This right here is a great example of why we fish! The mystery of just never knowing what you could pull out of the depths on any given day! Congrats bro, beautiful fish
I'm watching this with a massive smile on my face. So rad that dude gave you a hand. People who fish are some of the nicest I've ever met. Epic video brother!!!!
Adam almost cost you that fish by grabbing the line (and dropping that gorgeous fish on a rock). Kids at home: NEVER grab light lines with big fish on them. The rod bend absorbs the stress and weight. The line itself will often snap the second you pull on it and transfer that pressure.
I’ve got to say the smile you have when you’re holding that fish shows that catching it meant way more to you than the potential views you might get. It’s why we do it. Thanks for sharing
That was AWESOME!!!!! An absolutely GORGEOUS fish, too!!!! Never even heard of a tiger-trout before!!!! That's gotta be the prettiest trout I've even seen!!!!
Tiger trout is the hybrid cross between a male brook trout and a female brown trout. (Salvelinus fontinalis) X (Salmo trutta). They are sterile and they are strong. Beautiful fish! One of the few inter genus cross breeds.
First off congrats on the fish! Secondly can’t praise you enough for letting it go, so many anglers get caught up in their trophy and decide to keep the fish. Hopefully someone else will get to hook up on that trout when it grows even bigger.
That's the beauty of anglers that film I think Eddie. Footage of the catch and release is much more rewarding than a corpse of a specimen and can be more widely shared.
This is so great i absolutely love your excitement. Glad its on video and you can relive this experience. Even better show it to the little huumans in your life so they want to know how to fish.
Outstanding tiger trout Wow! Your strike indicator may have been spooking him a little bit which is why it took so long for him to eat it but nonetheless it worked out amazing! This really keys into the whole “fishing what in front of you first” not just trying to send your line as far out as possible. I see a lot of nice fish get scared away after the first cast due to people trying to send it all the way across the lake and not noticing the abundance of fish in the first 10ft of water, loved hearing that drag squeal when he took you for a run 🙌
Wouldn’t casting right on your fish or even being close enough to only have to cast a foot infront of you spook it way more than casting across the lake?
@@calebarritt4332 in most cases yes absolutely, I try to cast beyond the fish or plenty short so it has time to sink and get down to the fish without scaring it. This big tiger wasn’t going anywhere tho, coulda probably walked right in and grabbed him haha
@@hgflies Yup. In fact my buddy was good at catching nova scotia rainbows with his bare hands when they were hanging out under a rock. Well, at least one probably by fluke. Never heard of a tiger trout. That was nice eh.
People can catch those planter trout all day long and have fun with their kids. As for this Native tiger Thanks for letting him live another day. Good man 👍🏻
Awesome fish dude ! If I didn’t know you got him, I was just waiting for him to come off ! Congratulations !!! It’s about the size of those dead ones you found before.
Great vid like the rest. You need a casting bubble dude. A-Just-A -Bubble is a good one, usually available at Walmart. You can partially fill with water to add weight and get your casts farther out, plus they are clear. Congrats on the epic Tiger.
I had a same situation at Panguitch Lake, seen a Tiger swimming the shore in shallow water. I was using nightcrawlers and dropped it an inch in front of him. But he wasnt going for it, theres a reason why they get that big... cause they're cautious and smart.
When he's to big for the net ! Heart rate goes up and the intensity is crazy fun love the feeling ! The anxiety until you land him oh brother ya sweat ! Great fish dude Thumbs-up !
Now that is an impressive trout man! And you pulled it off with a barbless hook on 4lbs test!! R U freakin kidding me??! Huge congrats and now I'm going to smash that like button!
Amazing fish and you respected the fish so that someone else can catch him hopefully when he is bigger. You're a rare angler. Most would have manhandled it to death or kept it just for the bragging rights for the day. I would have let it go as well nothing more exciting than coming back there with a possible chance to catch him again
There are several small creeks up here in Alaska thst the big rainbow, cutthroat, and Dolly Varen Char sit. I’m talking 15-30 inches and 4-13 pounds. They are trained on salmon eggs like hatchery fish or on pellets. They are beautiful fish. Always fat and their meat goes from red to orange when cooked.
BARBLESS! Oh snap dude haha! I love the barbless, it just makes it that much more crazy haha. Great catch brother! Such a cool experience. Glad you could share it with us.
I have fished in New Jersey, they stocked them a few years ago, and today they are still around today 2023, back in the 70-80s, I was there 6 yrs ago had 1 on my fly rod what a fighter and I use #22 flys bareless..
That was awesome to catch that on a barbless fly, and 4lb line, good job my friend, I’ve never seen a tiger trout so big, we don’t get them here in Scotland
Nice fish! I landed a wild brown in my local upstate NY fishing spot. A tributary to the Delaware river on the Orange/Sullivan county line. I was throwing an enormous jig beach head stonefly tied on a long shank streamer hook. Tossed my line out, put my rod under my arm to grab my phone out of my vest. Put my phone away and when I put the rod back into my hand and retrieved the slack, the beast was on. Could barely fit in the net. 24” monster wild male brown. Anyway, my buddy has caught tiger trout in the same river. Not heavily fished. I still haven’t caught one to date myself.
What elevation were you at. It seems so improbable that a small (and it looks shallow) lake could produce such a trophy fish. Congratulations. Where I fish in the Uintas there is (almost) no way that a trout will ever grow that large because of the short growing season.
Holy man what a monster! And caught on a barbless hook and light line no less. It was certainly a good day for you to swing your feet out of bed and go on the hunt. You never know what’s out there that you may be lucky enough to see. This one I reckon is one you won’t forget.
I wish you would've kept it! because the fish seemed weak, obviously didn't fight you much at all, though I agree with you that it's nice to release monsters so they can give birth to a new generation that will also hopefully get that big, if i catch a monster trout that seems to be weak (and safe to eat of course) id keep it! but that's just me! great video and amazing fish dude!
He's about 5lbs easy nice place you where at. It's a hybrid brown trout and cutthroat trout the can't mate and hybrids get big fast that's one thing they going for them.
Wow congrats man! Tiger trout of a lifetime indeed...saw your previous grayling video. Seems like we'll be seeing more fly fishing videos this summer. Keep up the good work!

you and him need to do a colab, maybe your brother could as well. The tres amigos🤣
Hell yeah man
Hell yes would love to see a collab. Bass and trout has been putting in his hard work for years.

Dude. You snagged it.
No, he didn’t….
@@texture650 He absolutely did.
At no time did the fish willingly take it. He drug it to the fish, and set the hook.
@@j.t.patton7820 I see what you’re saying, rewatching it a few more times that fish didn’t seem very interested in that fly.
Holy cow! What a beautiful fish and a giant! What a tiger!!! Great job dude!
that is just amazing. wow! i cant believe you got this on video like that. absolutely prestine!
Nice encounter with the fish and the people! Adam was cool to help!
Very relaxed fish. It did not even care u caught it
Top!!

Almost like bed fishing for spawning bass. Just keep sticking a bait in their nose until they get so annoyed that they bite.
Wow that's a monster!! Great job on a 4lb line!
