Danny’s “Hello again railfans” is as iconic as Jim Nantz’s “Hello Friends” ❤
Or Spike Jones' "Hello, Music Lovers". Merry Christmas, Danny! See you in the New Year...
Right up there with Paul Harveys' "Hello America!"
Totally agree! A Tradition Like Any Other!
I think I recall Danny telling me one of his inspirations was Paul Harvey, and I can certainly get that sentiment! "Danny Harmon, Out!" sounds just like, "This is Paul Harvey, Good day!"
The Jim Nantz of trains.
Dale Cobb is my nephew, my name is Charlie Johnson and I really enjoy watching your videos. In a nursing home now so your videos let me still enjoy stuff I can't go see anymore
Thanks for making these videos :)
Thanks very much Charlie. I'm so glad I can help bring you a little slice of railroading. I hope you're doing well. Yes, your nephew Dell is an incredible resource for me. I've learned things about track structure from him I would never have found out otherwise.
Always a pleasure Danny, thanks! I love learning 😊
Nothing better for an early Christmas present than a fresh episode of Distant Signal! Thanks, Danny
Amen!
Another fantastic presentation, Danny, but none of us are surprised by that. Thank you for promoting the Central Florida Railroad Museum and a Winter Garden, Florida restaurant. It's always a pleasure to have you with us.
I always like to promote the work of nice people, Irv. And, from what I've seen, you guys are some of the nicest.
@@distantsignalDanny, have you done a video about the business of serving rail spurs to private companies and how they work compared with truck transport? I know you’ve done some about the movement onto “private” spurs, but I’m trying to learn more about why railroads would keep the inactive spurs in urban areas. Thanks!
When Danny Harmon upload a video you know it’s a good day 👍👍
FACTS
That little guy at 12:15 is just so very happy! 🙂
I032…the infamous single stack monster…now with juice!
This is the best American rail channel by far, and I say that in full awareness that there are some really great channels out there.
Just totaled my car today was ruined but it put a smile on my face when I saw you upload
Nice catch of 3440 “The Spirit of Ravenna” at 4:28!
Always a good day when Danny shows up on my youtube
Up here along BNSF i wouldn't get close at all to a crew building. It must be nice to live along a railroad where the crews are friendly. Your videos always feel like we are your friends and you are taking us along. You manage to mix real heart, vlogging and hardcore railfanning all into one and i never get tired of that.
I’ve found that crews out west are a little more bitter towards railfans, while most southeastern crews are a bit more tolerant and even somewhat friendly towards railfans. It’s most likely due to most station and hirailer crews being very local to their area, and thus more accustomed to seeing railfans than western crews, which don’t see many railfans.
Another great video Danny. Nice to see so much stuff going by rail. It is the way forward. Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎅🤓
@@SouRwy4501Productions My son, a railfan himself and also a CSX Conductor. said many of his co-workers are also railfans.
I’ve been in multiple on BNSF and UP. No one minded but that was 5+ years ago
we have a CSX crew building in the town i grew up in. there was always a lot of switching and locomotives parked to run the parked cars up to the local industries. really cool guys, they would put a show on if you came to watch them switch
Knowing that you are a TV broadcaster, you give in-depth insight on how CSX routes their trains. Very informative.
Many thanks, Brian.
@distantsignal you're welcome! I am a big fan of your channel, and always look forward to what you post next. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you and your family.
Shoutout to the 2 3440 Spirit Of Ravenna appearances! Great video!!
4:29 And 10:32
This one video shows the importance of railroads to our economy and how PSR is managing it. Great job Danny!
YOU have lightened our very dismal winter with your wonderful, always up-lifting videos! We rreally appreciate your clear voice and the fact that you stay back enough for us to see the various cars and units that pass by! (Some get so close you can only see the "Trucks etc.".
THANK YOU for you work (hobby) for us to enjoy and learn from watching.\
My hubby is the best because he taught me and waited for me to "catch" the train FEVER so I've had many years of train-watching and he laughs at my ooh and WHOAs (only for Santa Fe that's another story!). We've been married for 61 years and everyone has been wonderful, with shared interests!
You never cease to amaze me with your knowledge of railroads. Enjoy watching and learning from your videos .
When Danny posts it warms my heart. It overheats (in a good way) when he talks
Hello Danny, I’m a retired LiRR locomotive engineer 10/72-7/02 . Transplanted myself from NY City in May’03 to Weeki Wachee FL,21 years this year. I have been a rail fan all my life starting with the NYC subway system in the mid 50’s as a toddler in Brooklyn near the Seabeach BMT line out of Coney Island. At age 3 we needed to buy a house on Long Island, so we moved to Nassau county since the family was growing. It’s there that I discovered the W.Hempstead line and continued my fascination with real commuter & many freight traffic.Enjoying your railroad stories immensely. Keep up the great work.Good job!
Danny, my 4yo son Aiden has been watching your videos since he turned 3. He has been a railfan ever since! Thank you so much for what you do and keep up the great work!
AWESOME video! Thank you!
It's always a great day when Danny posts another video! The man has the BEST voice in the business when it comes to narration. I wish I could spend the week down in Florida to witness all the rail traffic in a days time! Thanks again Danny for sharing another great video with us along with your PRICELESS time and effort! Cheers from Laurel, Delaware USA.
He rarely speaks about it on the Distant Signal videos, but those of us living in Tampa Bay can tune in to various TV and radio stations and easily recognize his warm and charming voice doing local commercial and station information voiceovers quite often. I really don't know how you find time to do it all Danny. 😄
10:20 I love the kid taking all the big fast trains in! He's obviously in heaven!
The fact that my hometown Talladega Alabama was mentioned really made this even more special
When you are down and out on this holiday season and you see Danny upload a video then everything turns out okay. Merry Christmas to my favorite railfan Danny!🎄
Danny, The thing that keeps me coming back is how knowledgeable and informative you are. You don't just show a bunch of trains passing at a grade crossing, but give us all kinds of super info. You have to spend many hours doing these videos. Thank you.
Merry Christmas. ;-)
Thanks for noticing that, Robert. Yes, some of these details take awhile to gather up. Plus, I HATE fact errors, so double-checking takes even longer. I found three in this video last night just before I posted it.
@@distantsignalanother great video.....
I noticed a few things....
I saw those high ended container cars!!!!
Film em while you can .... cause they're the last gas of the old intermodal world....soon they go the way of the front runners and the F89Fs...!!!
And I noticed that EMP got out of the container biz ..lot of patched out ones.....and less foreign containers!!
Plus you got the do not hump car and a old Soo Line hopper!!
I'm glad cause I have a soft spot for fallen roads (my home one was Mo pac!!)
Plus I can't wait for you to see the heritage CSX ones especially the SCL/LN one!!
thanks for the videos and you are...
THE OFFICIAL VOICE OF MODERN RAIL FANNING!!!
Really enjoyed this one. Because it illustrates the scale of commerce in the SE and Florida, and for the foody tip, I posted this link to my fb page. I'll plan to visit the museum and Pammie's soon.
I'm a former CSX yard, road, and yard master in Savannah, GA. I really enjoy watching your videos. Brings back memories.
No one asked for a life story
@@reddog1015 What is THAT supposed to mean ? ?
@@bryanphelan1104 how do you explain something so simple to a kindergartener. No one asked for a life story
Don't be a hater. Most railfans are former railroad employees. I still like Danny's videos as well. I'm a 44 year conductor and yardmaster. Great video.
@@walterrogers359 don’t remember anyone asking for your input
Love the overhead drone shots !
Rode the I02523 from Bedford Park to Nashville recently 😊
Great day when Danny uploads a new video!!
Hi Danny!
I am only just catching up with some of your videos as during Christmas I was in hospital, awaiting an operation for a quadruple arterial bypass graft! That took place on 28/12 and I was discharged from hospital on 2nd Jan.
Much recovered now (April, ‘24) and enjoying watching your excellent videos!
Best wishes from the UK! 🇬🇧
Glad to hear you're doing better, Darren.
Commenting to watch later!!! ⏰ ❤❤❤❤❤
I was "Bell Ringing" for the Salvation Army yesterday, you know you are a railfan when you ring the bell like a locomotive warning bell....lol
Good timetable research - all those way points you mentioned...great shots, super-sized trains!
It’s so fascinating how much loads are different depending on your location. I actually work for a fiber optic company that has a fiber on CSX. I’m always from Columbus,OH to Russell,KY, and occasionally as far as Roanoke, VA. We are still dominated here by coal. Everyone has intermodal and standard box service. I guess I should start my own channel because I’m all over the rails and have clearance to be even on service roads in rural areas. Love your channel.its actually awesome to be a railfan that has license to be all along the rails and uninhibited access to yards. Best retirement job ever! Even have seen the CSX president’s train a couple times and once a year get to highrail my route with a CSX road master. My company also does all new generators for NS along its entire area. Actually, we are going to build the training center for NS like the one CSX has in Jacksonville. It’s so awesome to do this job and be a rail fan!!!
Well thank you Danny! As a New Years resolution for you how about joining Johnathan a few times this year, some of his best shows is when you are on! Because your a scanner guy also it would be great to see you on both shows! 😉 🤞🚂
That's an excellent idea, Jim. I hope to meet up with Jonathan this year and do some real railfanning with him!
Hello Danny, I really enjoyed your presentation at the Central Florida Railroad Museum! Meeting you was a Rail Great time! You are a Blessing to Rail fans 🙏 THANKS Ted Czupka (Host & Friend) Origin- ROCK ISLAND, Illinois
It's always a good day when a DS video shows up.
One of the best produced railfan channels on RUclips...
Hey Danny, I've been a fan of the channel since like 2018 or 2019 and man you never disappoint. Great videos and I look back at your older videos and despite them being fuzzy, they're still great to watch. I also love railroading in the south! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 😀🎄🎆
Thanks danny
me and my mom love your videos, as you remind her of her dad, who passed away in 2018. she was joking that we could railfan with you lol.
Well thank you and your mom!
Nice catch of the Spirit Unit @ 4:29 & 10:34
I love Danny's videos. in Fact, I actually sent Danny a email asking about a Question I still have about the Difference between AC Traction Motors and DC and how well the Different Traction Motors work.
Hey Danny , hope you and yours had a wonderful Christmas season. Thank you for all your wonderful videos an sharing your love of trains with all of Us out here in YT land this past year. Here's to many more years of you sharing with Us , cheers Danny , all the best to you an all your fans in 2024.
When I see a long container train like that, it must be some amazing job to unload and unpack the cargo to get it to their final desitination.
Fascinating how operating procedures differ from this side of the Atlantic. Anything over 775M and the eyebrows raise.
I can see why Wildwood is a popular spot for railfanning! Thanks for that stop on your way home Danny. Great video as always.
Earnest Excellent Enterprising Extraordinary Emerging Evolving Endeavor. Hearty Greetings from Hyderabad, India 🌹🤝
16:43 my favorite part of this video
Great catch @16:12 when the headlights and ditchlights came on 7232! Don't see that sort of action caught often.
Dan "The Man," i totally understand peak season. We are doing peak season flying air cargo. Be safe out there and Merry Christmas.
Man thanks, MrGoodnPlenty! Safe trips in those skies.
12:19 Seeing young railfans like him are always adorable ❤
It’s a good day when Danny releases a new video!
The only peak season train that I see on the Erie West Sub, is I019 (Worcester MA to Bedford Park IL, Tue-Sat)
Another great post. Thanks.
i so do love your videoa keep them comming.
The Legend is BACK
hello Danny's & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool thanks Danny's Thanks Friends Randy & Merry Christmas & Happy New Year's Thanks Danny's & The Best in New Year's 2024 Thanks Danny's Friends Randy
FYI: had a car get wrecked by an AMTRAC running 78: Dunn Ave in Dinsmore. Driver went around crossing arms. He lived, but was in serious condition. JSO will be ticketing him. Merry Christmas Danny!
Must be one seriously experienced and almost brutally efficient container stacker operator if they can move containers between those yard hostlers moving these container chassis and the waiting trains or vice versa in just 80 seconds!
Please a video on railroad flashlights and lanterns.
I love your voice! It's very calming, and as someone who lives in the UK, it's great to see some American trains!
You have enlightened me on the great railfan attractions of central Florida! Thanks!
I really liked this video because you pointed out more museums. I also appreciated the graphic of the Duval rail lines.
Thanks Danny need another Meeting of the Giants
I remember when Taft had their intermodal yard in operation in the late 80's early 90's.
Yes, moving the intermodal to Winter Haven is what lost CSX the UPS business in Orlando.
Great video Danny!
Hi very nice very enjoyed it
The best railroad videos on the platform Danny, bar none. All the very best to you and your family for an amazing 2024! I'm looking forward to every minute of new content you put together. - Bob (Toronto Canada)
Hey Danny, if you ever wanna see alot of action you should come up here to the NS Chicago Line in Waterloo, IN. You will never catch a break in the action. Typically about 70-75 trains a day. I spent 8 hours on the Chicago Line and caught 23 trains. Or the busy CSX Garrett Sub. Deshler is your best spot seeing usually 50-55 trains a day. If you ever do come up to Waterloo, IN let me know. I am really familiar with the symbols. Also in Waterloo there is a pizza place amd they also have a hotel.
Hi again! My dad said you have the perfect narrator voice. We watch your videos together, hes paralyzed. Take care Danny!
Great video Danny merry christmas
Add that Central Florida RHS Museum to the list of places to visit next time we're in the area. It reminds me of the time my wife and I went just driving around , and we went to a small town near where we live called Bulls Gap, TN, and completely by accident stumbled upon a Southern Railway Museum that I had no idea existed. It was very close to the NS Main and may be an old depot itself from the SR days. Lots of old artifacts, couple of very nice model railroad layouts, and more. I even showed the guys there the photo of SR 4501 at Bulls Gap from the documentary you narrated "And Then There Was 1" several years back. That documentary reawakened the long-dormant railfan in me and led me to rediscover my love of railroading, especially steam railroading. Hope you and yours (and other fans of the channel) have a Merry Christmas.
1:36 the container was open.
This has certainly introduced me to a number of shipping companies I've never heard of before. Just seeing how many different operations are coming together on these individual trains reminds me of why I find logistics to be so fascinating.
Great to see you again, Danny!
Thank you for another great video. Have a Merry Christmas.
Loved the video and the history that you furnish with it. Wonderful job , keep it up you reach lot of us older want-a-be's.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Danny
I consider this my Christmas present from you. Many thanks to you Danny.
Mr. Harmon… tremendous as always👍🏻❤️🚂 I always anxiously await a new DS👍🏻
Another amazing video. Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅
Great content, fantastic video, and i love your clear, professional voice.
1:36 Did you see that one container was open on top of the stack
Lots of information nice. 🍔🚂 Always on the move. Thanks alan
Im a big rail fan and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a safe New year
Been busy with work and in the middle of a move. Thanks for the gift of another Distant Signal video so I can get a little fix. Making short term plans for Folkston and longer term plans for Central Florida. Always a treat to watch.
Christmas came early with another Distant Signal video with Danny.
Love the videos Buddy
Danny, you should do a Florida rail fan’ hot spots to eat! I know I would truly appreciate that.
having the crews meet each other and swap their equipment allows the employees to not have to be away from home as much as they would if they had to travel the entire route and perhaps have to stay overnight before returning the next day, good for morale
Thanks bud I enjoyed this one Danny. Merry Christmas
Amazing video per usual!! Cool to see my silly face on the channel again 😂
Danny, another excellent, informative video. After years of watching your videos I find myself taking for granted your excellent narration of what we're seeing. I can only imagine the time it takes to not only research all these trains but to produce the video with the narration so perfectly integrated. Thank you again for all you do to bring your love of railfanning to the rest of us. Happy Holidays!
All those trains helping out Santa 🎅
Another great video from #1 Danny !!!
Merry Christmas to you and yours sir.
Again thank you for your videos.. enjoy them very much..🙏😊
Really nice one! Thanks.
