Most people know this from _Supernatural_ but I’m old enough to remember playing this on Guitar Hero. Those were such fun times to be a kid and come home and rock and roll. Life was so much fun back then. 😢
My son just passed away 3 days ago. This was playing on the car radio on my way to the hospital to say good bye. It's in my head every day now too. I'm so sorry for your loss.
Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more Ah Once I rose above the noise and confusion Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man Though my mind could think I still was a mad man I hear the voices when I'm dreaming I can hear them say Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more Masquerading as a man with a reason My charade is the event of the season And if I claim to be a wise man Well, it surely means that I don't know On a stormy sea of moving emotion Tossed about, I'm like a ship on the ocean I set a course for winds of fortune But I hear the voices say Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry no more no! Carry on You will always remember Carry on Nothing equals the splendor Now your life's no longer empty Surely heaven waits for you Carry on my wayward son There'll be peace when you are done Lay your weary head to rest Don't you cry Don't you cry no more No more!
All parts in this song are beautiful! I play all these instruments, some better than others. Of these instruments I’m best at piano as I’ve been playing by ear since childhood, plus I’ve played guitar since I was about 8 (when I first heard Jimi Hendrix play so I learned like 9 of his songs front to back including his rendition of star spangled banner in like 2 weeks practicing relentlessly) I’m a decent (nothing special but always in key) singer followed finally by a basic drum skill (nothing special either at all on these as I was just a rhythm keeper fill in for a band that played for fun). All that said, I have a solid grasp as to exactly what goes into each composition. While the piano sounds nice, my PERSONAL OPINION (just a humble opinion) is that the guitar part of this song is the most beautiful part of it. The solos in this song have SO MUCH SOUL. It’s an absolute masterpiece all the way around. From the depths of the lyrical perspective down to the timing of the silence on the drums, this song is VERY well composed. An absolute eargasm. As of today I have decided to make a composition video where I film and record myself playing each part of this song and put a composition together of my own. I’m going to have it for my eventual funeral because I think when I die, it will cheer people up seeing me do what I love and it feels to me like this would be a cool legacy to leave. Granted it’s not my song, but this is a message I can get behind spreading. Plus a lot of people do not know the depths of my musical abilities that are being squandered and wasted because I never play for anyone. I just woke up from a dream and realized that I needed to do this for myself. It’s that powerful of a song 😍🙌🏻
When I hear this song It reminds me of the prodigal son in the Bible. Living a life style and making choices his father did not approve. Returning broken and needing love, forgiveness and most of all grace. Just like the rest of us!
I also see it as a warrior fighting for what he thinks is right knowing one day the battle will come to an end he can finally lay his weapons down for peace
Uff this lift me out , like a hand from heaven , all i lost in the stupid covid , depression and loneliness , take a toll on my mind . But things like this jewel 💎 , give me strength to carry on

For those who do not know, this song is Buddhist. It was a popular song of my youth and I have sung it often. The man who wrote it was Buddhist. “Beyond this Illusion” refers to the Illusion in Buddhism ☸️, which is held to be existence in the material plane. “I was soaring ever higher” refer to the spiritual plane, which usually can only be achieved meditation, but is not bound to meditation, through seeking Nirvana. It, the state of Nirvana, can only be held temporarily. “I still was a blind man” is the Buddhist belief that we cannot truly see true reality as we are trapped within the Illusion. “Still a mad man” means I am insane within the Illusion. “If I claim to be a wise man, it surely mean that I don’t know” because nothing can truly be known with certainly within the Illusion is also reflecting central belief within Buddhism ☸️ - not only do we do not know, we never know while trapped within the Illusion. Nirvana, by the way, does not belong solely to Buddhism ☸️, it also belongs to Hinduism 🕉. Key 🔑 Phrase: “The Illusion” tells you this song is from Buddhism ☸️ or Hinduism 🕉. I am not going to go into all the phrases that ties the song to Buddhism ☸️ because what you see and identify with is a response of the soul. But it is Buddhist and can serve anyone in whatever fashion they seek... because your response is within and from the soul. Thus, it belongs to anyone and everyone. It does not limit itself to just Buddhists. Again, I will post: The song belongs to everyone and does not limit itself to Buddhism ☸️.

Been so there. Looking at freaking ticket stubs and saying to self “la your weary head to rest”. Grandkids and even kids have no clue. Stories of wild yester year Kansas. Seeing the big album jacket in my mind. Jumped Dallas but memories deeply sketched and imbededd in the impenetrable recesses of my heat. Like this comment already lost in virtual infinite or infamy. What is diff. Lost is key word here 😎. Lay weary head to rest….

Yes, it is clean Rock! Love it! And I live in Kansas and can relate.
One of the greatest songs ever produced.
Most people know this from _Supernatural_ but I’m old enough to remember playing this on Guitar Hero. Those were such fun times to be a kid and come home and rock and roll. Life was so much fun back then. 😢
I remember hearing this as a 4th grader when it first came out.
I remember hearing this on the radio as a kid.
My son just passed in Feb.. this song hits different now. I hear this song in my head every day.
I’m really sorry for your loss! I lost my daughter in January! Stay close to Jesus, He will never leave you or forsake you! John 3:16!
My son just passed away 3 days ago. This was playing on the car radio on my way to the hospital to say good bye. It's in my head every day now too. I'm so sorry for your loss.
_Supernatural babyyyy!!_
I love this song. Not just because I'm a raging fan of supernatural but the tune and lyrics are golden
Winchester brothers brought me here!
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Ah
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man
Well, it surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about, I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more no!
Carry on
You will always remember
Carry on
Nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry
Don't you cry no more
No more!
Come on Sammy, We got work to do!
Rise and shine Sammy ❤

Kansas had music so crisp and clear, the lyrics are easy. But thanks for your work. I appreciate you
this is the anthem of anyone who enjoys supernatural, none of yall can change my mind
This song brings back so much of my childhood, because my parents love Kansas and would play this in the car, and so I came to love it too.
Fantastic song, now that's real ROCK.

I’ve always loved this song, but when they used it in Supernatural it fit so well that it’s only added to my love.
😊 I just like singing it. In Supernatural the version with the kids singing it was particularly sweet....imo.😊
I think that the most understood lyric in this song for me is - carry on my wayward son - don't you cry no more. Sorr, but I don't hallucinate.
