    I am facing a problem in ansys 20.in ansys 20,mesh details tab doesn't look same as this video,ins sizing, it showing options like adaptive sizing,nesh defeaturing etc.What shoul I do.By the way great content.

    Hey Ninja, is it a new geometry you made from 0.02 until 0.31? can you help me with the video?

  • @zepline454
    @zepline454 4 года назад +1

    First, thanks you for your tutorials ninja they're clear and really helpfull.
    Unfortunately I still have a problem when it comes to the sizing. When you want to size the meshing, you just insert a sizing, select the geometrie then you choose the type "body of influence" but when I do in that way I do not have the option "Body of influence" to get it I need to first choose the type then the geometry. But when I do that way the case "Body of influence" stay in yellow and in the tree "meshing" and "body sizing" keep having a "?" instead of the green sign like you... Do you have any explanation or solution ?
    Btw I'm using a student free version pretty limitated, like only 512K cells for a meshing.

    • @ansys_cfd
      @ansys_cfd  4 года назад +1

      Hi friend;
      To use the body of influence option you must have your main body and a second body that will only serve to mesh using this option. Verify that both bodies have been created correctly. On the other hand I think that in this tutorial the mesh number exceeds 512k (from the student version). If the number of mesh elements exceeds that number I ask you to do the following; skip the step of the body of influence (use a single body) and develop the simulation.
      Soon I will make tutorials using Student version only.
      Best regards

    Can you explain similar one for a flow past a cylinder where the mesh is structured near the cylinder wake as well as top , bottom and upstream?

  • @seajay9681
    @seajay9681 5 лет назад +1

    Do you have any guides on setting mesh sizes for a certain? Considering models used etc. for fluent. And does meshing size affect that much the results like Cl and Cd in fluent ?? For example for a simple NACA0018 i get a Cl of 9 which is wrong.

    • @ansys_cfd
      @ansys_cfd  5 лет назад +1

      Hi friend;
      You need to make a sensitivity analysis of the mesh to determine the optimal size, and yes, a very large mesh can give errors in the results.

      Also, it depends on your flow conditions. You also need to consider farfield effects for lifting bodies. There are publications which actually indicate there are farfield effects upto 100 times chord length. Obviously that is unreasonably for 2D simulation so we would have to live with some farfield effects or apply correction factors if possible.

    Why did you split the lines of the airfoil ? And is having line bodies of the airfoil necessary for the simulation ? I'm only importing solidworks part into ansys which is only a planar surface. Thank you

      Hi friend,
      I use split for create two regions extrados and intrados, however you can use one only. Regards

    i could not follow with you with the mesh steps.. the new version has different options and it tells me to put a circle radius in there... and i cant find the option for max mesh size... please tell me what to do and how to understand what im doing..

    Hello sir you videos are very helpful. I wanted to know how to give boundary conditions for incompressible flow over an airfoil in (1)ground effect condition and (2) free stream condition(normal flight condition) with an inlet velocity of 30m/s ? I have selected naca 2412 airfoil for simulation.

    • @ansys_cfd
      @ansys_cfd  6 лет назад +1

      Hi friend, Thanks
      For ground effect, you need to create a wall under of airfoil, for stream condition change the wall for an opening.

    Can this method work with an epplwe 423 aerofoil which is a reallyundercambered airfoil and also if I have an aerofoil with dimple will it work

    • @ansys_cfd
      @ansys_cfd  6 лет назад +1

      Hi friend, I think that yes, the important is the turbulence model (separation of the boundary layer) and calculate the yplus. Regards

    what skewness do you have at the trailing edge with this method ?

    • @ansys_cfd
      @ansys_cfd  10 лет назад +3

      At the edge of the airfoil, the "skewness" varies from 0 to 0.55.

      Ivanrips i am trying to simulate the same wing but with a chord of 0.225m. however, at the trailing edge i have really skewed ellements and fluent will not let me to solve. if the chord is smaller do i need to pick different numbers in terms of edge sizing, body sizing, inflation thickness to get the same low skewness level as yours ?

    some edge or face size controls have smaller values than default defeaturing tolerance. mesh entities generated with these size controls will not be defeatured. why this message is shown.

    • @ansys_cfd
      @ansys_cfd  6 лет назад +2

      Hi friend, you can change these values. Remember that is more important to validate the results that mesh message. if the simulation converges you can skip the message or change the values. Regards

    When I open the Meshing, inside the Model, the Geometry and Line Body appear with an interrogation instead of a check. Do you know why??? In addition, the Model Type is Beam, but it is underlined yellow.

    • @ansys_cfd
      @ansys_cfd  6 лет назад +1

      Hi, It is because there is an error, you need to review again your geometry. All parts of your geometry should be checked. Regards
