These are the type of bands that make music worth listening to. They make songs about things that matter in the world. I respect this song, and the 48 people that dislike this probably don't even know the meaning of the song.
First heard this song while I was in Iraq in '08. Long story short, this song hit me like a ton of bricks at the time and the whole album still kinda does.

I heard this song a few years ago and my thought was.. man how sad is it, that there is a song about a soldier leaving his family to go to war. And hopfully come back healty to his family. At the time it was so present.... and now a few years later... it still is.... It makes me very sad.... Everytime the same old thing , just in an other costume...

This song makes me think of a friend of mine whose parents, mom and dad, are serving the country. He must feel happy as hell when they come back home alive and terrified when they leave. I have a shitload of respect for the soldiers who gave their lives for a better world.

this is the first time i heard this song everytime it came on the ipod i skipped it until i found out what it meant. and im in the same boat as you. my brother just went out and as kids we always would fight each other and tell on each other and now that im 29 and hes 26 we are the best of friends. and like you said im scared shitless everytime he leaves but yet im soo proud. thanks for posting your comment.

this is a very hard video and song for me to watch and hear.... my b/f and the father of our soon to be son or daughter is currently serving in iraq..... but i am so proud of him for fighting for our country and doing something he wanted! :)
the sign the girl held up that said "my daddy is my hero" was absolutely beautiful. even though im not american and i take no sides on any of the wars going on right now, i think its so important that we all pay tribute to those who are fighting for their own lives and other people's lives right now. i just recently learned about PTSD, how scary it is, and how often it occurs in war veterans. godspeed to all.

I know exactly how you feel. My brother is over there and his wife and baby son (whom he didn't even get to see be born) miss him like crazy. This video almost put me to tears. God bless our troops and bring them back safely! Also, great song! SOTY FTW!
