Amazing job Simon! Congratulations!👏 If you could package all this into an app with very simple UI (similar to an Instagram video repost app) you could really reach a large audience. You could even monetize the app via google Adsense so it’s worth your time/effort. Not sure how possible that is as I’m just a simple man, but wow incredible work! Spreading REAL and valuable info via user generated content is so important during these UKR/RUS times. It’s lifesaving! Great work!!
The importance of Bellingcat is beyond measure. In Ukraine with locating the perps for war crimes, but also, with all the "fake news" and "news media all lie" nihilism out there in the US conspiracy community, it is good that checking veracity can be more than just media company fact-checking. It must take years to learn the skills needed, but making such research accessible to a larger audience should help dispel many of the myths dividing the country.
I'm looking for tools that make it easier to translate long-form content from the Ukraine war- there's a firehose of great journalism in Ukrainian and Russian and it's a pain to manually transcribe, say, 45-60 minute interviews and then work on translation. Auto-translating and later editing any gibberish via a human is a helpful tool. Is there any tool you can think of, to deal with Whisper's 5 minute "limit"? RUclips is trying to compete with TikTok by encouraging the making of 'shorts' and otherwise remixing content, Any way to use this built-in youtube feature and some download tool to make sort chunks out of a 60 minute video for instance? You shouldn't need to make the 'chunk' videos public and clutter up your youtube channel- you can make unlisted youtube videos that still provide a URL you could theoretically feed to this and to Whisper.. I just started a subreddit for Ukraine war translation/transcription tech tips for translators- r/wartranslators

I will check out your subreddit. I don't speak the languages, either. Thanks for the work.
