Cliff wrote that harmony and I think Lars came up with the idea of a pounding intro. This is why Metallica works - everyone contributes and hence, gems are created.
Everyone contributed until 1986 and after that only 3/4th of the band contributed .
Dave wrote the melody. Lars came up with the harmony.
@@CaptainRudy4021 Dave wrote some of the riffs in that song. Still a solid contribution. Kirk stated Cliff came up with the harmonized section
@@kartikchandrasekhar7393 cliff wrote most of the harmonies on the record, but Dave is on record saying that lars came up with the harmonies in the intro to rtl.
I'm pretty sure Lars wrote the harmony...I can remember being really surprised when I heard that.
This is why I say Ride The Lightning is one of my two favorite Metallica songs.
oh ok cool
What's the other one?

Now wonder they called it "Finger the wall outlet"
"Ride the full suite of voltage offerings courtesy your local electric company"
One might say, "It's goddamn electric"! 🗲🤘
Aww man, I was getting into it. I wish you’d cover the whole song
Can relate to that.
This intro is Lars' idea. And because of SUCH things I won't ever hate on Lars.
I still remember the first time I heard this intro. It was powerlifting in high school, late 90s. I used to call them Craptallica, cuz I only knew Sandman and Memory Remains. Wasn't a fan of those as a teen. Then my coach put on RTL. Fight Fire blew me away, but this intro was a revelation. I'd never heard anything like it, so heavy, intense, badass. That *thump*- just incredible. My friends were like, "Dude! THIS is why we've been telling you Metallica is awesome!" Went home, immediately bought the CD, and Metallica has been my favorite band since. Even grew to like (and love) Black and Load era Met. Craptallica no more.
Man I love this intro, the pounding drums with the harmonies turning into a massive riff, coupled with the cold dry electric sound of this album.. GETS ME PUMPED UP
One of the best intros ever written. U get that electricity feel to it
Good god!
That stance 💀💀💀💀💀
Control The Thunder 😂
Ride The Lightning!
Hi. Have you tried picking up a snare sample in any known drum sampler and FX chain to get the same sound as on AJFA? I tried for a week but didn't get anything. Have you thought about creating a tutorial or maybe you already have it on patreon?
🤘⚡️
such a bombastic and iconic intro in the same album as the calm Fade To Black. Metallica was flexing with their second album at their early age of 20's and creating a timeless masterpiece
Hey SoM, Are u ok bro? I miss your reworks 😢
My favourite album ✌️✌️🤘🤘🤘
I see you cleaned up the intro. ^^
I really want to see what if sleepwalk my life away was on the black album
Ride the lightning for me its their best work, i mean you got fight fire with fire, ride the lightning, call of ktulu, creeping death, fade to black.... Its incredible
Best song on their best album!
If this album would be released now for first time...a new wave of heavy metal would arise globally🤘
for real
Are in Montreal this weekend?
Yup
Welcome to where time stands still

I’m shocked.

WAKE UP!
GRAB A BEISH AND PUT A LITTLE MAKEUP!
So... Blackened riff is... black?
you can't just not play the rest of the song like that 😥
Lars wrote that.
And Cliff wrote the harmony intro.
@@Spikedmonster60 Where'd you read this? I think Lars came up with the melody and then Cliff/rest turned it into the intro with their instruments.
@sadsadasdsadasdsadas Because I know that Cliff Burton was really good at harmonies. I think that's from Andriy vasylenko's video.
@@Spikedmonster60 Well that's not enough for me to believe, even Mustaine said that Lars wrote the intro to Ride the Lightning.
@@sadsadasdsadasdsadas That's also true.
The black album was the last album that Metallica did that was any good. Sorry but modern Metallica stinks. I gladly saw them in concert when And justice for all came out. If they were playing a free concert less than a mile from home now, i would stay home. James has either lost his ability to sing or just doesn't try anymore.
