was a little sad starlo didn't have a genocide fight and i wanted to imagine how things would look if the fight did happen
i really really really want to make it a game but god damn it the dusttrust remaster is taking all of my time 😭😭

THIS is was very much needed in geno. Just didn’t feel right for Starlo to do nothing and for Ceroba to get even more of a spotlight

I'm just gonna say that it greatly disappoints me how we didnt get a Starlo Genocide battle.
Out of all bosses, he is one of the three who fights you more or less motivated(others being Ceroba in pacifist route and Axis). And for a guy who just roleplays with his friends... His skills ain't half bad.
I think it would have also let him be more flashed out. It would show that while he is goofy and kinda childish, when his friends need him, he can easily abandon his easygoing attitude.
So yeah, missed potential.
Something interesting that Starlo could do here is give your turns a time limit, say if you take too long to fight or heal he just quickdraws on you and makes you take damage, i could also see this fight being a short one since its suposed to be before Ceroba, Starlo can tank 6 perfect hits in maxed out neutral runs after all so he definitely has the HP to keep this fight going for a bit, making his turns count with his slowdown ability is also an interesting concept.

@@nagitomanI think that’d be a great idea. Considering that when you immediately go to the wild east, you’re forced to kill Starlo regardless of your action and enter an unsparable battle, I think it would be nice if you had the OPTION to back away.
For instance, Monster Kid. Sparing him prevents the wrath of Undyne shifting into Undying.
Either way, Clover is FORCED to distract Starlo without their gun, so once they take it from him and render him defenseless, we’ll have the choice of going through with it or sparing him when he’s at his lowest.
It would have been amazing.

At the moment of duel on the genocidal route you take a while to shoot, Ceroba appears and is surprised to see the scene, at that, Clover voluntarily takes out her gun pointing at Starlo.
Ceroba instantly gets in front of Starlo and receives the shot. She falls and Starlo kneels to lift her body. Before dying in Starlo's arms, she dedicates a few words to him that after Chujin and Kanako, he was always with her trying to cheer her up, even if he got into trouble or ended up hurt, he always maintained that happiness that He wanted to share with the people, with his friends and with her; and that after many years, she still loved him. Disappearing in the dust
Starlo doesn't say anything, he stands up, hiding his face with his hat, Clover is about to shoot but Starlo is faster and uses his whip to deflect the attack, starting the fight. Or rather... THE TRUE SHOWDOWN.

Starlo is definitely by far my favorite character of Undertale Yellow. But I am unbelievably pissed at how he never got a geno fight and it was just Ceroba (who already got a 4 phase fight in pacifist) So this is a great concept and I applaud you for it 👏🏻

Making Starlo as the finale boss of Geno Route could've been a great parallel to how Pacifist Route finale boss was Japanese themed.

I don't see a problem with zenith martlet though, you can't really kill an enemy if they just fly the fuck away
I get that he's supposed to be like Papyrus (a favorite character who is killed instantly in a sad scenario) but yeah. Frankly, I didn't care about Ceroba so her fight has no impact
It's also annoying that you can't refuse to shoot Starlo. I get that this would be hard to handle story-wise, but still.
@@goobeeeer At least with NEO, you still enter the battle mod and he's at the end of Geno Route right before Sans, unlike Starlo where there's still AXIS and Martlet.
Martlet surviving for first time is still bs, so you meant to tell me any other monster could've asked Clover to lower their gun and run away?
It's not like Ceroba had a pacifist fight with 4 different phases am I right?
I imagine since Starlo shoots down your fight option, he breaks the Toy Gun you've been using, so in order to kill him you have to catch him off guard to loosen his grip on the Wild Revolver he has, hence giving you the Wild Revolver once his grip is 100% loosened, and you kill him after a final attack.
Alternatively, you could also fistfight him but it's capped at however high your base attack is without a weapon, and would take awhile to kill him. Though with some aiming you could loosen his grip on the Wild Revolver more.
Maybe if the devs don't want to scrap the whole geno ceroba fight, maybe after you steal his wild revolver, he flees to the same spot you fight him in neutral/pacifist, letting you prepare and gear up in the wild east (albeit the revolver in the shop will be "missing"), because when you confront him again, he will have another revolver and do the duel to settle things for once
It would work the same as the current one in-game but Starlo actually kills you if you let him shoot first, and flowey will scold you in the game over screen for not cheating the duel. You shoot first (most likely by cheating), and cue the same starlo/ceroba cutscene and ceroba fight.
Now both characters gets time to shine in geno and ceroba will feel a lot less forced, while also not overwhelming you by chaining two geno fights together and letting a breathing room to restock your healing items
Ari dusttrust is straight is like alright and all but you should drop all that for this! I HATED THAT STARLO GOT SHAFTED ON GENO, and seeing this brings tears of joy to me eye.
imo Starlo's non-fight in geno is a parallel to Mettaton NEO

I would have loved a fight against him in the genocide route, but if it was like that, then, when we were gonna kill ceroba? At the end again? I mean, she could just appear after starlo, but, that would be a mettaton neo dilema, plus, i have a fanfic of a hard mode uty where flowey notices he lost control of the timeline and clover gets it, in this case, we fight starlo at the enter of the town, and ceroba at the rock bridge (Also, ceroba uses her mask on said battle)

I love this!! Starlo shooting out the fight option made me think about how he probably wouldn't be a fan of the taking turns thing. It's 10 paces then you both get the chance to fire, so I imagine that this would be the first fight in Geno where Clover would use the big shot because it'd be a shoot-out essentially
If this happened in game, I think it would’ve really showed Starlos heroic side. Thanks for making this. I hope to see it as even a fan game someday.

Starlo shooting the fight option implies that he just shot Clover's revolver out of their holster/hand,

I think the first shot is Starlo shooting the toy gun out of Clovers hand (assuming in this tineline Starlo took the Wild Revolver), and the ones after is Starlo destroying it.
And maybe the way Clover wins is stealing Starlos gun (again, assuming Starlo has the Wild Revolver)
This is exactly how I imagined the fight would go down. It is a real shame that Starlo wasn't given the Genocide boss treatment. Instead he's a complete joke in that route :/. Like come on give the sheriff his time to shine in a serious moment. Well at least there are fan works like this to right the wrongs, amazing job!
I'm sure he's meant to be a mirror to NEO Mettaton, considering it would be overwhelming to fight Ceroba afterward.
However, there's a way to fix this:
We have to get rid of Marlet early on, it's the only way to open the path for Starlo's avenge. Then we would still have a duel with Starlo, but instead of him getting gunned down, Ceroba would block Clover's bullet with her shield at the last second, and urge Starlo to run away, assuring him that she could handle this. Disobeying Ceroba's order, Starlo would watch Clover mercilessly slaughter his friend from the shadow. This would give him extreme motivation to avenge his best friend.
Skip forward to Clover entering the town leading to the last elevator, which originally was not of [their] interest. Starlo emerges from a shadow figure awaiting for Clover. And the battle begins...
@@Grundrisse Tbh ceroba gets enough of the spotlight in the pacifist route, it'd probably end up being better if she takes the bullet.
I love the little details shown here on this concept.
Lets start at how Starlo's head is slightly tilted down, implying he has finally decided to throw away his morals in order to take down Clover's "Mercyless" Methodology.
his pose is also slightly different, he doesn't just hide away the gun, he isn't afraid to kill you now.
the hand that's constantly holding the Wild Revolver isn't moving as much as the one that's free, which could mean Starlo is Gripping the Weapon with force.

The dialogue is also interesting, because it starts off in a very similar way as Starlo's usual overworld dialogue:

(Usual No Mercy Overworld Dialogue)
"You see, i've heard you've been up to no good."
The diference here might seem small, but this does imply a few things.
First off, Starlo directly states that you've been doing bad things.
*(I'll be referring to Clover as a 'He' cause that's how i perceive him, be patient with me if you don't like that.)*
This implies he's probably been stalking Clover since he arrived to the Dunes.
How?
Starlo might've been warned earlier this time about the Human, and he decided to take action, firstly, of course, by confirming the Human is indeed doing all of these things he's heard of him.

Secondly, the fact this battle started in the first place at that specific dialogue implies that Clover either got impatient and forced the fight to start (Unlikely, as Starlo doesn't mention this.)
or Starlo himself was already expecting Clover to fight him, so he starts the fight.
The latter seems more plausible, because Starlo literally starts by shooting Clover's FIGHT button (and in turn, also his Toy Gun, i suppose..)
I'm guessing Ceroba would not interrupt the fight here, either distracted by Flowey's antics,
or something else.
(Not sure what through, helping other monsters evacuate, perhaps?)
But if she did interrupt this fight...
A fight against both Starlo and Ceroba would be seriously hard...
It would give me some Undertale: Hard Mode vibes.

Thirdly, This also reminds me of Betrayal Kills, which i believe is the way Starlo died in the first place.
The whole thing about monsters not wanting to be violent by nature.
*(which is the main reason why they tend to seemingly die so easily)*
but when they need to, they'll not hold themselves back, which causes them to appear stronger.

Another thing is how Starlo's Wild Revolver has a sprite that is coated in *Red*, ever since the fight begins.
I like to imagine that implies Clover has his eyes set for the revolver, ever since he's seen it with Starlo, he wants the gun for himself, in order to use it and bring some of his Twisted sense of "Justice" in the No Mercy Route.
It could also be why Starlo shoots down Clover's FIGHT button (And presumably his Toy Gun).
Starlo knows Clover wants his Weapon, and he isn't just gonna let Clover take it that easily.
Rather, he's gonna give Clover more reasons to go after the Sheriff.
Something along the lines of:
"If you want it so bad, why don't you come get it then?"
"I'd like to see you get it off my hands."

I kinda disagree with the "stealing his gun part" i liked to thing starlo had unlocked his DETERMINATION, inturn making his gun stronger and glow red.
I feel like a more original idea would be him shooting the ITEM button...

Yeah, I've been on this for a while, but eventually, I decided that'd be out of genre and overall it'd be strange concept for Starlo. Instead, I made up another idea: he shoots your healthbar several times, it causes turn-timed health drain at a rate that is proportional to your current HP (that way the battle would have wanted you to stay low HP, and if you heal, those health poins would go to waste after few turns anyway, which will burn your inventory pretty fast if you are not self-confident enough)
Even more unique:shoot every button except the fight button
It would be cool if he had Sudden Changes mechanic where healing dosent take away your turn but if you dont press the attack button fast enough, you get shot and loose lot of hp. Or just shoot you right at the begining, forcing you to survive first attack with less hp. or just shoot you every time you choose a fight option, showing that he is the fastest draw in the East. that option instead of first one would allow you to read the narrator text box, and you would have to manage your resources more carefully
I just realized a REALLY cool mechanic that could’ve happened for this fight: starlo lassoes your FIGHT button and he uses your gun against you. The better ammo you have equipped, the more damage starlo deals.

starlo seriously got shafted in geno, and i'm not even that sure exactly why
he says he can't shoot you for real, yet can do so in the neutral/pacifist runs is weird, not to mention that in the geno run he has even more motive to do it considering you're an active murderer and he knows it
ceroba already had her time to shine in the pacifist run, i think it'd be more meaningful and interesting if she jumped out and took the bullet for star, then he'd fight alongside the rest of the feisty five. the way he reacts in the flawed pacifist ending shows us how pissed and willing to kill he'd be if you killed ceroba, and it'd make sense for her to sacrifice herself given how she's depressed and starlo's basically the only person close to her she has left

also at the end, if you don't press Fight/Surrender, the marker comes in and everything but before he actually shoots ceroba intervenes

While I do get why they had Starlo not get a fight (as disappointing as it is) (Fighting Starlo and THEN Ceroba would have been a lot) I do wish they did him better. Maybe have him shoot but the bullet shatter against your soul/just you tanking it in general and then Clover kills him while he's shocked you survived
As for him wanting to kill in Neutral/Pacifist I always saw it as proof of him being at the lowest point of his life. He finally meets a human, let alone a cowboy too, spends his time pampering him and (in his eyes) ALL his friends leave him because of his recent behavior, he's going to be acting different from how he usually does
Although with this all I might just be biased because Genocide Ceroba is my favorite boss fight (not including the final bosses) so I do want to find a way for her to stay but Starlo to also get his time

I like to imagine this is the equivalent of him shooting the gun straight out of Clover's hand. He would've been a really cool genocide fight.
I really disliked the fact the wild east got no treatment on the geno route aside from a Ceroba fight, I was expecting Starlo to try to ignore our behaviour in order to fulfill his fantasy of meeting/befriending a real cowboy, and when the Feisty Four battle you and die, Starlo is waiting on the bridge to avenge his posse (I would imagine Ceroba even arriving Midfight to save Starlo from getting oneshot by using her barrier).
I imagine Clover tries to QuickDraw, but Starla just shoots their gun out of their hand. Sorta like you can do in Red dead redemption
Your every attack would be a duel, but Starlo is too fast here and will shoot and damage you during your own attack
The question is how would you finally kill him?
So I have an idea.
Assuming this battle takes place on the rock bridge that the normal battle takes place.
You shoot some cracks in the rock formation under Starlo’s feet, when he tries to jump out of the way of the collapsing ground, shoot him so he stops and falls into the pit and you still get the EXP.
That’s good
Better idea, you steal Starlo’s gun and shoot em point blank, so you also get the wild revolver.

There is so much favoritism for cerebra. Like we get it she's cool, but save at least SOME of the spotlight. Like the game goes from cool undertale fan game, to cerebras flashbacks: the game

Glad to see I’m not the only one disappointed at the lack of a starlo geno run battle, it would’ve been so cool to have him and clover have some crazy ass shootout to the death. I also just am not fond of the “x character dies specifically to create an emotional moment for y character that leads to some huge power up or character arc” trope. You don’t even get an option to spare starlo, that’s how much of an after thought he was
Honestly, I imagine the scenario where Clover killing off his posse and this will drive him to fight with everything he got and be like undyne and possibly have a form change, or develop magical abilities during the fight, hence why his gun is a reddish color. I can also imagine at the end he reduce our HP to 1 while also having 1 hp for him and we one last duel, in this they for the draw to fire and if Clover shoots before the draw then its an instant lost.

So... I actually DO understand why Star didn't get a proper geno battle. It would take too long to go into, but I get it. Mmnn, kinda.
But I still feel cheated. Because he HAS what it takes to be a first-rate Genocide boss. He SHOULD have been our Undying, but instead they gave a half-assed version of that to Ceroba- who was already this game's Asriel and didn't need to be in Geno- and turned Star into this game's Mettaton Neo.
Pacifist and Neutral make sense to me. Genocide... doesn't.
(BTW, I also feel this way about Dalv. After he says in Pacifist that he was holding back, I expected a BATTLE. And he just wimps out.
I've only gotten as far as the Steamworks in Geno. I hope the rest of it is better.)

i would have liked that the devs didnt do that dirty to starlo in the geno. i get it, ceroba is a much more tragic character, but she has the spotlight in the pacifist with that good damn hard battle, and she having it again in the geno just seems... off. starlo would have make a better fight, a better boss than even martlet, cuz he has more to lose than her, more motivations than her, instead of him just dying the moment we step there. i quote the comment of a video, if he had been the boss in the genocide, it would have been the battle between the merciless hero and the true hero... both righteous souls in search of what they thought justice is... it would have been amazing.

I am going back to this to say that there is an INCREDIBLE fangame using this as heavy inspiration, and Fazzy's BANGER "Ghost Town" as the theme!
Starlo has so much missed potential on all routes. He is the best character in the entire game and fits perfectly with the themes and the aesthetic. Starlo should have been the focus of at least one of the major endings, especially when it comes to Genocide because Martlet is an odd choice when you think about it. Starlo would have fit much better with the theme of Justice.

They started out as a roleplaying group but then it eventually spiralled into the wild east
Yes, but neutral/pacifist tells you that starlo is way more invested in his role compared to the other feisty five, and when confronted with strong emotions, he will actually fully commit into being a sheriff and become a genuine cowboy
Same could have happened in geno considering the evacuation going on and him confronting the murderer, an outlaw, that is threatening the lives of his friends

You know it's a good fangame when you got fangames of your fangame
At first I wasn't minding the fact that Starlo doesn't want to kill you, but now I notice it's a bit no sense. They could have fixed it in a simple way. Making the duel (nearly) impossible to win and it would make you die. Then Flowey could say something like "wow, that was really fast. But you know, you don't need to actually be faster to win", so encouraging you to cheat.
Maybe even cooler if starlo had taken off his hat during or after the duel.

It always kinda disappointed me the that North Star so desperately wanted to look cool, but never got a chance to do so in the games.

Especially since in neutral/pacifist it's made very clear that he will fully commit to being a sheriff when the moment asks for it, so starlo* in genocide feels out of character.

Also imagine if this fight is how you acquire the wild revolver. He shoots down your toy gun (thus your ability to FIGHT), so you have to find a way to steal his gun (just like how you trick him into breaking his own lasso during neutral/pacifist) in order to kill him.

I imagine Starlo breaking your fight icon literally destroys your gun, so eventually in the fight you have to get Starlos gun off of him, and by doing so you get your FIGHT icon back, then you kill starlo with his gun, and the gun has better stats then the old one, like major damage increase for the later GENOCIDE bosses, still an awesome concept and would love to see more of this ❤

I think it’d be interesting if he shot up your mercy button instead, kinda cementing what he said earlier. You’re probably already gonna try and kill him, but the shock value is shafted by the annoyance of having to act instead of exchange blows and shots with him.

Pretty late, but I love the music here! The actual motif's of "Showdown!" Are extremely quiet compared to the instrumentals, showing how, in Pacifist, the motifs showed how blind he was to the potential damage he was doing, where here, the motifs are in the background, showing that his head is crystal clear, and he knows he's doing the right thing.
I really wish we actually got a genocide starlo instead of Ceroba, I love Ceroba but she was already incredibly important in the Pacifist run (also i am incredibly biased towards Starlo because he is the best character)

I like to think that at the beginning, clover tries to draw his gun but starlo shows'em who the fastest draw in the west is and shoots his hand before he can fire
someone has to make this real, star is likely holding back in the pacifist/neutral fight, he still doesn't wanna brutally slaughter a small child with a gun. geno starlo sounds sick as hell and this concept looks insanely good

Maybe the only way to end the fight could be for him to run out of bullets and then for you to take his gun (maybe the wild revolver doesn't show up previously and this is how you get it), load it, and then shoot him with it

I feel as if Starlo should have shot everything but the Fight option. That would be more of characther of him. And you can possibly recover those options throughout the fight

i think it would make more sense if he shot the mercy button so you have to fight him
i see why you think that, but shooting the fight button makes sense because it makes it harder for you to kill him, it actively gives him the advantage in the battle
while shooting the mercy button doesn't, in fact, i think it gives him a disadvantage since it basically forces you to kill him like you said, that's a good thing for us, but not for the enemy, so it wouldn't make sense because the enemy (Starlo) is basically HELPING you, y'know?
destroying the mercy button in a pacifist/neutral run makes sense since it forces you to pick the choice you most likely wouldn't want to pick, but doing it in a genocide route makes no sense because you already were going to kill him anyways, the enemy disabling the mercy option just means they destroyed their one small chance of getting out alive, which is, again, a disadvantage
while the enemy disabling the fight button in geno, would make it harder for you to kill him since you'd have to find a way to get the button back so you can fight, again, making it harder and actively giving the enemy the advantage, it's why Martlet disables the fight button in her geno fight as well
at some point, clover is going to snap at the amount of people disabling his attack bar
