There is something particularly brilliant about Brilliant bikes, a UK based creator regularly exposed to wet weather, taking a summer holiday in an Alpine resort, in August, in the snow, to do a wet weather test on a Brompton bag, and not finding any rain. No other You Tube channel could pull this off, not even Kookaburra or Elliot. Keep up the good work.
I'm not sure I was quite prepared for Brilliantbikes swimsuit edition! Your dedication to the cause is rather superb! I must remember to get in touch with you guys about a replacement front wheel for an electric!
It’s a beautiful place. I’ve been lucky enough to visit twice, unfortunately pre Brompton! Maybe we should plan another trip with a Brompton! Thanks for watching! The little hut I was riding towards said Malaysia on it. To remind us of the warmth!
That bag is just the job for rainy ol Britain, notwithstanding the current sweltering heat! Reminds me of the Ortlieb rear panniers, just with the extra straps.
Seeing you travel on buses with a naked Brompton. My experience of travelling in trains and buses with a Brompton includes several situations which now demand that the B is covered. That included travel on Coaches on UK, where your B goes into the luggage compartment with travellers' suitcases (US riders think Greyhound). Also via Eurostar. One easy way to handle this is via the Brompton "Bike Cover with Integrated Pouch" - which you leave attached. I have an older model of this where you can remove the cover from the saddlebag pouch - tho even with the cover insode the pouch there is some small extra room for a tool etc. (Before getting organised with this cover i had a minor crisis trying to board the Eurostar in London. Luckily i found a nearby luggage wrap place which encased the B in plastic).
We totally agree the transit cover is brilliant! So simple and you can take it everywhere! I still prefer the first version! Thanks for watching and your comment
I have been lucky enough to visit twice, just beautiful! The little guy at the end of the street I was cycling towards said Malaysia on it to remind us of the warmth! Thanks so much for watching!
Hannah you’re bonkers going into the swimming pool!!!!😂. I have the same bag. It’s excellent just slightly on the small size. I’ve found the central part to be waterproof. Thanks as always.
Suggestion for future video. For many years there have been blog posts about replacing Brompton Easy Wheels with inline skate wheels which roll better - thanks to having bearrings, and being made of skating polyurethane. Recently i have seen some YT videos making use of the (very cheap) Oxelo inline skate wheels (63mm dia) from Decathlon. Fitting not hard, you need two longer bolts to finish the job. Parts for the job like EUR 10, so no problems wrt costs. There are potential issues of course, including.... #1 Additional weight. #2 inline skate wheels are stronger so in an accident the supporting rear rack may bend, rather than the wheel breaking (which is apparemtly one reason why standard Easy Wheels are by design a bit flimsy). #3 Clearance while pedalling - the Oxelo wheels are wider than stock wheels, so bigfoot riders may find their heels fouling the wheels when pedalling. #4 Not sure that this solution has been tried on all variants of frame types, Advance vs standard rack etc. Might he worth giving this subject the BrilliantBikes treatment.
That went swimmingly , yet another video in the bag , is it all about the song possibly = Waterproof = Cloud Cover & Fleurie , No doubt you’ve compiled all the songs I’ve sent over many feels like decades.
In all truth, Your Grace, I am a bit staggered that with the continent having been comprehensively grilled this summer and dear old Blighty a bit jolly warm, Team Brilliant pops up in a winter snowfall like its time-travelled to Christmas Eve!
Definitely a useful review! Worth noting for the UK commuting days where a mostly water resistant bag like the Carradice won’t cut the mustard… I don’t think I was aware it mounted sideways on the luggage block. That’s a great idea!
Good to see it put to the extreme. I have the same bag and have been through lots of rain on my commute... my only concern with this bag is the potential longevity of the velcro strap. I'd have preferred a clip srap, which might more easily be replaced. Not sure what can be done if / when the velcro becomes less grippy.
We have tried them before on a couple of videos, they are great! A bit prickly to install! Schwalbe Marathon Winter tyre installation on a Brompton wheel ruclips.net/video/gptp4R8Eh1I/видео.html Thanks for watching!
At 2:23 as you lead the bike away there are straps hanging from the backpack. Are there easy/convenient ways to secure those because they looked like they would get snagged on all kinds of things? Great video, didn't expect the swimming pool!
There are little magnets in the padded arm straps and (even more impressively) magents in the adjustable straps below the arm straps. These hold the straps to the main body of the bag. So no dangly bits. Ingenious!
A boring question, but do you think the little pocket liner will de-bond internally? I ask because my little blue brompton roll top bag has developed this fault. I think you lot are great by the way.
The swimming pool also doesn’t say no bike, so I wonder what would happen if you jump into the pool with your Brompton 😂 BTW, rainstorms in Malaysia is no joke. It would be a good place to test out your bag.
Lol! We thought we might be able to do a bit of fun riding at the top. But had snow instead! Thanks for watching! Mind you we have cycled up to a ski resort before…..

Thank you so much for the lovely comment! I was not certain how to reply, as it’s just lovely! Thank you!!

My family are from Penang, and I proudly have the Malaysian flag on my Brommie. Beautiful country.

I honestly have been impressed with it, just a bit of a shame the little pocket leaks.
Jumping in the pool! Now that’s what I call a real test and shows your dedication to the cause Ms Brill. 😇 Very good 😘
It was rather fun! Thank you for watching!

It did feel a little crazy! New bag into a swimming pool! But we were impressed at how well it did! Thanks for watching

Lol. It was very strange! Thanks for watching!
If that's your summer holiday i can't wait to see what your winter holiday is going to be. Nice video.
😀! We must remember to take the Winter tyres!

@ 3:26 what kind of puddle was it? 🙂 Please do it all again.
lol! It was a wet pool of water puddle!
Thanks for watching!
A boring question, but do you think the little pocket liner will de-bond internally? I ask because my little blue brompton roll top bag has developed this fault. I think you lot are great by the way.
There is a full internal liner, so it’s like it’s double skinned.
Sorry to hear about you bag, would it still be under warranty?
You could go on a return trip and test out the Schwalbe studded tyres......?
We have tested them before! They are great! Thanks for watching!
Hi H.. cant believe that you brought the bike to the alps .. did you even get to ride there? :P
Of course, there was no snow lower down.
Thanks for watching!
Hello Guy's,
The things you have to do for us - lol... it clearly is really waterproof... See you on the next one.
Take care.
Paul,,
Many thanks for watching our madness again! We had fun, hope you enjoyed it!
Lovely way to test for waterproofing, but a hose down in the back garden is so much easier. 😂 👍
Very true, but not as fun! Thanks for watching!

Funny we did think about the bike in the pool, then felt the chain would not like it!
Maybe we should schedule a Malaysian trip?
Hello. Nice video.
Was the copper colour a limited edition?
Certifiable. Both bag and owner! 😂
Yes it was only released in limited numbers. Let’s hope it comes back!
@@brilliantbikes Ah that’s a shame. Thanks for the reply 👍
