There is different requirements for lube on Orings but mainly if it's keeping oil out go with that if it's keeping hydraulic fluid out go with that if it's water use carbo wax because if it's drinking water it's non toxic.

Good advice. I do a little plumbing when it’s necessary, I have never used oil on any seals when it comes to drinking water. I don’t know if I was clear in the video but I was referring to engines specifically.

No I was just stating that when It comes to Orings the lubricant requirement is different depending on what system it is being used on. In other words doesn't go in dry on any application. The Oring to work correctly needs to swell up.

@@TimsWorkshopTJY ok, I get it. Good information to know. That might explain why the last well pump I installed sprung a leak. Ironically it was an o-ring. I thought at the time that the bolts just weren’t tightened evenly. I was able to fix it but I never thought to use anything on the o-ring as a treatment.

I was trained on hydraulic tubing installations on aircraft. There was a whole section on Oring installation

@@TimsWorkshopTJY I’m an interior Trim carpenter. I have a builder’s license and have used it from time to time. My company name is “QM Custom Carpentry and Construction “ you can look me up on Google. Lots of pictures. I have been wrenching on things my whole life and lately I’ve been really enjoying working on this engine. My Dad built the Rail Buggy that it came out of. He also was the last guy to rebuild this engine. It ran really good and we had lots of fun with it until I lost the air filter and didn’t realize it until it was too late. It was all down hill from there. I did get a couple more seasons out of it but it finally gave up so now it’s my turn to give it a new life. I hope I can make the old man proud. I always take everyone’s opinions and suggestions seriously and I really do appreciate them. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.
