Right out of high school and my first year of college I worked in the freight/baggage department at Continental Trailways. During my late afternoon to midnight shift I saw eight of those Eagles come in and leave on schedule. Those were and still are beautiful coaches.
werksdesign my grandfather owned the Trailways depot in Tacoma, WA for over 40 years. I worked there about 5...and I’ve loaded many a suitcase myself! On an aside, I HATED when TWI has the special deal on bus freight, anywhere in the US for dirt cheap! People actually MOVED by bus (less furniture). If I had a nickel for every customer who I made rewrap their “bundle” I could pay for a pretty nice getaway!
rode one of the beauties from charleston s.c. to parris island south carolina.will never forget that bus.way more stately than the dog.a great ride, smooth and quiet until the marine drill instructor stepped on board around 11:30 at night!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my video and thanks alot of the comment =) every like and subscribe and comment helps me out, so i appreciate it
Never rode on T'ways, only on Greyhound, but there were many T'ways buses I admired, especially in the early 1970s when they had the lighted rear Trailways panel. I was surprised Greyhound didn't try one of their own.
I was privilege to drive this bus. It was assigned to Central Division of Trailways. It was either at Wichita or Kansas City, Mo. I really enjoyed my 10 years driving for Trailways out of Kansas City, Mo. A lot of great memories. The pride and professionalism that each of the drivers had driving for Trailways was great. I'm so glad this one was restored. These buses had character. The ride was so smooth.
I bought a 1981 eagle cause I love those buses, my only complaint was the huge amount of rust. During the manufacturing of these coaches, why didn't the factories infuse a anti rust/ protection coating on the inner metal sheets and frame??
I drove those 05 eagles 1976 to 1981for Trailways.Eagles were the best ride and cornered on Pennsylvania turnpike like sports car. The driver also made the ride smooth with smooth shifting. Great drivers could shift gears and change lanes without passengers even knowing. Sure do miss driving them. Drove other busses with automatics they just didn't compare.
We manufactured 8,000 Eagle buses from 1974 to 1997 in Brownsville,Texas. Unfortunately our world renowned suspension manufacturer in Belgium ( La Borgeua)and our front, rear, and bogie spring manufacturer (BF Goodrich) in the US decided to discontinue their products to decline in demand, thus the end of Eagle. But this was definitely the best bus going ever. Eagle buses were my life as I continued to refurbish them as a small business until I ran out of part resources. The end....
@@cesarioleal8375 My father worked for Trailways from 50s till he died in the 80s...;he was transferred to Brownsville late 78 till summer of 80. last name OGLE ... I was 17 when we moved to brownsville area and I use to help him with QC
@@cesarioleal8375 as 17 yo kid I was always impressed by the pride the workers in factory had, I had grown up hanging out at Trailways shops and when I went to brownsville the men in factory were some of the best I seen .. technically my father worked for trailways not eagle ... later he was transferred to dallas and he was VP in charge of maintaince and he had a strong work work ethic and he always admired the men who build the eagles
I met Frank Mallet in Dallas I bought a Model 01 Eagle from him for refurbishing for a Tejano artist. I also met Roy McBride who worked for Trailways,he was a clown in his spare time and had a miniature driveable Eagle bus.
I’m sure I met him sometime. I worked for Eagle from 1974 thru 1991,but continued to do business with them till they closed in 1997. In fact my partner Carl Guelker bought the last Eagle from the production line, in 2001 I went to work for Neoplan USA in Lamar,Co and moved operations to Brownsville,Tx same year great company to work for but was not Eagle. It folded in 2002.
Rode one from Atlanta to Dallas, TX. When I was 12 years old. The Trailways route made a LOT of stops, I remember - much more so than Greyhound's route. The bus had stand-alone ashtrays at the edge of the aisle. Was back when people smoked on the buses and no one gave it much thought. Rough-riding bus, and seems the exhaust fumes made their way into the passenger compartment. I felt nauseous. Trailways had a nice livery on these buses.
Never got to experience the Trailways Eagles I didn't get to ride the New Jersey Transit eagles which I miss the model ae20 and sentence anyway I can agree with you I also hate Greyhound or at least every experience I ever had with Greyhound is not pleasurable
Omg what a classic bus this was I used to always take it from New York City to new haven conn to visit friends and family it it was only like eight bucks more or less for a round trip ride I will just bet it’s like a good 30 bucks or more this day and age but I think it was little better than grayhound bus anyone else
For those of you who desire to own one of these buses I would highly recommend you visit pbscalemodels on EBay. The buses are so realistic that you can almost hear the engine running. The most authentic scale model buses I have ever come across.
Gorgeous this is the first commercial bus I had ever seen. Remember dropping my brother off at the bus station with my parents when I was a kid. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. after seeing it I remember it made me realize how ugly school buses are 😀
Without a shadow of a doubt, the most beautiful motorcoaches ever.........
I remember in the summer of 1964 stepping on one of those beauties headed from Georgia to Miami, what a thrill!
THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY VIDEO!
Ahh" memories on that bus from NorthCarolina to Philadelphia, Pa many years of riding,Thanks drivers so much for those memories
Wow! A model five that has not been recapped . I miss riding in those old eagles, my pappy was a 22 yr. Veteran with trailways,,coolest busses ever !

Always loved the Trailways buses over Greyhound. For whatever reason they smelled better too.
I rode on continental railways back in the 60s. the BEST experience ever.
Gorgeous!!!

During the building phase in the assembly factory, why didn't they use a chemical solution to prevent those busses from rusting so bad??
James Lawless awesome buses
My father drove for Trailways during the 70's-80's out of Portland, OR.
ghoulpn did he drive north or south out of Portland? I knew most of the Seattle-Portland drivers.
Mr. Lawless....were you ABL???

Did you work for Eagle International in Brownsville? The reason I ask is because my father worked with the factory in the late 70s early 80s
Yes I did since day one in 1974
Who was your dad?

Wow, she’s A Beauty! So strange to be able to look directly out of the back of a bus!
Those were classics. I miss riding them. My first ride on a charter bus was that model.
I never get tired of those Silver Eagles. Especially the model 5.

Trailways was a consolidation of regional bus lines. That's why there were so many stops. Trailways was American Airlines to Greyhound's Pan-Am.
i loved the Trailways eagles rode them from Philadelphia PA to Jacksonville NC when i was in the marine corps hated greyhound

Me too!
Thanks for the comment 😀 👍
Miss Continental Trailways. The Hound replaced them sometime ago where I live.

Thanks for the time-warp experience!
I like to look at the Eagle from the outside moving the suspension going in the back going which away separates them from MCIS and Prevosts!
Is this the bus I would have been on when I rode from Los Angeles to New York in July 1977?
That is a good quality bus if you look at it

Nice model 5

Красавчик!
Great video. This is coach is a model 5.
Good video buddy
Nice video
Now I want one
Looks good
I wish I could have this model one of the best eagles.
Cool
I wish Greyhound would have self Serve Galley's like Some Trailways buses have (had).

With lavatory that wasn't demonstrated since whoever entered the bus & walked to the back failed to open that lavatory door.
I apologize I didn't get that footage
@@BusTVChan It's cool. Perhaps next time.
i want to buy one of these buses
Weird tag axle
Which one is better Eagle fans 5 10 15 ?
Eagle AE-20 Is the best 👌 👍 😍
👍 😊Thanks for the comment 🚏 🚍
Trailways was always better than Grayhound..
