Bach + nyckelharpa = himmelskt!!! Att just ni två fantastiska musiker tolkar denna musik tillsammans är verkligen grädden på moset! Vilken drömkombination!
Eryk Rydvall and Torbjön Näsbom: thank you for posting this video on RUclips so that more people can discover and enjoy the amazing sound(s) of these instruments and your interpretation that render a profound version of this sublime concerto! 👏 👏 👏
First time I heard one was years ago outside of Santa Fe N.M. "old Jack's Flea Market" at the entrance was a young lady setting on the ground and just busking away song after song. I hung around for a while as I play several string instruments and talked with her about her nyckelharpa, damn interesting discussion that day. I listen to them here on my computer and often wish I was young and had started back that first day to learn how to play one. Sadly I only play and I'm not bragging as I'm old and have time to practice,, mandolin, violin/viola, Irish Bouzouki, tenor guitar, banjo and I own two saws that I make noise on. Not bad for 81 and still healthy...thank you God! If I thought I had the time left I'd buy one but my neighbors would hate me and I don't believe I have the time left to learn and play in public, sharing music is what it is all about!
Superb and so beautiful. I'd love to see and hear much more of this instrument. I keep returning to listen to this. It sounds like the music was written expressly for the nyckelharpa, they marry so well. I hope you do more videos for us.
Great at high frequencies! !! This instrument, Bach's song, and above all, your performance is really wonderful 💝 Bach's song resonates with the universe! 💝Japan
HELLO WORLD EVERYONE MY NAME IS LEMAY NELSON I WAS RAISED ON THE CLASSICS ALL MY LIFE I'M NOT NEW AGE BUT I AM TRANSSEXUAL FEMALE I HAD THE BLESSING TO HAVE A TEACHER WHO WAS A DISIPLANARYUN AND I HAVE VERY FOND MEMORIES OF PLAYING FOR HIM HIS NAME WAS FRED LAWSON AND HE PLAYED FOR THE SACROMENTO symphony california I am now 75 years young I now play the bazucky and Irish hand drum and conga and Quinto I love your music because I'm Swedish and germon peace to all
Incredible! I'm almost embarrassed to say, I didn't know this instrument existed. A bowed instrument with keys for frets! Amazing and beautiful work. Thank you!
@@gregmonks9708 Ah, I see! Interesting. I write Baroque music. Nothing too professional or spectacular; I'm more of an amateur, really. You can check some of it out, if you're interested (:
@@MitchBoucherComposer I'm always interested in new music. I'm more of a gebrauchmusik (music for use) type myself. I write several types of music myself, including classical ragtime, or ragtime using classical devices.
Absolutely Marvellous !. A brilliant performance !. And although, it doesn’t include the “improvised “ feel of the Paris 1937 recordings of Stéphane Grappelli, , Eddie South, And Django Reinhardt, it to me, has the same irresistible “Swing” sound. These are masters, at their craft ! . Wonderful !. Absolutely Faultless !. Greetings from Scotland 🏴 x x x .
Gorgeous playing! Loved it! The nyckelharpa sounds fantastic on this piece! Maybe there are other classical pieces that you could record & post on youtube, if you continue in this vein? Sure we'll love what ever you post. From the Silicon Valley (CA).
Just superb! You did Bach justice! Gee whiz, I'd like to hear it with cello and/or bass also, and the other movements! Great job, were you reading, or memorized?
is the reverb from the sympathetic strings? This is very Baroque in sound and style. No vibrato so the line has a chance to naturally decay without obscuring the other voice. O too would like to hear more .....Vivaldi would be very interesting. Cheers
It’s a bit unclear. The earliest paintings of the instrument are from the early 1400s, and they show that it was played not only in Sweden but also in Italy, Germany and Denmark, but it became less popular and for centuries it was only played in the Uppland region of Sweden. Now it is spreading again because it became popular among Swedish folk musicians in the 1970s, so it’s in a sense a “revived” instrument. It was probably not originally invented in Sweden, more likely Germany, but it is now considered a “traditional” Swedish instrument, in a way maybe a bit similar to bagpipes which (paintings show) were once a very popular instrument all over Europe but are now strongly associated with Scotland because they are the only ones who didn’t stop playing it.

I heard them in church two days ago, playing this double consert, together with a viola and a cello. It was of course a wonderful experience!
Tack!
You are blessed, indeed!
Tack!
Nyckelharpa! Who Knew?
I played Violin for 40 years and have never seen one of these much less heard Bach played on one...
Absolutely intoxicating!
Thank you
Little Known Factes re: JSB; the “ missing yeares” were actually spent in Sweden learning Nyckelharpa.
Scandinavian instruments and baroque pieces. Heaven.
Одно из моих любимых произведений И.С. Баха, и на таких необычных музыкальных инструментах. Замечательно! Отличное выступление!
You are simply made for each other.
Nyckelharpa, the musicians and Bach.
I've never heard classical music played on one of these, let alone two of them. Liked, subscribed, shared!
thanks
so beautiful!!! perfect instrument for baroque!
thank you
This is the first RUclips video I've seen in months that has not a single "thumbs down". How could anyone not like this?

Wunderschön. Der Nyckelharpa sollte mehr Beachtung geschenkt werden. Ein tolles Instrument.

Very good. I think Classical music, especially that of Bach brings out the instrument. Have subscribed.

I think it's spelled Bouzouki not bazucky. Trying not to be a smart ass just happen to own and play one that's all, please no offense.
Incredible! I'm almost embarrassed to say, I didn't know this instrument existed. A bowed instrument with keys for frets! Amazing and beautiful work. Thank you!
Thank you!!!
Don't be embarrassed! It's not that common outside of Sweden, and not many people are playing classical on it!
Aaron, me too and I thought I knew every instrument that existed and they know how to get every ounce from them
Wow. Excellent!
So beautiful! From Brooklyn, NY! Genevieve
Thank you Bach, Eric and friend!!!! Happy New Year 2024!!
this is awesome!!!
Never heard of this instrument before but I'm glad to have found this. Great performance! It is really well suited for baroque music
That was beautiful!!!!
Fantastic- love your music. From--Your friends in Florida
Beautiful! I have really enjoyed this a lot. I'm sure Bach would have too!
It dates back at least 1350, so chances are Bach may have heard them.
@@gregmonks9708 Ah, interesting! I didn't know this.
@@MitchBoucherComposer The hurdy gurdy too. They both date from around the same period. BTW- what kind of music do you compose, Mitch?

Like 10 Violins?
And a clockwork
Those Nyckelharpas are tuned like the Violin (they're called Fiddleharpas) so they sound more like a Violin with Keys.
Oooh!!!....that’s wonderful!.....thank you. 🥰🥰🥰
Wow!!! Do cool!!! Amazing!
Never heard of it before and now I want one!
Breathtaking beautiful 🙏🏽🕊❤🎶❤

Супер! Фантастичне виконання цього шедевру! Ваша майстерність вражає! Привіт з України!
Was this done with no reverb added in post production? If so 😮
I think it is only the built in reverb
