Hi Cassie! I just finished the protea pants by paradise patterns and I would suggest that pattern! It does involve a zipper fly and a proper waistband but the instructions are really good, and if you're a visual learner like me, another RUclips Cleo Williams just made a sew along with her pair and it's filled with incredible technique and detail! I would definitely recommend it since they're a classic trouser pant, but I also understand zipper flys and waistbands can be challenging. As for what I am working on now is a pattern test for a fleece jacket! Although I am stuck on wether or not to use a patterned fabric as the lining to tie in both colors (fleece is mauve, binding is black) or just use solid black! Haha gotta start soon to finish it :) I also LOVE that chunky knit hat you've got going! I don't knit (yet?) but chunky yarn really entices me to try it out!
I'm currently knitting my first ever sweater! I knitted a scarf when I was in school ~10 years ago. It's a wonderful mustard tweed. I'm also going to work on the Clyde pants! :)
I'm a newish sewist, started a Zadie jumpsuit and hopefully will get to a crop tee and trouser matching set in Ankara fabric soon! really enjoyed this and love the "unicorn" Swatch
I just made the All Well studio pants pattern which were quite simple and quick to make and I found fit nicely. I made them with the flat front so they wouldn't be too casual looking and I think you can really change up the style based on what material you choose. Bonus, the pattern is pwyc, so super accessible
I just made two shorts and two pants of the Pietra Pants pattern! I really like the pockets and the seam down the front. Since the front doesn’t have a waistband, they feel more comfortable to sit in than any other pants I’ve made.
Hey Cassie, I would recommend the "Liv Pants" pattern by Mood (it's free!). They are high-waisted wide-legged pants, I specially like the front pleats that run from waist to hem. I made mine in a dark grey suiting fabric and I wear them with t-shirts and converse high tops. For an easier pattern, the "Florence Pants" by Elizabeth Suzann are my go to, I added inseam pockets though!
I literally bought the Nikko pattern bc of you and it is such a great and versatile pattern! Can't wait to see the new ones you sew up. I am currently procrastinating on a coat haha. The Protea Trousers are on my list for pants, they are classic-looking and have lots of opportunity to play with different kinds of fabric.
Pants patternI love is the Lander Pant by True Bias, Seeing your knitting makes me want to knit - which I never have done. What is the first thing and would you suggest a youtube tutorial or by a book?
I'm enjoying the return of these videos!! The Liam Patterns Benton Pants might be what you're looking for?

I’ve been wanting to make these!
Living in Patsy Overalls (modified to have flat straps)

I own the Pietra so I really should try to make another pair !

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll have to check them both out ☺️

I have the Lander Pant on my sewing wishlist for this year. It looks amazing.
