Easy, beginner prepper tips: 1. Prepare your family for a week's Winter backpacking trip and you'll be prepared for ANYTHING. You'll have EVERYTHING you need in a small package. 2. Stock your pantry. There are plenty of non perishable goods to stock for a few days: tea bags, honey, rice, Cream of Wheat, Freeze dried food, canned food, etc.. that you can put away for years and not worry about it spoiling. As the expiration dates near, you can either A. Donate it to your local food bank or B. Eat it.
Snow is really fun....for about 5 minutes. After that you realize how cold, slippery and dangerous it truly is. We had a polar vortex hit us down here in Tasmania last year that came up from Antarctica. It dropped the most snow on our town in 80 years and did massive damage to my property, breaking trees and downing power lined. Scary stuff.
Up in Missouri we were all getting a kick out of the insanity when the vortex hit. 22F is pretty average here. We always have a stockpile of aged wood, plus dry goods just in case. Once it gets cold, drip your faucets, wrap the pipes, etc. Have cash on hand and a few gas cans filled as well. I laughed way too hard at seeing whoever that was pouring boiling water on the ice; that's a joke around here on how to de-ice a driveway because of its absurdity. lol
Seemed like a small movie. All others have already commented what i wanted to say. So just saying that I loved the video and sorry for the difficult times you had to go through. We , in Dubai are nowhere near that kind of weather and have no idea about the hardships you went through and saw in the video. Admire your efforts to remain positive. I hope your Mom gets better soon.
I actually watched this twice for the the sense of family. I am not close with my family. It’s not possible to be and I got such lovely feelings from your family. I also lost my last kitty and I miss my cats very much. As awful as this experience had to have been, it still made me happy. I hope your lovely mother was ok.
❤️ She did crack a rib and it took a long time to heal but she’s ok. Dad got the proper cables and tested them so they are officially ready for the next power outage. I’m sorry about your cat, if you find yourself missing their purrs I have a little RUclips channel dedicated to relaxing and cozy cat comfort: ruclips.net/video/vf-cXpoE-dM/видео.html
@@ClaireTripsI will check that out. I miss my kitties but am not ready to rescue more yet. One thing that really bothered me when you guys went through this was all the people saying that it was just a little snow. How ridiculous. I have lived in Alaska and Montana and it gets brutal but we have plows, de icing fluid, fireplace backup, and ELECTRICITY. I cannot fathom being in a 50 degree house for that long. That’s terrifying and I felt so bad for all the suffering. I’m glad you were all ok and got through it with so much grace. Appalling that your poor mom just had to live with a cracked rib because everything had collapsed.
"This was such an amazing video, it could win an Academy Award. Laura and I enjoyed it so much. So sorry to hear about you falling. We would really like to visit when you are feeling better. ... We faired much better with lights only going out 3 times for about seven hours each. Much to catch up on. Please tell Claire what an incredibly talented young woman she is. Love, Jim and Laura"
1975 I went through Texas on I-10 on my way back to college from Florida to Utah after new years. The ice storm and snow was brutal. After spinning out once (scary! but no damage and nice people pushed me back on the freeway.) I crept back to college and never went home for Christmas vacation again for the next three years but spent it with great local friends.
Hope your mom feels better! I’m a fellow Texan. It’s been a rough week, but we all got through it and will be fineee. I love this video! Please make more personal vlogs
I live in Dallas and went through this. I lived in Presquisle Maine which is on the border of Canada. We could see the northern lights. It never stopped snowing and was below 0 most the time. The thing with Dallas is that it mainly ices rather than snowing. Absolutely no tracks on on the roads. Dallas is not equipped.
Your dad is amazing. I hade a generator because we lose power all the time but we can’t figure out how to make it work. I would pay him to ‘irresponsibly’ hook up my generator.
Claire, your parents are such lovely people. I want to see more of them on your next videos, PLEASE!!! Since you were asking what content to film in your previous vlog, why not feature more of your parents to make some lifestyle vlogs?
Claire!! You are alive!!! Hey so... you do some of the best travel videos I have ever seen on RUclips... Did you know that it is now legal to film and monetize content from the national parks without a permit??? I really think you should capitalize on this! I predict a huge influx of videos this year. The law just got thrown out in January requiring permits (outdated from the TV age). Just a thought. I have seen a lot of travel channels devastated by "the situation". Just some thoughts :) I am planning on going to the Tetons and Jellystone this year.
The MacGyver your Dad did, may not have worked when you filmed the video. But, based on watching the whole video, it seems your Dad would have found a way to make it work if necessary. This was an awesome video!
The plan he had would have worked if he had just went directly to a cable rather than a plug that needed to attach to *another* cable. He would have had it up and running within another hour of rewiring hahah
Sorry, I'm new to the channel, but are there any brazilians in your family? Cuz I screamed when the Guaraná soda, the cheese bread and the popcorn pan showed up! Such characteristic things. Either way, awesome video! Love from Brazil!!!!!

Haven't watched Claire's video for a while. Wow, Claire, you made this one like a best Hollywood movie! Glad that you have had fun and been safe there! Keep posting.
we have generator we only turn the main switch and plug the generator at the socket or any socket that is connected to the whole house and yes generator make that smoke if its cold outside
My dad bought every possible cable we would need and a hookup that will allow the generator to run off of natural gas. Needless to say, we are going to test all the gear when it arrives to make sure it’s good to go 😂
今天我从bilibili看了你在张家界搞丢无人机和镜头的视频,真的是又可爱又好笑,你在长城的视频做的很棒,我很喜欢,期待你能来我的家乡天津玩,并制作一期节目。(Today, I watched the video of you losing the drone and lens in Zhangjiajie from Bilibili, which was really cute and funny. The video you made on the Great Wall was great, I like it very much, and I hope you can come to my hometown Tianjin to play and make a program.)
How on earth Texas could get this cold? I guess some Texas people never experience snow in their whole life, only watch snow on TV or in movies. That is why you guys get so hilarious and look funny in snow.
Claire, you should spend morre time on how the youtube algorithm works. Follow your channel for more than a year, such amazing works. I will definitely rank you on my top ten youtubers list. But why why? still less than 100k subscribers...

First time watching your videos , you have nice parents, especially your dad seems a really nice person.
I live here and went through this too. No power for 3 days. We burned our fence in the fireplace lol.
Glad you all survived! The production quality of your videos is just fantastic! I love it!

Hey you are from Houston?!? I just survived the snow. I work downtown and live in Katy. Stay safe and warm.
Yup! Glad you made it through ok!
Me and my husband are buying our first house I'm definitely going to invest in solar panels for our own home can't count on the city grid
Solar panels, huge batteries and inverter system. Panels by themselves would just give you power during certain hours.
First video I saw, new subscribed.
gotta bust out the table/kosher salt for that driveway ice.
Yes, you're right, I will store salt for next time!

A nice "travel video" right outside your frontdoor.
Sure, but the must important question is if you actually learned anything and what would you do differently for the next time.

Senator Cruz abandoned you guys and went to Cancun. Texas needs democrats
