Great composition, even when your not feeling the top of your game. The angle of the shots at 1:15 to include the multicolored trees was noticed, the fun with Hazel at 12:15 and 13:00 as she played with her stick and the leaf bundle toss, the interaction of Hazel in your lakeside hug shot at 8:36. All gems that make your captures outstanding (in addition to the technical light balance)
I get this haha. We litteraly hike FOR our pup. We love it too...but its for him haha....Gotta make your way to GA for our fall hiking weather! Its the best
Lived in and near Mammoth in the early 90’s. One of my favorite all time hikes is Reds Meadow to Thousand Island Lake. Thank you for taking me back in time. Need to find my negatives from that trip. Tried to duplicate Ansel Adams image of Banner Peak. It snowed overnight which was both beautiful and frightening as I wasn’t prepared. Living vicariously through you 🙏❤️
Gorgeous as always, thanks for creating these beautiful pieces of art each time. Love that you guys found your lane and voice, and not swayed by the ups and downs of RUclips trends. Inspired!
I am a week late catching up on you guys, but as always your videos make me realize the small but important parts of life. Taking pride in a small space we call our homes and realizing how lucky we are to have our partners. Goodonya Cody & Victoria! Much love - Jack
Hands down has to be one of my favorite vlogs 🙌 loved seeing you guys backpacking again 🙌 lol I was laughing so hard when “I’m so tired I don’t think I can put up that tent” that was so me last week 😂 but once you’re out there enjoying the view and the sunrise it’s worth it 🙌 love seeing the new van life journey, hope you’re feeling better Cody , blessings to both of you 🙏
Your guy's videos always seem to show up in my feed just at the right time. Thanks for sharing your journey and reminding us to take the time and #goanddo
I was waiting for this video when I saw your IG post. So glad Hazel got to go out! We wanted to go to Thousand Island next week but the road is closed. Next year it is!
I just got to 1 minute of the video, and feel so pleased with it. Love the flow of your videos and narrating. And the shot at 1:06 is so nice and cinematic, just a usual packing thing, but shot in unusual way. 🤩
I wish I could say that I have a workout routine in the van but currently the only form of exercise I've been getting is rock climbing and hiking. Maybe one day I'll get into a workout routine and if I do, I'll definitely share it on Instagram or something😀 -V
It feels so inspiring watching your videos. Lots of love from India. Also wanted to know how do you add the camera motion when you shoot yourself and victoria from a distance? It looks like as if someone else is shooting you guys handheld.
Absolutley love the vibe of your videos. Beautiful guys and hope you feel better soon Cody. Just a small note when you doing you tripod shots switch image stabilisation off as you camera was wobbling around.
Love your backpacking videos! Amazing camera work and story telling. Hope you fought the sickness by now. Hating backpacking until you get to that epic campsite is part of the game I guess. It's almost always worth the effort put though :) Do you guys plan to try winter mountaineering some day? If you love rock climbing I think you might love to conquer some epic snow capped peaks as well. The views from Matterhorn Peak in the winter are absolutely amazing and guaranteed smoke free ;)
Being able to be mobile and able to provide the necessities while on the road I personally would consider a southern haul when the winter weather hit hard. areas to explore in places like AZ or even a southern states exploration. Winter, or summer Jr, as we call it in FL is about the only time you can comfortably explore certain parts of FL. Being from Cali myself I never thought of the snowbird life until I moved out here and seen how the snowbirds from up north flock to here when the temps start to drop. Feel free to reach out if you ever make it out this way. Also Banff sounds like an amazing idea for Summer 2023
FL is definitely a place we’d like to check out! Be curious to see if this van makes it out that way. We don’t know anything about the east coast at all so it’s be cool to explore
@@codyandvictoria There are some cool areas to explore, no climbing or anything of that nature in FL but some places worth seeing. North GA, SC, NC, TN are all worth exploration at different times of the year. If you're interested I have decent knowledge on areas you would probably enjoy.
You guys filming on prime lenses these days? Your shots are looking nice and crisp. The isolation of the subject from the background felt noticeably defined. Also Hazel's personality throughout the video really reminds us of our cattle dog. Bratty but so cute.
What is your favorite lens to use with your fuji? Also what do you do with all the photos you take on your hikes? Do you post them anywhere or just keep them as a personal collection of memories?
I love love your editing style and how you round out your shots. Do you use a plug in for when you have a still shot of you walking away to make it look like somebody is filming y'all instead of your camera on a tri-pod?? It almost looks like it's a drone stationary filming y'all so I just wanted to know if it was a plug in or not. I love it!! Feels so cozy and not 'set up'
I’m not using a plug-in. I’m actually tracking real handheld movement from one of the other shots and applying it to the static clip. It’s a big pain in the butt so we’ll see how long I keep it up 😂😂 thanks a bunch for watching
Great video. Yeah, Thousand Island Lake is a long hike for an overnight but always beautiful. Let me ask you, do you have a 3rd person there shooting some of your video?
Is the camera shake added in post for the shots that no one is holding the camera or that due to wind? Was out there in August, classic Sierra backpacking destination!
Hey guys, I just finished an exausting hike from Mammoth to Yosemite. It was absolutely awesome. But now I'm in South Lake Tahoe and my planned beach @ Rubicon Bay is closed. Since you lived in this area, do you have any tips for a not so known beach? I search for something with these awesome granite rocks in the green water. No problem to hike a little bit if there are lesser people. Thx in advance...
Btw. I woke up at Garnet Lake and I will be stunned for the rest of my life! Donahue Pass was painfull but I will never gonna miss it! That was quite high up on my bucket list... The outdoor are awesome... 😁
hi Cody and Victoria, may i know what camera and lens you're using to film this backpacking trip? i hope it's something light as bringing a huge one on a 8 mile hike is insane
I wish I knew your editing software, settings to export, bitrate, codecs... all that. I export my video's at around 40 Gb and still the quality is not really great... After the YT conversions is not much left from it. Thanks in advance (I had to ask)!

Haha hikes for the dog is definitely a thing
I'm so addicted to your videos that I'm repeatedly watching them😊.
The cinematics are so good with this film, I keep expecting it to make a dramatic tonal shift, where a dead body is discovered, or some crisis happens
Ha I’ll take the compliment!
I love the Eastern Sierra in the fall, those aspens and peaks… Thanks for sharing your adventures! ❤
Looked like a type 2 fun kind of trip.
Loving Hazel the Wonder Dog. Great vid. You guys are so tough!

I don't know. For a mistake, you sure did make the most of it! Gorgeous site.
I really loved the music in this one. Plus, that sunrise reflection shot looked totally worth 8 miles, even at elevation 💯💯
100% agree. It was worth it
Masterpiece as always
The colors!!
Dude that yellow in the forest was so beautiful. I’m jealous because we don’t get anything like that here in Florida.
Yeah man we’re from AZ originally so it’s nice to see the leaves like that. Pretty wild
I love these videos so much

on fcpx it’s called handheld camera or something like that. it’s definitely a stylistic choice

VBR 2 pass
target 40 max 50
Use maximum render quality
