Thank you an you're welcome mamaofthewild1s

Good luck! I started some of my native plants this past week. Royal Catchfly, Prairie Smoke, and a few others. Waiting a little longer to do my native grasses this year.
I could easily start the grasses in a month as well, but I'm a bit antsy 😉 -- the prairie dropseed I believe will need the cold stretch. It will be interesting to see how that works out. What zone are you in? Zone 4a here...
Lots of work. I hope it pays off in the end.
I really enjoy planting so this is a labor of love! I do hope the prairie dropseed germinates better this time though! 🤞🤞🤞
Good luck, hopefully the sand and month of cold germination works!😁
@@drue4574 -- I believe it will -- but at some point, I will be the world expert on germinating Prairie Dropseed! 😉
I love Hollhocks, I say the more the merrier :-D
Thanks Gail. I'm the same way -- even though I'm trying to plant all native flowers and grasses, I have some favorites that I just won't do without 😊
Me too!
enjoyed this. New friend Ruthie
Thank you Ruthie 😁
Thanks for this video! Any idea if prairie dropseed can live up at 7500 feet? I’ve tried in the past with little success, but my methods haven’t been great. Also do you use a surfactant in all your ceilings or is this something that’s needed for prairie dropseed?
Not sure about the altitude. Try rubbing the seeds between pieces of sandpaper. The seeds are very hard, and need the shell nicked or broken to germinate. Then place the seeds between a fold of damp paper towel in a heated place. Good luck, and let me know how they do at that altitude!
I wonder if it would work to run a rolling pin over that bag of seeds to scarify them? It would be easier.
Hi Lisa, It may, but you would need to take care not to crush the seeds.
