To this day this is still one of the most impressive live performances I've ever seen. The sheer skill and stamina all these dudes have to constantly run around while still nailing vocals and progressions. That shit is crazy hard.
@@StoryOfTheGearHey! It’s YOU! How has life been treating you?? Best wishes to all of you, I still follow SOTY and I still have Page Avenue in every playlist I listen to. You guys were amazing and our band was from the St Louis area. You guys were kind enough to let us open a few big shows for you back in the 2000s, we greatly appreciated the opportunities! From Creepy Crawl to the Pageant in St Louis, we either played with you or we were in the crowd at every single show. We even got to be in the “Until the Day I Die” video at the Creepy Crawl, so it’s etched in time at one of the best clubs of our generation. Hell yeah great to come across you randomly in a RUclips video. 🤘
Very few bands out there can even approach the level of energy that these guys do while still nailing absolutely every aspect of their music. Will forever respect and love SotY
paul yoda no disrespect to AC/DC or anything, but they definitely don't have this much energy live. Sure Angus runs around the stage and hops on one leg and all of that, but how many backflips and rolls and crazy jump kicky things do they do in their sets? Energywise there isn't much of a comparison...
paul yoda he was talking about the energy of their live performance. And if it would've been about the music quality, neither band is that good from a technical standpoint.
I AM FROM ARGENTINA AND THIS GOLDEN ERA WAS THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE, THIS BAND TOGETHER WITH KORN, LIMP BIZKIT AND DEFTONES MADE MY DAYS SO HAPPY THAT I COULD CRY NOW, NEW METAL WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
Man, a guy from the crowd climbed to the stage, danced with one band member and dived right into the crowd (no pun intended). How I wish live shows were like this now. Pure love and passion
Just heard the news Greg just passed away. Condolences. Cheers for this epic live! Have not seen a single band right now as worthy as the energy of these guys.
Rest In Peace to Greg! He had already left the band before the writing and recording of this debut album that they are playing songs from, and is not present at this live show, He was in the band from their formation in 2000 until 2002. This album came out in 2003. Story Of The Year is forever a Top 5 Band in all Rock History, #1 in Post-Hardcore! Peace.
Despite their skills & everything else, they're the fittest & most energetic band I've ever known. I'll always be a huge fan UNTIL THE DAY I DIE by giving them my respect. 🤟🏻
I remember seeing them so many times when I was a kid they were so entertaining yet would stay on point with their sound! They must've put so many hours into their stage presence and it really shows! Long live story of the year!
These guys were amazing live, the energy and the entertainment factor was always so high. Flipping over each other, I have seen them throw guitars at each other and keep playing... switch instruments and keep playing. One of the best live bands I have seen to this day.
he writes basically all of the melodies for their music. hes by far the most musically gifted member. his name is phillip sneed. hes no longer with the band though
if you like rock , and seen these guys live, its just intense.. incredible performance as musicians, the crowds reactions to the songs... use to listen to these guys in highschool when they were called big blue monkey.. before they were story of the year... saw them live when I was 15, and now im 25, will be 26 in December.. use to listen to them everyday waiting for the bus lol
Andrew Harper fuck yeah not like these days. fuckin concerts sucks kids putting up therw phones recording shits i miss these kind of conerct i miss rock era
Brilliant. Absolutely amazing how they can put on that kind of stage performance and still nail the songs. I mean the harmonies are perfect, even after a barell roll three backflips and a cartwheel.
My senior year I transfered to another school and went from going to hip hop type of parties and to American pie parties holding a cup with liquor listening to alternative rock, lol I didn't like it at first but then I start listening to it these guys ..trapt,Yellowcard 2001-2006 great era
He was actually the other contender to be in Anberlin when they replaced the guitar player during Cities era, but ended up being Christian from Acceptance. yeah Phil was a fan early on.
I wish, I could see a Story of the Year Live Show before I die, with all the songs from Page Avenue Album ... its like seeing the beginning of one of the best Live bands I've even seen on TV and the internet! :) ... sooo proud of you guys!!!! it will be epic and super emotional :/ but all worth it!
I started to listen them back in 2019 (when I was 14) because of the Need for Speed OST "And the hero will drown", and... damn, this is my favorite band. Watching this, I really wish they can do another performance... could be a dream for me, being there. :'D
Do you still remember back when days were longer, dreams were bigger then The weight of the world had not yet landed on the shoulders of a man I thought that time stood still, sheltered, protected They never told me this would end or that the leaves would fall again So take me back, back to better days Cause this time between is wasting me away Take me back, when we were not afraid Cause this time between is wasting me away......
I'm so impressed at how they still play their instruments😂 I don't know how they're getting the right notes while basically doing gymnastics I'm just glad they did Anthem of Our Dying day Seriously my favorite one I'm obsessed with until the day i die and Sidewalks It's so weird how now you actually go online to get everything. I had to buy my copy of their page avenue at hot topic 😂.

AC/DC blows them away and they are in their 60s
paul yoda ACDC blows everyone away.

the nostalgia is over 9000 on this one
riight? It took me back. Almost forgot that phase in my life happened to me.
Shinjei Senpai not only is this nostalgia of my earlier life, this still is my life.
Page Avenue was one of my favorite albums in high school. I still jam to it.

Hey Yoo Whatsup🔥
Early 2000s when MTV used to play actual Alternative Rock bands.
this is more Post-Hardcore, Alternative Metal
@@awkhz there's nothing metal in here dude
early 2000's MTV did not play music at all and hadn't for about 5 years until 98-99. This was MTV2 era
Goodness, this is mixed so insanely better than Live at the Lou! RESPECT to the guy who was doing the sound for this at MTV!!!
Rubber Bubble Wrap yeah I noticed this concert had an insane amount of bass compared to others

the whole crowd singing on Anthem Of Our Dying Day.... damn... gives me chills. I can't even imagine how good that would feel as an artist.

@@XadjustmentX couldn't agree more with that
He's got a band of his own - Greek Fire, you should check it out. It's more alt.rock/prog-rock, but still great
And the fact Phil can scream too.
Fun Fact: After Anthony Green Of Saosin Left The Band Phil Fills In Vocals For Them 😁
