I really like making these videos. What would you like to know about surgery or my health journey?

Thanks for the info! My surgery is scheduled for next month! Excited and nervous at the same time!!!

You would be crazy to not be nervous. It is after-all major surgery. Just keep in mind that your surgeon probably does dozens of these each month and you are not special (in the case of being a surgical patient, no being special is a good thing).

My daughter is a developmentally delayed young adult who will be having gastric bypass in July, because of digestive abnormalities from a birth defect. She lives with us. I want to provide meals that she will enjoy, that are high protein low sugar, and that the rest of the family will eat too. Sadly, we currently eat the standard American diet and it's a huge jump. I have a huge sweet tooth, Dad is flexible to a point, and little brother is a typical 10 year old with braces. I also work full time. I feel overwhelmed. Any advice?

Hi I’m almost 40bmi and sleep apnea, I have bcbsil, trough my hub work. Did you have a similar insurance? I’m wondering how long is it going to take to be approved.

Hey there! I gained 5 pounds to get to 40BMI. I didn’t have a comorbidity so I had to qualify with BMI alone. I have BCBS Illinois and my husband’s work has an obesity program. What company does your insurance work for? If COVID didn’t happen I would have had surgery within 4 months of initial contact. The thing that takes the longest is the individual appointments you have to cross off the list. My biggest tip is to make sure you are truly mentally prepared.

My BMI is 44 and I do have co morbidities after my first appointment they explained I can have surgery as soon as I complete the appointments they scheduled. You may want to call your husband's insurance and ask if they cover weight loss surgery, that is what I did. I hope all goes well for you.

Congratulations on your success! My advice is to stay consistent in whatever you choose and don’t get discouraged when you stall. How you fuel your body is essential to your success but don’t forget to add movement to your routine. Adding exercise will allow you to maintain an active lifestyle.

Plus I do struggle from time to time

We all struggle. It’s what you do after you struggle that matters. Do you throw your hands in the air and give up or do you keep going and get right back into your routine?

I don't give up keep telling myself and my husband I have faith and I do have faith in myself and I will not give up like I have before.
