You really need to find out more about the role of the British Commando. These guys are Royal Artillary, and have artillayman's skilks but are are Commandos foremost. They will be inserting deep behind enemy lines and may well have to covertly take out enemy personnel and positions. Tgey may well have to carry out CQB and building clrarance. This unit does not man the artillary guns. They are trained at tge Royal Marines Commando Training Centre. A lot of whay you said shows a non comprehension of their training and role.
Why would they call them Artillery then? We had Trained Forward observers who could call in both Mortar fire or Artillery fire, but their first job was to Close with and Destroy the enemy. That is the job of the Infantry. I guess it is just different from what I am use to.
@@DarthTigger No this is a very different school of thinking that goes back to British WW2 commando's @kevinharry7418 is spot on in what he said Infantry in general no offence don't have the smarts for this sort of role after all we all know the "Infantree" is usually the thickest tree in the forest! They also complete a fairly tough course to get there green lid and commando badge/Tab this day. The All Arms Commando Course (AACC) run down in Lymstone at the (CTCRM) Commando Training Centre Royal Marines. The Engineers have there own commando unit also it used to be 59 Commando but I believe that's changed to 24 Commando
