- Ohio Senator JD Vance has hit out at US Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris' “open border” policy during the CBS News Vice Presidential Debate.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Vance faced off in their first and likely only vice-presidential debate ahead of the US election on Tuesday.
Vance labelled the Vice President a failed “border czar” during the debate.
“Three years Kamala Harris went out bragging that she was going to undo Donald Trump's border policy. She did exactly that," Vance said.
“We had a record number of illegal crossings. We had a record number of fentanyl coming into our country.
“Now that she's running for president or a few months before, she says that somehow she got religion and cared a lot about a piece of legislation.
"It is a disgrace.”

Since when is the VP a “Border Czar” that’s one thing I keep hearing time and time again which just isn’t factually accurate. The VP is not in charge of the border and that doesn’t fall within their responsibilities, that would be the Secretary of Homeland Security. It’s baffling that many don’t seem to get that.
