Flies is all you need! Now put that to a Beatles song and that’s all you need! Another terrific vid. Been hiking creeks of Colorado and found some nice trout waiting the pick next weekend. Colors coming on so will be beautiful.
Another great adventure video! Nice fish too … love how you found a spot to enjoy the catch. How cool is it to meet people who have watched your videos! And used them to help plan their own adventure. Wow.
Nice video and nice rainbow trout:) I was wondering if your squeaky reel might be scaring off some of the fish. The sound might transmit down the line. Just a thought. Love the channel!
@@Sheety33 Never done it myself. Google shows they do have reel lubricating oil. A fishing sporting goods store in Lone Pine or Bishop might sell some ... or good ol' Amazon has some:)
Thanks for another great video, Scottie! Very nice fish. I'm newer to fishing the Sierra, but I really think you'd like tenkara (I mentioned it in another video comment). It's so backpacker-friendly too. Maybe we can go out sometime and I'll show you the little I know! lol Otherwise, hope I run into you on the trails one day. One recommendation I have for your kit is a landing net. I picked one up from HandyPak that bends down to be more compact for backpacking. Cheers! And congrats on becoming a dad!
Thank you! I really need to pick up a tenkara rod but haven’t since I like to use spinners, too. Sure let’s do it! Was thinking to maybe set up a YT trailhead hiking meetup in the future!
Going up to the sierra in October. Gonna visit Shadow Lake. Is there parking at Agnew meadow. Do you need a permit to day hike. Looks like about 8 miles. We plan on doing a loop hike. Great video.
Hey Sheety. Love your channel, always really inspiring and beautiful work. Your videos rev me up for hiking on a regular basis. I have a dilemma, and I think you're the perfect person to ask. I'm taking two hiker friends for their first trip to the Eastern Sierra in early October. We're hoping to do at least two day-hikes in the 6 to 12 mile range (along with a few shorter hikes and probably a Yosemite visit). The primary hikes I'm deciding between are Little Lakes Valley, Duck Pass, Shadow Lake (and maybe Ediza), and 20 Lakes Basin. If you had to choose two hikes from those (other suggestions are definitely welcome as well), which would you recommend first? Thanks in advance for any help, and I'll be sure to say hi if I run into you on the trail someday.
Firstly, thank you for your comment and question as I love the interaction and your excitement for hiking! Secondly, good question! Really depends on many things I would say for these hikes, particularly the weather. I’ve said it many times, and have made a couple of videos at the location, but Kearsarge Pass is one of those hikes that ticks all the boxes (for me at least) and I believe it’s only 10 miles round trip. Lakes, vistas, mountain peaks - absolutely stunning and never gets old. Go in the early morning and thank me later 🤠. Another stunner at 16 miles is the thousand island lake loop which I recently did. If you average 2 miles per hour you can complete in 8 hours and there is not much elevation gain. Just made a video on this recently. Hope this helps and thanks for the question!🤙
Hello Scottie. I love your videos: high quality, professionally done. Question please: i notice you use a Sawyer water filter screwed onto the Smart water bottle; great idea; which model of Sawyer water filter is that? (mini or SP2304?). Subscribed. Thank you.
I like the part in your trail guide where it says it's only about a 700 foot elevation gain as you turn off to go up to the lake. That's a nice day hike. Nice catch on the trout... plenty of omega-3.

Absolutely incredible. You just put another hike on my list! Great job.
Another amazing and jam packed trip Scottie - great looking trout! 💯🎣

I’m beginning to wonder now myself! I really need to oil my reel. Is there anything in particular you recommend for lubrication?

Parking at Agnew Meadows if arriving early. Fall is spectacular in the eastern Sierra - enjoy!
Cool of you Scottie to invite fellow hikers into your hi-country adventures. BTW, that was also a nice trout... fun times all around.

Exactly the quote I was thinking when walking through the “doorway”!

Pretty sure rainbow trout is native to that area.
