    we have had ours for 4months and easily get 5.5 per 100 that is also with some 19 inch mags which make a huge difference to the stock spongy handling

    Does this have a torque converter 6 speed Brett? Bit over dry clutch gearboxes from Hyundai/Kia. They are jerky and dont last. Thanks.

      @drivingenthusiastaustralia  6 месяцев назад +1

      Kind of. This uses a conventional 6-speed automatic. But the electric motor is mounted between the gearbox and engine (basically where the torque converter would be). It doesn't feature a torque converter though. Instead, there's something Kia calls an "engine clutch" which brings in and cuts off ICE power. The electric motor helps during initial take off with the 'hybrid starter generator' (basically a very powerful starter motor).
      Hope that helps.

      @@drivingenthusiastaustralia cheers mate. That sounds good. So therefore no DCT clutch packs to crap themselves and I imagine no DSG low speed jerking behaviour exhibited when you drove the car?
      If so Kia have a real winner here. 7 year warranty and better specs than the also now aging RAV4.
      And I'd take the better acceleration over the fuel penalty versus the RAV4 personally.

      Yes that's right, no DCT. Very smooth take-off. And yeah, I tend to agree. This isn't as economical as the RAV4 but you get more power and it's quicker. It's a shame it misses out on AWD though (probably not a big deal for most).

      @@drivingenthusiastaustraliaamazing! Think I've found my next car to replace my Cerato GT for my wife and I.
      if anyone is brave enough to destroy their warranty and tuners could be bothered this vehicle could also be the world's first SUV tuner eco sleeper.
      The 1.6 turbo engine by itself is good for 180kw after a tune so 220kw combined power would be possible.
      It would really need AWD then!

    Kia nailed it with this hybrid! 🔥

    Hyundai is pronounced like "Sunday", sir.

      Thanks for the tip. I'm not from Korea and do not know how to speak Korean, sorry. I probably do not pronounce 'Lamborghini' the authentic way either. And I say 'Volkswagen' and not the proper 'Volks-vagen' too. Sorry.

    I believe the 1.6 litre Turbo engine is a direct injection engine which tend to have issues with carbon buildup by around 100 000 klms?

    Can't see point in driveing like that

    It does not have an efficient hybrid system. You can check Edmunds tests or car&driver tests or even Auto wizja from Poland fuel economy tests. It's a lot less efficient than the rav4 hybrid and even less efficient than the CRV hybrid.
    I've seen a head2head test done in Ukraine versus the rav4. Same route, same time, same conditions, driver switch. Way worse fuel economy than the rav4 hybrid.

      Yes, I agree (and highlighted in the video). I’ve tested a RAV4 hybrid and got into the 4sL/100km. And it comes with AWD - this is only FWD.
      This is a good start though, and it’s great that it is offered in Australia, finally.

      But what about people like me who dislike a gutless RAV4 and hate CVT? Yes that car is all about saving fuel, I'd rather this for a combo of economy better than a boring slow 4cyl and it has useable punch, particularly mid speed acceleration. And RAV4 is fck ugly but CRV is sexy as but slow too. Gotta have a point of difference, we all don't want the same thing!

    • @Eugen-E
      @Eugen-E 6 месяцев назад

      @@kidfreejones That cvt you hate actually works better than this 6 speed auto. Go beyond 100km/h and there's 0 difference in acceleration between this and the rav4 hybrid. Short gears help it from 0 to 100 and that's all.
      Rav4 is ugly because it is already old. This sportage is not a good looking car either.
      Expect the new gen rav4 to smash this sportage.

      its not that bad easily 5.5 litre per 100 and better performance than a rav4 4

    • @Eugen-E
      @Eugen-E 4 месяца назад

      @@ozevox In exactly the same conditions the rav4 burns ~1L/100km less. That's a lot! Have seen a head2head comparison in Ukraine. Even the CRV hybrid which also is less efficient than the rav4 is more efficient than tucson hybrid.
      "Better performance" that's just 0 to 100 because hyundai has short fixed first two or three gear ratios. After 100km/h it's not faster than the rav )) this means if you want to overtake someone the hyundai will not be faster and we talk about the already old rav4 with the 4th gen HSD. Next year the new rav will get the 5th gen HSD.
