    Hello again, I bought 4 mm cord, and it is still not even close to the size you are using. Do you sell cord? If not could you please share where you purchase your cord. I am just not understanding why when I purchase the size cord that everyone recommends, it doesn't look like the cord they are using.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Please help if you can
    Thanks
    Tim

      @SimplyInspiredbySheena  2 года назад

      💙 I’m sorry to hear you’re having a difficult time with supplies….and no, you are not doing anything wrong.
      What is happening is that each rope manufacturer measures their rope at different stages of product completion. If the rope is still wet and that’s when they measure their size, when it dries the fibers expand making it larger in diameter, whereas others measure when it’s dry, or before they dip dye, and so on…so you can see that would definitely cause a discrepancy in what “4mm” means.
      I almost always buy my rope from RopeShop.ca I find that they have very high quality rope. It’s Canadian sourced materials and Canadian manufactured which means a lot to me because I’m Canadian. Ganexxt is also a fantastic rope supplier and there’s a couple amazing Etsy Shops that have wonderful rope.
      One day I’d love to have my own rope but that is a future goal 💙
      I hope that helps and I’m sure you can still create something amazing with what you’ve already purchased

    Hello again, I would like to ask you where you get your cord. I have been buying my cord on Amazon, and each time I receive what I ordered I am disappointed. You say you are using 3mm cord on your white, I have 3mm cord and it is really soft and thin comparing to what you seem to be using.
    Maybe I am just buying the wrong cord.
    If you could offer some advice, I would greatly appreciate it.
    thank you

    Quick question. Is there a reason why you don’t use the yellow cord while making the daisy knot? Why do you thread it through after wards?

    • @SimplyInspiredbySheena
      @SimplyInspiredbySheena  3 года назад

      💙 the yellow cord is stitched in as opposed to knotted. It’s quicker to hand stitch than trying to weave it in as you go.
      But of course if you’d rather give it a try the other way that’s totally up to you, I like the idea of eliminating the need to use glue too ☺️🌼

    I am new to Macrame and I have a friend that has asked me to make a plant hanger, their pot is pretty large, 10 1/2 inches by 7 1/2 inches and when the soil is moist the pot weighs 42 pounds.
    Do you think I will need to get an extra heavy cord? Also do you think a hanger like what you just made would hold that much weight?
    I am not sure what to do.
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Tim

    • @SimplyInspiredbySheena
      @SimplyInspiredbySheena  2 года назад

      💙 Hello Tim! There are quite a few factors in determining the strength of your rope creations so unfortunately I can’t give you a straight forward answer. However I can give you several pointers:
      When purchasing your rope make sure you look up the manufacturers tensile rating. Cotton rope is one of the lesser durable types of rope and is not the best to use in outdoor conditions as the fibers wear down more easily over time. 3 strand rope is stronger than single strand and braided rope is stronger than both!
      Different types of knots also determine strength as well, for example; you may be using the strongest rope but if your plant hanger ends in a gathering knot that knot can slip down under too much weight. I recommend ending in a crown knot whenever you are worried about strength, check out this video of mine where I do just that: ruclips.net/video/r1TQZSTDMyk/видео.html
      And finally, this is the most over looked factor of them all….your ring you use which holds up the entire plant hanger. I often see many artists use wooden rings and although I personally think that they are more aesthetically pleasing, wooden rings break VERY easily. I buy my stainless steel rings at my local hardware store and they are also graded for weight
      I hope that helps and at least gives you a few ideas 🤗💙

    • @timbrut256
      @timbrut256 2 года назад +1

      @@SimplyInspiredbySheena Thank you so very much for your advice and ideas. I will use a steel ring, I was wondering about the wooden ring but wasn't sure it would hold, I am so glad that you mentioned that they break.
      I will look for a braided rope, and I will check out your knot video.
      I am stressed out about this, but I am going to jump into it.
      Thank you again
