassing for me! 🤦🏻♀️
....this is what happens to you when you don't play any proper "party games" for fat too long 😜
@@u-neekusername4430 it’s okay! It happens to us all
Goddamn the end got me. Imagine a 15-year game of stripping. Do you have to stay stripped over those years or do you just have to roll up to your friend’s twice a month and throw off clothes at the door from the previous sessions like “hey guys I don’t remember where we were in this game we’re gonna have to backtrack”
you know what naughty game would sell? stript twister.imagine that
The Career Girl board game is actually pretty cute. Love those old illustrations.
I agree! That retro art style is so charming.
guys i think diplomat may have been an alien social experiment to study human sexuality
Maybe
you are the board game equivalent of scott the woz
You’re like a board game mix of hoodlumsrevenge and hugbees.
The adult themed ones reminds me of that one random giant adult-themed monopoly board found underneath someone's floor.
Charm school sounds some dollar store version of Winx club. " Join our 5 heroine fairies in Charm school!"
I have a lead for you. Toons is a GURPS system RPG where you all becomeblooney toon like characters. It was nitch as heck but still got a couple of expansion books. I think you would find it fascinating. I have the game book if you want pictures of it.
The problem with S#### Tac Toe is that it uses the Tic Tac Toe foundation, Tic Tac Toe is garbage, they should've done Chess instead. Introducing Chexx, it's just like Chess, but with a twist. Everytime you take the opponents piece, the opponent takes removes an article, everytime you check a king, you do something with yourself, you know what, and whenever you get a checkmate, you are the one on top and do the activity with all the remaining articles still on. A perfect game to play with your love one.
you want to be the one who gets the doo in doggie doo? I thought it was you didn't want the doo
Holly shit that last one is actually a guaranteed death sentance unless a player read the rules before hand and showed up in a tshirt and sweatpants and nothing else
I still think the claim of Adultery being a crime game is silly, no one's getting arrested for adultery in 2024 in the US, and some of the states that have laws against it are repealing them (Minnesota and Idaho did in the last couple of years, and New York is in the process of it), and unless you're in a very fundamentalist country I doubt it'll result in much.
But still, it looks like more of a novelty joke or a gag gift than an actual game, for the reasons stated in the video. I guess there might be some people who could be into the strict rules as some sort of kink, but even then there are much better ways to do that lmao
When I saw the games from Diplomat, I immediately thought "Those look like games you'd see on the shelf at Spencer Gifts." I checked Wikipedia, and Spencer Gifts opened their first retail store in 1963.
Just remember there was a 2000's "ghetto monopoly" game called Ghettopoly that got the creator sued by Hasbro, was once sold at Urban Outfitters before being pulled for racism, and apparently made the creator $8.9 million if Wikipedia is correct.
You're telling me a trivia game released in 1962 is out of date? No flippin' way!
Just found this channel yesterday, and have already watched most of the board games videos (still have yet to watch the tournament). Glad to be along for the ride!
Thank you for checking out the stuff!
glad youve been riding the wave of subs from the tournament with so many new videos. it's been very smart on your part and ive really enjoyed the content. keep it up 👍
I can see the 1962 news thing being big with 20th century history buffs
The decision on editing the covers for Public Assistance and Capital Punishment together was brilliant imo
Me with my five shirts, two jackets, three pairs of shorts, two pairs of sweats, 7 hats, 12 total socks, 6 gloves, and 20 watches on: hey let's play strip tac toe
your channel got into my recommended feed a few weeks ago, and i enjoy your stuff IMMENSELY! i’d honestly love to play a game like Power Lunch if you could get a cheat sheet for the celebrities. maybe you could do a game like that but a fantasy setting? and you’d get maybe their title and a short quote from them, and you’d have to make up a story based on that. yes it’s just extended improv storytelling, but if you get the right group of people it could be very fun!
10:13 must say the art style is so 2000s it carries a certain charm.
I love the fcat that you say "ads" as how AVGN says "4ss"
This is your best video yet! I think the glasses and the hat are a cool calling card, and your jokes aren't disruptive to the presentation of content. Keep it up with the new format!
Thank you, glad you like it!
In a boardgame I might be able to answer some questions about the DDR, but from 1962? Not a chance.
I must say, I was not expecting the final board game to be a legitimate fire hazard when I clicked on this video.
I bet the guy who made wench is the same fella who made Princess Leia’s costume
I wasn't a fan of the jokes in your previous vids, but this one's actually decently amusing - good to see you improving!
I think a rerelease of Power Lunch with "timeless" celebrities or notable people like Elvis, Albert Einstein, Shakespeare, etc. would be a really solid party game.
So would Wench be a viable addition to the Uno Amalgam? Even if it's eliminated for being unofficial
If my GOAT Gooey Louie isn't in here I will scream
Awesome video and awesome channel!
oh yes finally new episode from my favorite bad board game guy!
Diplomat games definitely seem like a weird artifact of a certain sort of free love hippy culture of the late 1960s and early 1970s. It definitely gives me the same vibe as a TV show lile "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-in"
imma play go fish with the wench cards
You forgot “Juden rauẞ”, a board game that was OBVIOUSLY created and sold in Nazi Germany, but then the SS was like “ooohhh no no no noooo, you have to leave that shit to UUUSSS!!” And banned the game for “challenging their movement” because of the goal to capture the “Jews” and place them in the various “collection points” until six “Jews” are captured by the first person to do so.
My sister once got Doggie Doo from her wishlist for her birthday or Hanukkah, I forget. We played it just once, and then I used a screwdriver to open the toy dog and see what was inside and how it worked. But then, I couldn’t figure out how to put it back together. So, I took one of the plastic pieces from inside and stimmed with it by chewing on it. And that’s the unhygienic story of how I shamelessly destroyed my sister’s present.
I feel like the base concept of Power Lunch, where a bunch of miscellaneous wacky characters are placed at different tables and players have to come up with fun scenarios for why they’re there, could work well re-skinned with more relevant characters. Not just modern day celebrities and politicians, but maybe even fictional characters.
Imagine a game that’s a hodgepodge crossover of pop culture characters and real word figures and players have to figure out why, I dunno, Princess Celestia from My Little Pony, Jack Skellington form Nightmare Before Christmas, former President Abe Lincoln and Dyneres Targerian from Game of Thrones are sitting at a table together. Kinda like the lesser known card game Slash; Romance Without Boundaries minus the whole shipping fanfic angle.
Alternatively, if you don’t want the logistical headache of licensing issues, you could come up with a wholly original cast of distinctive characters with thier own profiles on each card to pair together on a table. Like, for example a highschool themed game where you have to figure out why some of these original high schooler characters form different cliche high-school cliques like the goths, nerds, preps and jocks etc are sitting together. I’d say there’s potential.
The first games that popped into my mind when i saw this title was The Grape Escape where you go around and squash your opponent's pieces like from a horror movie (I only know this from Nostalgia Critic and one of his Commercials episodes).
Pop The Pig and Doggie Doo.
Okay, that joke at the end got a big belly laugh out of me
What's so bad about ad slogan quizzes? A TV show I watch did it with classic video game slogans.
Your humor is akin to Scott The Woz. You’ve earned a subscribe
Pimp the backhanding is my favorite World of Darkness game
4:18 Oh I know Oliver North! He's a soldier, and a hero, and a novelist, and now he's on fox neeeeeeeews
Hah Years Ago i got some hologram background card Sleeves cheap with that Wench box art on it. They was VHS board games that main goal was to answer questions on TV Ads too it was only way back then to see the ad's if you wasnt lucky to have saved onto a recordable VHS before Internet though. So i bet the tapes was watched more than the game played.
I love the delivery on AHHHDS
