    A step back turn on your SUP should be one of the first manoeuvres you learn as a paddler. It helps to turn your board quickly, prepares you for SUP racing, surfing and whitewater paddling and hones your balance skills on the board.     I'm just having a question. If you compare short 5ft paddler vs taller about 6+ft paddler, which one is going to be faster based on their factors?

      Good question we do know lots of very fast shorter paddlers and very fast longer paddlers, but generally if you have a longer reach with your paddle you will probably be able to propel yourself faster through the water.
      But there are many shorter paddlers with a fast cadence that are very very quick.

      When SUP racers are doing sprint racing, they all opt for quicker shorter strokes, but this is because they are moving quicker through the water and the paddle blade will have to be moving at the same speed as the water. When paddlers are paddling at less of a sprint it all depends what speed feels comfortable for their body type and blade size. Hope that helps. Thanks Reuben
