Greetings! When preparing the garden, I mixed in several bags of store-bought garden soil and compost. I typically watered the sunflower plants every other day (unless there was rain), and applied liquid fertilizer (diluted in water as directed) about once every two weeks.
Greetings and thanks for stopping by! I appreciate the many positive comments for this garden video. I've also posted a new Giant Sunflowers Update for 2019: ruclips.net/video/osWPBhz84x4/видео.html
Did you ever have to stake your sunflowers? I have never had the mammoth kind and I don;t know if they are strong enough to support themselves or if they need some help. Had a lot of storms this year too with lots of wind, so good thing I didn't plant them this year.
Surprisingly, I didn't have to stake these specific sunflower plants. There were some windy days when it looked like the plants might be damaged, but they turned out to be very resilient. Ultimately, the stalks at full height were strong enough for the neighborhood squirrels to climb to pick seeds from the sunflowers! ruclips.net/video/ZOl_jnvtopI/видео.html
