Well, in most planes, their fuel is stored in the wings, and when it touched the ground, it would combust and due to it fuel tank locations it would quickly reach the fuselage hence why the most of plane combusted when the wing touched the ground before the rest of the plane hit it, or at least that's what should in theory happens in a real situation, which this is mimicking.
