    Thanks for this very informative review. Never knew how the display worked as I bought it second hand. It’s got 138 !,
    And I know I’ve done over 50 so I got a bargain. Love the bike been out on it everyday. At 62 it brings back the joy of cycling.

    Welcome to the e-bike club, Fuzz. Been using my RadCity for commuting to and from work (16 miles each way) for the last few years and love it. Looks like you had a fun ride. I know that feeling as well. Great vid!!!

    Enjoyed your video - Like you, I am a keen "droner" but more relevant (to this video) I am a seasoned mountain biker and the last 5000km have been covered on my Trek Powerfly FS7 Plus e-bike. Although mine is a full-suspension off-road trail bike, it shares a similar Bosch "engine" to your bike. I was intrigued (looking at your display) that you were switching between "OFF" and "Turbo" which is a shame as I feel you are missing one of the greatest feautes of e-bikes and the Bosch in particular. The Bosch engine has five modes: (in increasing assistance): Off/Eco/Tour/EMTB/Turbo. On easy (almost flat) terrain, I have it on Eco - it offers me a tiny amount of assistance to keep me working out but "flattening" out the terrain a little - as the terrain gets tougher (in angle especially) I switch to the other modes - "Turbo" is reserved for those ridiculously steep hills or trails only. The "EMTB" mode is a Bosch-specific mode and it is a "set and forget" mode as the engine monitors the power that you are putting on the pedals to calculate the amount of assistance that it gives you - it's very clever and worth a try. In short there's a lot more that you can do with an e-bike beyond switching between "Off" and "Turbo"...
    Enjoy!

      Hi how are you getting on with the bike? I’ve just ordered from Halfords today wondering how it performs in the rain and does the battery ever cut out? Had to return 2 different bikes already (subway e & vengeance) due to the battery’s cutting out hoping this bike is better, thanks

    • @Wintermute666
      @Wintermute666 Год назад

      @Tyla Brinkhurst Just got in from work. I'm on about 150 miles now in total. Not had any problems up to yet. Had to take up a bit of stretch in the gear cable, but that's normal. Simple to do on the barrel adjuster. Biggest thing is the weekly clean as the weather has been crappy and I use a couple of tracks on the way to work. I've been getting about 40 miles between charges, but I recharge with 1 bar left. It's hilly round here too. Looking fwd to some nice long rides in the sun! Hope you like yours too. Please let me know how you get on once you've had a few rides

    • @Wintermute666
      @Wintermute666 Год назад

      @Tyla Brinkhurst Sorry, meant to mention it's never cut out or anything like that. I fitted beavertail mudguards, mainly to keep me dry, as I can't be bothered changing clothes at work. Bike seems not to mind the wet. Don't use a jet washer though!

      @@Wintermute666 hi sorry for the late reply, I’ve had mine 2 weeks now Im so impressed it’s changed my life no more waiting around for busses, I’ve also got mud guards it’s kept quite clean but will be due a wash soon I’m dreading it as I’m a beginner so if you’ve any tips that would be great! The seat I don’t mind either although it does come lose after every ride

    • @Wintermute666
      @Wintermute666 Год назад

      @Tyla Brinkhurst Hi, really glad you like it. I'm guessing it's the silver tube slipping in the frame. You can easily make this tighter. Just pull the lever away from the tube, turn the round screw thing on the opposite side and close up the lever again. It will either be tighter or looser. Turn screw other way if looser until the lever is quite hard to close up. Saddle shouldn't move if it's tight enough.
      Cleaning-wise, there are two things:
      1. Don't get any cleaning products on the silver brake rotors. Cover them up ( eg cling film ) till you're done
      2. Concentrate on the chain, gears at the rear, and gear changing mechanism. Use a brush ( eg old toothbrush ) and plenty of detergent. MucOff make good stuff but I just use cheap degreasing spray. Scrub till gears are back to chrome finish and chain looks nice and new. Rinse with clean water, then dry chain with kitchen roll. You will need a small bottle of chain lube to re-lube the chain. Just drip a little on while running pedals backwards. Give it 10 mins to soak in then clean off excess with kitchen paper. Done!
      The rest of the bike I do with a damp cloth. Whole thing takes about 20 mins once a week.
      Sorry to be long winded!

    Great review , thinking of getting one of these , it seems that you can still get a good workout , I live in Padstow, Cornwall and it’s so hilly , I only have a Brompton and the hills are a pain . I’ll definitely consider this . I’ve seen comments that you can get 10% off if you join British Cycling. I hope you are getting fitter, great that you are out and about.

    • @SimonsDrones
      @SimonsDrones  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for your comment. Getting 10% off would be a great discount! Yeah, hills can be quite a turn off for normal cycling but the e-bike really helps with them allowing you to get a decent overall work out I find.

  • @DavidSmith-hn5gg
    @DavidSmith-hn5gg 3 года назад

    I had one and the first thing I did was get rid of them terrible peddles! They’re like two bars of soap in the wet...put some decent studded ones like the boardman flat pedals or DMR pedals .... other than the pedals and the useless front forks it’s a great bike with good range. I kept my forks permanently locked off because even on the smallest bumps they used to bottom out making a horrible clanging noise. I put the poor performance of the forks down to the fact they’re was only 63mm of travel and they’re not air forks.I put a black stem on mine,black 38mm riser handlebars and a black seat post it looked sooooo much better than the tacky looking silver bits that rust very quickly. I also put some Schwalbe energiser plus Ebike specific puncture resistance tyres on. The standard tyres are not Ebike specific and they’re paper thin. On a heavy Ebike you do not want a puncture while you’re out and about trust me. Also for about £130 I fitted a Speedbox 3 which fits neatly behind the plastic motor cover and plugs into the existing factory wiring..easy to fit and removes the 15.5mph restriction made the bike an absolute joy to ride cruising up steep hills at 25mph.

    • @SimonsDrones
      @SimonsDrones  3 года назад

      Thanks David, some good tips there. I must replace the pedals as like you say, my feet keep slipping even if they are slightly wet. I thought it could have been my aging trainers but after reading your comment I'm thinking it is the pedals. Removing the 15.5mph restriction sounds helpful, but can't imagine it would be good for the battery? Will check it out, thanks!.

      @Simon-fr4ts Год назад

      Those are really expensive. I think you can reposition the cable mounted sensor and put a magnet on the crank arm to do the same thing. Only problem for some is the speedo does not show over 7mph or something. I don't care about the speedo myself to be honest, just battery life indicator. It's not like I am ever going to get done for speeding on one of these! I am hoping to buy one of these bikes soon, so will certainly be trying it.

    Halfords ? once Boris Johnson gets his finger out and comes up with his big promise of giving folks of a certain age and those with health conditions that are deemed as in need of exercise by their GP , a discount on E-bikes and one prescribed on the NHS , for sure Halfords will be a big player when it comes to providing those bikes, the only problem being they don't sell Riese and Muller high end bikes
