You have some explaining to do Mahogany Sessions. This definitely sounds as if it were recorded indoors. The reverb gives it all away.
Modern plug-ins are able to simulate reverb so well, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between real and artificial most of the time. Seems to me to be recorded live, notice how every guitar strum lines up perfectly. That's impossible to replicate in a video post-recording.
Good ear Travis - but we're always pushing to maximise the quality of our sessions through equipment and new field recording methods and we would never ever pre-record the sound x
The Mahogany Sessions Thanks for clarifying. Pretty cool you can do that utilizing a single omnidirectional mic. ( I assume that's what you use) Oh yeah, I forgot to mention how amazing this actually sounds. My attention span is pretty short sighted.
Everything sounds close-mic'd and whilst they're playing it similarly, the strength of the strumming on the video just doesn't seem to match the audio. First time I've really noticed it on MS, cos I really like how it's all field recordings.

this sounds just like The Moon by The Swell Season
I was wondering if anyone could figure out the tuning of the guitar which the singer is playing. He is missing his high E string so it's a bit confusing. If anyone has an idea, please put it out there!
Listening to it now it might be CGCGC, or possibly CFCGC (because he seems to hammer on the second fret of the 'lowest G string' sometimes).

+Shaun Quinn there is no possible way that this is all *what you see is what you hear* that's bullshit and that's really shitty business doing of "the mahogany sessions" to lie to you like that.
+Shaun Quinn This is probably the best explanation; live-recording music groups on RUclips use this all the time. It ain't that hard to hook all the equipment up to a sound board, feed it into a laptop, and add whatever effects desired. Do the Mahogany artists record live? Most likely. Do the effects added take away from the "live" experience? That's up for the audience to decide I guess. Depends on the song and artist too. Stuff like "Still Trying" by Nathaniel Rateliff and "Birds" by Louis Baker didn't need this because adding effects would take away from the song.
So to answer your question, I don't think this was prerecorded. Heavily edited, yes, but recorded live nonetheless
