Today we take a look at the Clear "Ice Cube" Nintendo Gamecube Shell swap.
It turned out really well and i was surprised at the nice quality of the shell.

For anyone attempting this, when you get to the reassembly phase, be very careful with how you put the lid on - there are 2 little switches at the back that detect when the lid is open or not (for firing up the drive and laser) and if you're heavy handed or in a rush you can easily break one or both of them 💔

What’s the proper way to avoid damaging it. I broke it on my first attempt without warning. Now have to wait until I get new piece for it 😢

@@danielkhaleck9412 all you have to do is install the top part of the case with the lid open, just replaced mine and installed top correctly no problems 👍

Love the video. Just thought I might clarity, there's a transparent shell called "icedcube" which fits full sized CDs. I believe manufacturing for them stopped years ago, so they are quite rare.
I was looking for a video of the aliexpress clear case, but initially wasn't going to watch your video, cos I thought it was about the iced cube case. However, I noticed the disc tray door wasn't the larger full sized CD version that the icedcube shells are known for.

I’ve just picked up a beaten blue GC and I was contemplating giving it a re-spray.
This looks really good though and I might get a purple one to pay homage to the Grape N64 I used to own.
That's a small fan I wish they can make a gamecube #2 and make it more powerful and economical

Never had a GC, my father-in-law is a Commercial Front end trash loader in the Metro Detroit area.
GameStop and other Electronic stores, Save all PCs and systems off to the side for him to bring home lol.
Just got a Silver DOL-001 from him, purchased a cheap cable set from Amazon, and it works!
Got HELDERS PICOboot FlatPCB to install this weekend, the Serial Port for the SD card is on the MotherBoard but it's NOT Populated with the actual Port.
Either Way: I've Never had a GC so I was Trying to find a Clear Replacement Shell, They are Freaking Expensive!
I wanted one $20 Years ago for my OG Xbox, but I couldn't fork over $100 then. Now I'm Too Cheap lol

Hey I have the same little work mat, isn’t it pretty great? This legit looks almost the same was I’ve done some GBA video tare downs, almost identical with the fast forwards too lol. Great job I haven’t seen a clear GC but always wondered if shells exist. You’ve got a sub from me :)

judging from your video, those are some damn high quality shells! Especially for the price, i thought it'd be at least $100, those dreamcast ones are about that and more. How does it hold up? Is it as high quality in reality?
The quality is actually really good. Feels like OEM honestly. I was expecting junk but was pleased with the overall quality

You absolutely could
How do you fix the faceplate? I mean I don't know what to do with the adhesive, it's got only one side which is sticky
I had to get my own double sided tape to stick on the jewel
@@theconsolecollector I actually figured it out, it's also a double side tape, it's not very noticeable but it is, worked perfectly 😁

My day job is working with cars, lots of clips, nuts, bolts and screws. Hundreds. So it's no issue doing a simple game console :)
