The idea came to me a few days ago when, following your indication, I worked on both Rachmaninov's third concerto and then the encore with Casta Diva who you already know. Listening to it very carefully and thanks also to the careful listening of a French friend, I thought of placing these 2 "pearls of music" side by side. It came naturally to me to do it! But I add, do you know what surprised me and saddened me a little? That in a country like France they cannot have access to the part where Maria Callas sings !!! I'm sorry about this, but they have some sort of ban that I've never seen before! It's incredible what man can do even with a universal and superior art such as music. I'm also sorry for my friend Jean Jean du Chateau who gave me this input, maybe I'll upload it also to another platform so he can listen to it! By the way, with Callas I really did a very serious restoration job: this 1958 recording was monophonic, but thanks to my research and without the use of tricks such as re-recording the audio in a room to try to recreate correct stereophony, I obtained a fairly satisfactory result. This is a project of mine that I am improving and applying to monophonic recordings: especially these very important ones from the past which are part of what we are... or should be (and perhaps we are not yet...😅 in my opinion). I send you a sincere hug! 🤗
I finished the TOKYO EMPEROR audio restoration, however this was a radio broadcast that's why there is a particular compression (and RUclips algorhytms did the rest... 😅) but I tried to balance the sound without cutting high frequencies , apart this tek details, do you know that ZIMERMANN was there and from what a friend told me asked the STANDUP to the public ?? I believe this is true... !
@@arksoundtek Did you upload your Enperor restoration on YT? I can’t find it so I am wordering if you uploaded it on another platform. I am not surprised that Zimmermann was in the audience. And I am really impressed that he led the standing ovation. That was very kind and generous of him! I have seen various famous pianists (and violinists)in the audience several times when a new “talent” is performing. I suppose they are curious to evaluate other pianists and see how good they are! On one occasion Kissin was in the audience sitting only a few seats away from me when Yuja Wang was giving a concert. And a few other times I saw famous pianists in the audience! By the way I found by accident a video of Yunchan aged 9 playing Chopin’s Fantasie Impromptu. Even though it is not a polished mature performance, the technique is already there from that age. And the interpretation is not bad although still needs more work. It is really very good and absolutely amazing for a 9 year old. Listen to it when you have time. It is uploaded by the “musik musik”“channel.
Mr.Jean Pierre! thank you so much for your fine work. I went to YunChan's piano at BSO, and listened to his real, real piano with my bare ears, with my husband. I found that the sounds you made so far, are all almost live-like. Everybody at the BSO stood up and became ONE-mind. just audio is fine with me. its hard to do both listen and watch. i would appreciate a less compressed version as well. i have a good system for more dynamic recordings. i found the radio recording to be a bit too compressed. 😅
@@rohinagrawal9727 of course, the top would be to have at least a WAV or AIFF file... but is not possible in the most of times... so I have to DOWNLOAD (and this is the 1st problem) to EXTRACT the audio (and if everything goes well arrives maximum at 160 KBPS ....) to TRY to give LIFE at that audio... Sincerely the VIDEO part is not my interest, because it takes a lot of time and I am interested by audio, but if you don't have a video you CAN'T publish here ;)

Anyway I have just noticed that someone has uploaded a new Yunchan performance of the Emperor concerto a few days ago with the Tokyo Philharmonic conducted by Pletnev which is supposed to be re-mastered but it is not good and in some passages the piano sound is too metallic and ugly and I am sure your remastering will be 1000 times better than the one already on YT if you have time to do one. Listen to it when you have some time and see if you can improve it. My only comment is that in my opinion the tempo is a little too fast compared to Yunchan’s performance a few years ago with the Guangju Symphony Orchestra which you already know. Also I applaud you wanting to try and encourage young people to use their perception to appreciate not only music but and not to listen with their ears only. I am afraid today’s young people have been spoiled by having too much fed to them in a formulaic manner without using their own perception and instinct to evaluate things. I think it is a result of the social media which they have been brought up on.

I just finished to restore and remaster for an italian pianist (that also follow YUNCHAN LIM) the EMPEROR! 😀 I am going to find out... but let me say this (and I have written in another channel, don't remember which) that if the audio is not clear sounds of instruments anc orchestra results BLUR... this impact and emphasize SPEED (and I read another interesting comment about the 3rd with a blurred audio...) I am reporting this interesting comment: "I absolutely disagree, and I must say that I am both a concert pianist AND an orchestral pianist, and while Yunchan’s tempi are hair-raisingly, edge-of-your-seat exciting they are never mechanical or damaging to the music. Вообще- то, это музыка Винченцо Беллини, кроме Марии Каллас есть много выдающихся исполнительниц- Монсеррат Кабалье, например..... И на мой взгляд, она гораздо лучше Каллас... Юнчан просто сыграл популярную мелодию в не самой сложной обработке- делать из вокального шедевра фортепианный, на мой взгляд , надо более структурированно и продуманно... Как это делал Рахманинов....иначе звучит как- то не очень интересно... Вообще,именно это вокальное произведение звучит богаче так, как задумал Беллини - в его аранжировке бережно продуманы все планы звучания- это же молитва жрицы...

HI! why think of a comparison? this is not a comparison but a sort of vision of a path, and great music can be interpreted with any instrument and voice: Bach demonstrates this with the ART OF FUGUE for example, but not only. I want to underline this: the comparison is to a human vision linked to the pyramidal "system" that still governs for a short while, the path is instead the goal which is sprinkled with infinite nuances and variations. I just finished to restore and remaster for an italian pianist (that also follow YUNCHAN LIM) the EMPEROR! 😀 I am going to find out... but let me say this (and I have written in another channel, don't remember which) that if the audio is not clear sounds of instruments anc orchestra results BLUR... this impact and emphasize SPEED (and I read another interesting comment about the 3rd with a blurred audio...) I am reporting this interesting comment:
"I absolutely disagree, and I must say that I am both a concert pianist AND an orchestral pianist, and while Yunchan’s tempi are hair-raisingly, edge-of-your-seat exciting they are never mechanical or damaging to the music. Вообще- то, это музыка Винченцо Беллини, кроме Марии Каллас есть много выдающихся исполнительниц- Монсеррат Кабалье, например..... И на мой взгляд, она гораздо лучше Каллас... Юнчан просто сыграл популярную мелодию в не самой сложной обработке- делать из вокального шедевра фортепианный, на мой взгляд , надо более структурированно и продуманно... Как это делал Рахманинов....иначе звучит как- то не очень интересно... Вообще,именно это вокальное произведение звучит богаче так, как задумал Беллини - в его аранжировке бережно продуманы все планы звучания- это же молитва жрицы...

Допустим, вы идете «прикоснуться» к композиционной теме и сделанной Шопеном транскрипции (которую по своей простоте надо считать замечательным свидетельством вкусов Шопена, кантабиле Беллини и итальянской оперы!). Знаете, это комментарий, который обозначает Вашу компетентность в музыкальной области и должен быть оценен по достоинству, это не суждение как самоцель, а острое историко-музыкальное наблюдение! HI! why think of a comparison? this is not a comparison but a sort of vision of a path, and great music can be interpreted with any instrument and voice: Bach demonstrates this with the ART OF FUGUE for example, but not only. I want to underline this: the comparison is to a human vision linked to the pyramidal "system" that still governs for a short while, the path is instead the goal which is sprinkled with infinite nuances and variations.
