@@hyperreal Out of his hat. There is NO sense in which ANY nation on Earth is capitalist. Friedman, like MOST people, mistook the word "capitalist" for "free marketer".
Capitalism requires a society whose trade and economy are totally FREE from ALL government intervention. If there is ANY regulation over trade, that society is a MIXED economy - NOT a capitalist society.

He makes it sound like capitalism is a form of government. It's not. Capitalism is an economic system. Socialism is an economic system. In a capitalist economic system, if it goes unregulated, it morfs and evolves into a monopoly.
