The fact that the finale hinges on this miscalculation of Anthy's - that she could save Utena, but also make her leave (which are inextricable to her) by showing how deeply ugly she was, but instead Utena made the ultimate gesture of love by following her anyway, by showing her not just forgiveness, but acceptance of her deepest self, and knowing that she is not unlovable despite everything is what gives Anthy the strength to leave. I'm really fragile rn so that hits so much deeper. I love this show. Anthy found that Akio was not the only person who would ever embrace her wholly. All this time that she dismissed Utena was bc she thought Utena didn't know, letting her know (by showing her relationship with Akio and then by betraying her) was her last resort and it didn't work.
genuinely, i am very honored to hear this... thank you! i know it is an odd choice when people use it for romantic relationships, but i feel like it works very well for this relationship.
I come back to this every so often just because of how perfect it is, the way that you arranged everything made the experience of the music and the visuals just infinitely better and god the ending half of it is so perfect and beautiful!! I’m a huge rgu fan and a huge crane wives fan so seeing them put together in the best way possible just is so great

I realized that this connection is probably because Anthy IS a Crane Wife. She's constantly hurting herself to keep close to the only one that (she thinks) loves her. All girls are, in some way, the Rose Bride, and an women are, in some way, the crane wife. I don't think it's a coincidence those themes line up.
