Act 1 had to be edited out due to some audio problems. It was an explanation of the Routeburn Track and New Zealands Great Walks. Also I am aware I pronounced Czech wrong and I apologize.
All good; well done. Correcting ... or even acknowledging mistakes post-editing is an inherant character of one who cares, respects and values their content. And viewers. So glad I'm perfeck.
I'm roughly from the same region and I've made ALL of these mistakes, just under low risk circumstances. I feel there's a strong cultural element to this: - we have mountains at home, it's just a pleasant walk (but nothing like NZ) - snow? we grew up in snow - signs and other official recommendations? well they're often burdensome, wrong and unnecessary - taking shortcuts? well thats just obvious and clever thinking, following rules gets you nowhere - conditions seem tough? well life is tough, suck it up
Did the Milford years ago. One of the staff was telling me about some walkers who were doing the walk without using the huts(you can do this but there are rules about where you can camp etc). After hearing about them from other hikers he went out to see them. They had set up their tents in an avalanche area. There are very prominent and clearly written signs saying 'Avalanche area - do not stop in this area' in different languages. There is another sign to let you know when you are clear. That was in summer. In winter some of the bridges are removed as its cheaper to do that than rebuild them each summer. You can't stop people from venturing into the outdoors but surely being told not to go, knowing huts are closed and you will be alone are just two signs that it's not a good idea
I can't believe I finally found a good channel with a wonderful human voice. So many other channels could be . But they are not because of a creepy A. I. narrator. I've also found there is a growing number of people that feel the same way about A. I. So thank you !!! Please keep the stories coming- you do have a great voice for this.

I live in Arrowtown, a small village in Queenstown in the South of the New Zealand South Island. I used to work in a camping ground/holiday park there, and many people were camping here prior to hiking the Routeburn. I was constantly amazed at the amount of people who attempted this in winter with no previous experience and no proper gear. Also, no extra supplies etc in case their hike didn’t go to plan… Many of them amended their preparations when advised by camp staff, but there were always individuals who carried on blissfully over confident in their abilities… Bonkers
I had heard this story several times but you included information others didn't, which tells me you actually looked into the details while they likely parroted what other videos included. Good work!
@@Throughtheireyes91the narration and composition of said narrative, is excellent. Very well written. Technically it’s also very nice. Understated and appropriate imagery, that is well edited and adds nicely to the exposition. Good work. I’m glad I found this channel. Thank you for your efforts. 🙏🙂
Great presentation! I especially like the multiple images rather than one stagnant image like other channels. Great narrator, too! Doesn't try to oversell it.
Great job telling this story! So many ways this could have been avoided but sometimes people think nothing bad can happen to them and off they go without really thinking about what they are about to do. New subscriber, here's to many more!
The story was very interesting. Thank you for reminding us of the risks of inexperience and hiking in bad weather. There were some images that were distractingly unrelated. Would like to see more images of the actual people involved whenever possible.
Nice video! Good narration, videography, music is eerie without being obnoxious. Yep I think I’ll subscribe. I feel bad these people ventured out so unprepared. Not sure how so many poor decisions were made one after another? Anyone else just shaking their heads in frustration? May Andres rest in peace. Poor soul.
Knowing when to turn back is sensible. In the U.K. we have Kinder Scout at 2,087 feet. I set off from Hayfield car park at about 600 feet, walked for about half an hour in snow and turned on the hill to be met with hailstone, holding my arm up against it and after ten minutes I decided it was foolish to carry on. I had waterproof gear, hiking boots, a map and compass.
As an outdoors person I watch a lot of these types of videos. I am very impressed with everything in this: great photos, music, sensitivity to the two people's decisions without judgement, and you have a great voice for this. Please carry on. On a practical level, people leave a life in cities to go out into the far outdoors without preparation. The main thing I have learned is trust your gut. You don't like it, don't do it. And when your gut says turn around and go back, you do just that.
As a kiwi I don't know if I want to watch this. I guess every country thinks the tourists are a bit stupid but this takes the Mick. Not long ago I watched the news where it was raining hard. So you should expect flooding. Some tourists parked a rented motor home beside the river and had a cry because they had to have their lives saved when the river flooded to the top of their camper van. Or how about the Chinese tourist that had a shit on the side walk in hokitika caught on CCTV as it was in front of a shop. Next week someone will turn up to Antarctica in a bikini and wonder why it's cold. Learn a little about the place you visit before hand and it will enhance the reputations of tourists world wide.

Taxpayers pay for everything, because western society has decided that people shouldn't be responsible for themselves, especially if they're stupid and/or crazy
I say this with zero unkindness. This is one of THE worst stories of compounding one bad decision with another yet after another. It’s unpopular to suggest limitations or boundaries so I will say it in sincere hopes that it saves a life: KNOW WHAT YOU DONT KNOW. God bless them but these two had no business attempting what they endeavored. Moreover oftentimes gear and clothing vendors lean too far into “dude just totally go for it!” mentality. Forgetting that they have 12 years of alpine experience and the neophyte shopper seeking their wisdom has zero.
@@catherinecroucher3833 some are b roll images used as substitute. Its hard to look for images or videos of routeburn track when its snowing unless i pay for them but they are expensive.
Confused. When they say the the hut on the map was just 3 hrs away, it took her 2.5 days to reach it because they did not have the proper gear. That sounds fishy to me. Seems like they would have reached it late that same day or the next morning. It was interesting story though.
Your storytelling is excellent. Mmmmm… not so much your choice of stock photos and footage. A lot of cringe there. Honestly, if you just showed a photo of a mountain for your entire narrative, it would be more effective. I found your photo and video choice really distracting. It subtracted, rather than added, to your story.
